The level of competition is D1AA just like:
Desmond Bryant - Harvard
Taiwan Jones - Eastern Washington
Jared Veldheer was even lower at the D2 level. So we have seen that the "level of competition" thing doesn't fly as long as a guy is productive and putting up numbers. We will just have to see if that production translates onto this level. |
Yeah, his production is impressive regardless. _________________

29 sacks in 2 years and you don't see much as a pass rusher? I guess Reggie and the staff have it all wrong. And exactly how many San Diego University games did you watch over the last few years? Just sayin. _________________

No you are right, he is a superstar. A stud. Dwight Freeney reincarnate.
Reggie and his staff didn't rate him enough to draft him. I know you like your lower division college's, but not every kid who goes there is good. You do know that right?
My assessment was based on the 6 minutes of youtube coaches tape he showed slowish burst and lack of moves on that video. Period. _________________

You just made my point. I think the staff watched more than just a 6 minute highlight tape to make the asessment. So how can you know what translates in such a short cut up? 29 sacks in two years on the 1AA level is nothing to sniff at. It is quite possible that his game is not complete. Buta s a pass rusher there may be something there. You can't just discount that in a short clip on the net. _________________

You either have burst off the line or you don't. It doesn't come and go, its there or it isn't.
Doesn't mean he can't be successful, just saying he doesn't have the first step of most NFL pass rushers. _________________

Well, ain't that what i said? The level of competition just makes it harder to project those players in the pros. Some prove to be able to handle the jump, some don't. I have no idea in which category Kurn belongs. |

No I was talking about your "level of competiton is low" comment. There is nothing wrong with the 1AA level of competition. It all falls on the individual player. Hell we don't know if a guy from the SEC will be a bust. Our new FS Curtis Taylor was a beast at LSU. But he has done nothing in the NFL so far. _________________

The level of competition is low. When you're playing against a handful of NFL prospects throughout the year, that's a low level of competition. You have to dominate at this level just to get on NFL teams' radars. Kurn did. It hardly means it will translate to the next level though. And that's my only point. |
