Now that the most exciting part of free agency and the draft is over, what are you most excited for this upcoming season?
Personally, I can't wait to see what Spags does with the defense. After bringing him in, along with Hawthorne, Lofton, and Bunkley; I'm excited to see how much we improve with him as our Defensive Coordinator this season. I'm also anxious to see how Mark Ingram does in his second season. Can he stay healthy? Does he become the downhill runner we drafted him to be?
The second year player I'm MOST excited about going into next season is... Martez Wilson
At the end of last season he really started to show up a lot more in some of the defensive packages Williams drew up, and boy was he explosive. I can't wait to see what Spags might have in mind for 'Tez. I know most of us would rather have him start over Shanle, but allowing him to learn the new defense as a role player might help him to acclimate better.
Here's a nice vid I found of Martez on youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PJxypHAvcLA
So Saints fans what are you most excited for? _________________

Ingram and Martez like you said. Also, I'm interested to see how Ellis performs now that he won't have an excuse of not having any other talent at defensive tackle, and a new defensive coordinator who knows what he's doing.
Interested to see how the offense runs without Payton as well. We should still be explosive, but it will be very telling how things go.
Lastly, I want to see how well Jenkins performs in a defense more suited to his strengths. _________________

All good points. I'd also like to see how Harper does in the new scheme.. If he doesn't fit well, will we move him? Anxious to see Cam Jordan, as well. I'm just ready for some football _________________

I think we all are
After a long (and boring) summer full of the same baseball highlights on sportscenter, I'm always beyond stoked for football season.
I'm also curious about Harper. I don't think we'll be able to get rid of him and his contract though. Hopefully he'll just transition well so we don't have to worry about that. _________________

I've practically been peeing myself in anticipation for this season since we signed this man. I mean I've been a fan of this guy ever since he got drafted to the Falcons and now he's a Saint and will be playing for New Orleans and ---teenage girl scream--- _________________

I'm just excited to see Saints football. I don't care if we end up 0-16 or 19-0, I just want to see my team play. _________________

How about a saints offense that is not cute and does fancy things but Run the ball and have drew firing away at will. But mostly running the ball. Payton for whatever reason did it two three times and abandoned it. three bruisers and a scat back time to do some damage.
On defense Besides the LB corps, I want to see Romeus and the front line perform. Like to see a ball hawk come out of nowhere in the back field how nice would that be |

Spags.
I still can't comprehend that we have one of the premier defensive minds running our D. This guy has developed defensive players into quality wherever he gone (NYG, St. Louis), he's improved every D he's ever worked with and he's terrific in game as a coach (there is a clip where he successfully calls every play the opposition offense runs, and doesn't blitz the house on 3rd and 1).
This guy could be the biggest yang to our ying. We're talking about a coach who could be the Sean Payton of our D.
We've had one of the most consistently dominant offenses the past 5 years, this year, we finally, finally may have an actual top-10 D across the board to match it.
Our team has really always been about one person (Brees) and collective sum of the parts for everything else. We're not like teams like the NYG who have playmakers on D(Tuck), nor are we like a team like 49ers who have an individual player apart from QB who can consistently make plays(Gore), instead we're Brees and we count on every other man to play his role correctly. That's atleast imo. I fully believe this season we could have the rest of the players play at Brees' level for the first time since 2006. Spags is going to help do that in a big big way. _________________

To an extent I agree, but I think with Spags, Jenkins will become a guy who can make big plays from the defensive side of the ball.
I also think Sproles and Graham have the ability to make plays on their own as well. Brees will always be the #1 guy in our offense so long as he is on the team, but Graham and Sproles could make big plays happen with someone else at the helm if that (knock on wood) ever has to happen. _________________

i think obviously the offense runs through Brees. No questioning it but i wouldn't go as far as saying that we don't have other individuals who can't take over a game. As Tyler said Sproles can turn nothing into anything in the run/pass/return game. And Graham is a nightmare to cover, he can out-/jump/muscle/run a lot of defensive guys and will be the one who delivers the hit.
But we do have a lot of guys who play their roles but play them for what we need on offense and hopefully the defense with the LB additions can really start to make things happen. _________________
