When the Bears were on the clock in the 1st round, I was really hoping at the time that they would have grabbed DeCastro. Shea was not even on my radar when they called his name.

Now that I look back at the draft, I am struggling to see how selecting OL with that 1st pick would have worked, since I love the Ashlon Jeffery selection and would not want to change it. There just doesn't seem like there was much talent left in the 3rd for a DE if we passed on one in the first (unless I am missing someone).

With the benefit of hindsight and knowing where the picks fall, how would you change the Bears draft? Obviously we are mainly all Bears fans, and want the picks we did make to succeed either way

I would have taken Mike Martin over Brandon Hardin.

I'm pumped about Alshon and Rodriguez. McClellan wasn't on my radar but a DE was, so if they think he was the best DE, so be it.

DeCastro would be sweet, but I'm not ready to take a guard over a starting DE.

Frey is a need and has upside, looking forward to seeing if he can do anything.

Taking David Molk over McCoy in the 7th

McClellan
Jeffery
Mike Martin*
Rodriguez
Frey
David Molk*

and no I'm not a Michigan fan

I would have went riskier at #19 and selected Chandler Jones…2nd round I wouldn’t have moved up but if Jeffery had made it to #50 I would have taking him there…at #79 I would have grabbed DT Brandon Thompson…in the 4th I would have taking CB Josh Norman who fell into the 5th…with the extra 5th I would have taken LB Terrell Manning…Brandon Washington in the 6th round…David Molk in the 7th…man this is much easier after the fact Laughing

Most of my guys were gone by the time the Bears were on the clock in the first, including: Coples, Ingram, Brockers, Cox, and Irvin (shocker). McClellin was a good pick, and although I never really heard him connected to the Bears - he's far better than two players I absolutely hated and were often connected to Chicago (Mercilus and Perry)

Second round was absolutely genius - love the pick and love Emery moving up to assure that he got him. Jeffery and Marshall are going to own secondaries in the NFC North.

Likely the only pick I would have done differently would have been 3rd round - if only because I didn't even have Hardin on my radar.

Looking at it now - I think Hardin was a great pick if he can stay healthy. I'm not a fan of major Wright - and I think a combo of Conte and Hardin would give us great size/speed/versatility at our safety positions.

But - while watching the third round and waiting for our pick to come up - I was thinking I would have taken one of these three: DT Mike Martin, DT Akiem Hicks, LB Sean Spence. I didn't have any particular favorite, but i really wasn't thinking Safety at the time.

Honestly, looking back at this draft, I think Emery made some pretty inspired picks.

I'll be very interested to see how Perry does the next few years. I know quite a lot of Bears fans liked him - but I just couldn't shake free from my initial impression that he's going to be terrible. Should be fun to watch He and McClellin this season and see how they progress.

Although I am perhaps the biggest defender of the Bears OL on FF, I probably would have taken DeCastro after trading down a couple of slots and picking up a fifth. Then it gets very iffy.

1) DeCastro OG/T 22-3
2) Vinny Curry DE 50
3) Jake Bequette DE
4) NIck Toon WR
5) Marvin Jones WR
6) Billy Winn DT
7) Alfonzo Dennard CB

Not enough Brandons on this team for you, eh?

I would have replaced Hardin with Aikeem Hicks or Mike Martin

Then in the 4th I would have taken Hardin, and if other teams really were targeting him, I would have just taken another random S, the whole S class this year was basically big and physical but lack cover skills when you look at it, we could have got him anywhere.

So basically I would have gotten a DT instead of TE

You selected our 3rd rounder when he could've been had in the 7th round?

GM of the year!

I'm surprised not to see this more, but I would have taken Dennard in the 7th round.

I don't know if it was because of the whole Jeffery situation, but he has a lot more potential than McCoy does.

Yeah definitely, I remember seeing mocks early in the year with us taking him in the first. That's obviously an exaggeration, but the kid certainly has talent and could work in a zone defense. I think the Pats got a steal getting him undrafted. I guess the whole punching a cop thing didn't really help his case, though...

Only real change would be in the 6th round:

Matt McCants UAB OT (he went to NYG at pick 201).

He's a project, but if we have a potential hole (due to injuries) on the offensive line, it will be at the OT position.

DeCastro vrs. Shea McClellen??

I'll trust Emery on this one.

I love our draft but you just basically had my dream scenario there.
