We already have Kellen Davis in the LaDarius Green mold, we didn't need another. Emery said Tice wanted a TE to stretch the field, that definitely wasn't Green... | I think you're confused about Greens skill set. He's a vertical threat. He's almost more WR then even a flex TE. |

You're forgetting, I think Kellen Davis is massively overrated by nearly everybody on this board. |

You guys with this OL man....what OL in the draft or even remaining in FA, is better than our top 7 guys??? Seriously, what would we be doing with the OL that would have an impact on next season? The whole thing with the Bears is that we dont have top tier talent(except maybe Carimi)
We dont NEED to just bring in some random guys, Webb is someone our OC loves and has all the physical tools and then some, 6'8 335lbs. is SERIOUS physical potential and so far he has had no off-field problems. What guy in this years draft or FA would we find that is 6'8 335 and has played LT in this league for 2 years?
If the Bears had a bad year and was able to get one of those OL who in the top5 every year I would be for it, but just adding guys for fun is lame. | Webb only played LT for the one year so his achievement is even more compelling since he was switched out of RT over to the Left side and handled it as well as could be expected. With a shortened training camp to boot.
He actually was moved over when almost everyone expected the First Rounder would start there. Everybody seems to ignore the fact that the coaches thought he would do a better job than Carimi at that critical position. Are our coaches completely nuts? |

Nope. He's laying on his back on cloud 9...he should get used to it, because all these great weapons are going to get dusty while he's dumping off screens to Forte due to constant pressure. | I have to agree with you here bb80. I just pray for competition for Webb daily. | While I am not worried about Webb at all I would not be surprised for Emery to bring in another T after the next round of cuts takes place. Competition would only help. I guess they are thinking about the new OLineman as a guard but who knows. |

Depending on what we do for FA, I kind of look for C. Williams to compete.
With Chilo added we now have, Louis, E.W, Spencer, Chilo, and C.Williams, thats 5 guys for 2 spots
As I stated earlier in this thread, I look forward to what Emery does in and before TC. So far we have only seen him do a draft and bring in a few guys, havent really seen his vision for the team and how he will use these players.
Also, the change from Martz to Tice will be bigger than people think. I think we are in for some surprises in TC |
Jay being able to audible will save him a bunch of unnecessary hits too. | As will having an offense which uses the TE for more than a blocker. |

Every post you make is defending Webb. It almost like the Rex Grossman era all over but Webb . He is not a good player but we have to deal with it. No skills no potential...... would not be a starter for anyone in this league. Webb makes to many mental mistakes same as Rex made stupid choices all the time. Bad football players dont turn great at most they turn into solid depth . Let the game speak for iitself. C Williams never got the chance and he took on Jared hands down remember webb on Jared last season. If we arent going to draft talent move Williams back and give him a shot. |

I guess the "achievement" you refer to is ending the year. | While there are several, the most important is demonstrating durability to stay on the line for 28 straight games. It is also repeatedly ignored that the coaching staff did not expose Carimi to the rigors and stress of playing the position he had played throughout his whole career. They obviously think Webb is BETTER.
Most of us defending Webb place his play in the context of what he has been asked to do and understand he still has work to do to upgrade his play. His detractors refuse to acknowledge any good he has shown and just harp on the failures and refuse to admit that he has a lot of talent. |

It is what it is. People can yell about how the Bears should have drafted o-line or Reiff until they're blue in the face, but it doesn't change anything. Obviously that's not the route they wanted to go.
To me, everybody should be saying, "I hope Webb has a breakout year." It holds so much more merit than saying "he will suck and you all will see that I was right." |

As for C Williams, the problem is that he has yet to play a full year so there is little chance that the coaches are going to take out a guy who is durable and learning to replace him with a guy who has NOT been durable and who would also be learning. As much as I like CW that just is not going to happen. |

Surprised the forum in general is down on Rodriguez. Valuable player in my opinion. Phenomenal athlete and body type needed all over the place on special teams but will fill a variety of roles on offense as well. He's a solid lead blocker, but with those hands and that punch of his it wouldn't surprise me to see him back there on 3rd downs in protection. Has all of the skills you want down near the goal line.
I see a fan favorite coming. |
