Grossi is a hack.
Colt having a weak arm and no pocket awareness did him in. _________________

Said this same thing last week, and relayed a story of a baseball GM who cut a player from their minor league team after the player's mother called demanding he get a shot at the bigs.

If Colt was able to rifle the ball downfield, hit open men in stride, put points of the board, and lead us to W's his pops sounding off is a non-issue. _________________

I think it might have added another Con when it comes to McCoy...but overall I would say it was Weeden that did McCoy in.
The FO didn't want to risk it all on McCoy because should he fail this year, they would be ridiculed for not even trying to upgrade the QB position, this is if they didn't draft one of the other project QBs later. At least if Weeden should fail, the FO can say they believed Weeden could of been the guy...sort of like how even though we didn't get RG3....a lot of fans were just happy to read that the FO matched Washington's offer.
I think there might also be other factors we don't know about... |

| It may have had some kind of impact, but lets be honest, Colt's poor QB play is the main factor |

Yes, and, as usual, if people take the time to actually listen to the audio, you'd find that even Grossi minimizes the effect of Brad McCoy's comments. I listened to it, and Florio asked a leading question about Colt's dad, and Grossi gave a vanilla answer. Now, we see a sensationalized headline. Shocking. _________________ Cleveland Browns: We put the fun in dysfunction.

You didn't happen to hear that story on sports talk radio did you, cuz I heard a similar one told by Mark Schlereth (sp?).

First of all I laughed when I saw this in local media after I looked at the source, then I laughed harder when I saw Florio take it national on his site, talk about the blind leading the blind.
I also think that a combination of Colt's poor play along with a viable option to replace him was what led to his demise more than anything. If they didn't think he was an upgrade they wouldn't have taken him. You don't have to look any further than what we did with our WR's in the draft. After Wright, there wasn't an option that would upgrade our current corps. (in their opinion.) Which is why we addressed other needs until the 4th.
Listening to an interview with Shurmer on Sirius NFL, I really liked what he had to say in regards to our thought process in taking Weeden. "it wasn't because of who was already on our team, it was because we really all believe Weeden to be good starting QB in the NFl." last quote was a paraphrase, no link cause it was on the radio. _________________ "If you can't stand the neural activity, than stay out of the neural activator" -Professor Fink

That's why I think Weeden was the pick. I think the front office likes McCoy, but they know he's far from a sure thing and they really like Weeden so they decided to draft him. I like McCoy as well and think it's possible that he becomes a good starter, but I wasn't upset with drafting Weeden for the reasons I just gave. I know McCoy is far from a sure thing and I'm a big fan of Weeden. _________________ Cleveland Browns Forum Hall of Fame Inductee
