Early 2013 NFL mock draft
Now is McShay serious? Sure, Lotulelei is pretty good, but that good? Not to mention the fact that there hasn't been an interior lineman at No. 1 in almost 20 years.

No chance with the incoming QB class. Someone will trade up with the Colts (If they are #1 like his scenario indicates)...

Agreed that Barkley is likely to go #1 due to the demand for a franchise QB. Infraction I doubt Lotu goes 2nd after someone else moves up for Tyler Bray

Logan Thomas will be in the mix as well. At least one (And definitely more after the hype season starts) will play well enough to warrant the #1 overall selection...

David DeCastro was an excellent prospect, and he went 24th. maybe Lotulelei is a better prospect than DeCastro(which i dont agree with, by the way)...but he would have to be a significatly better prospect to go number one. i mean, he would have to be twice the prospect than DeCastro was. |
Why are you comparing a guard to a DT?

that was my bad...i thought the article said Lotulelei was an interior offensive lineman, not defensive. i have never seen Lotulelei play, i watch very few Utah games...and when i say very few, i mean none. so my initial assumption was that McShay was saying that a guard was going to be the first overall pick. thats why i was saying he would have to be twice the prospect DeCastro was. and considering DeCastro is probably the best guard prospect in ten years...thats unlikely.
a DT could very well go top 3, i just think it is a pretty safe conclusion that it will be a QB who goes one. i mean, Ndamukong Suh was drafted 2nd, and he was a much more highly regarded prospect than Bradford.

This is why Todd McShay is an idiot.
If you insist on doing a mock so far in advance, at least make it realistic by having someone trade to #1 for a QB, or better still stick to the big boards for a while.
