I've always wanted to do one of those song or two a day threads, so I found me a co-host and here we go.
What you'll get:
for five days a week (monday through friday), you'll get 5-10 songs that FSU. What is FSU music? Is it metal? Is it punk? Is it d-beat? Is it hardcore? Is it thrash? Is it rap? Is it ---
who cares.
If it gets you jacked up to go out and FSU, its FSU music.
throughout the week- if there's something that you think should be deemed as FSU music- send it to us and on saturday and sunday, we'll put our favs, or if we dont have time to weed through em, we'll just put them all. _________________

Dont question it. Just go with it. If it feels good, smash it.
This will be fun! _________________

Discharge - Hear Nothing, See Nothing, Say Nothing
Well, to you younguns who have never heard of Discharge, they pretty much define this thread. They took what Motorhead did and just... made it dirtier. They were the punk band that metal heads liked. They were the metal band that punk rockers liked. They were so successful at doing what they did that 1) no one could define it and 2) since no one could define it, an entire genre is named after them and their drum beat- the genre of D-beat. The swedes and the japanese really like this genre.
Turn it up, crack a beer (preferably cheap, and only if you're of legal age in your municipality), find a friend (or not) and then crack another beer. _________________

since we started with an old song, now here's a band that pays tribute to said FSU mentality in the 21st century.
Red Fang - Prehistoric Dog
The Portland, Oregon degenerates just plain have fun. The driving rhythm from the four husky dudes just makes you nod your head. If you watch the video, they embody FSU in their own way. LARPing with beer can weapons. Someone gets decapitated, and a lot of beer was drank (drunken?). In a town known for hipsters, these dudes FSU. _________________

Couldn't get into the first song, but this one (plus the awesome video) I really like. I'll be following to expand my musical horizons beyond the handful of bands that are currently on rotation on Faction. _________________

Okay guys, so I am trying to stick, for the time being, with an "old school to new school" kind of theme as well. I have a ton of stuff to share. Particularly some of the old school punk. But I am going to try and keep from getting too "genre" specific or narrow things down too much. Just want to play stuff that can kick start you in the morning, or in the gym, or on the field of battle.
So the first is some old English Dogs. They're another great example of early 80's english hardcore (along with Discharge) and were always kind of in the Shadow of GBH. But they tended to show a bit of a metal edge from time to time, which was taboo in the scene at the time.

And for the newer stuff, I have been listening to a lot of Black Tusk lately. I dont know a ton about them other than theyre from Savanna with ties to Baroness and Kylesa.

Always remember to wear eye and ear protection. FSU responsibly. _________________
