That is an absolutely massive human being.
I'm excited to see him play. If he'd be able to back up both guard and tackle spots and maybe one day develop into a starter at guard, I'd be thrilled. _________________

You hit the nail on the head. This is exactly why they drafted him. Some upside and solid backup for 3 spots on the OL at a minimum.. In the 5th round I might add! _________________ Trent Richardson please!!! |

in camp and preseason I wouldn't mind seeing Miller at RT and Schwartz at RG. Then the other way around. _________________ The Dawgpounds new three headed monster!

I agree. You never know we may have found two starters on the right side. _________________

So Miller can get some reps at RT? |

Yes for a couple reasons.
1 A swing man needs some reps.
2 See if a Schwartz Miller combo at RG and RT is actually better.
3 See if Miller and handle the edge and if so it would allow for some unbalanced looks to the left. _________________ The Dawgpounds new three headed monster!

A couple of key draft picks and it looks like our o-line is in MUCH better shape this year than last. I'd love to see Miller eventually earn some starting time @ guard, he could be a road grater for TRich to run behind. _________________

Don't agree at all. You don't pass on a few good WR prospects for a guard.
Schwartz will be the starting RT on day 1, so he needs all the reps he can get at the position with the first team. There will be plenty of 2nd team reps to go around for Miller.
The only reason a 5th round rookie got significant playing time on the line last year was because of Eric Steinbach's injury. Ideally, you want to avoid that sort of thing. If the guy shows that he's hands down better at RT than Schwartz, then maybe you start to work him in with the first team. But to say you set out with that in mind is silly.
Schwartz was drafted because the need for a starter at RT was so great to keep their risky QB pick upright. They had their choice of essentially every RT in the draft at 37, and they chose him for the job.
Miller was drafted to back up multiple positions. He clearly doesn't have the immediate starter capability or they would have taken him at 37 instead. Each guy was targeted for specific roles, so that is what they'll get reps doing. |

I agree 100%. They brought in basically every RT prospect there was, and chose Schwartz. He's a RT, a proven player, against good competition, and very experienced.
Its funny that people think Miller should be the starting RT b/c he's 6'7".
And having two rookies starting next to each other on the OL would be the worst thing for a rookie QB and rookie RB. |

That is true but also at the same time this is the year to do it. We have a very tough schedule and at the least we should see Miller in the week 8+ at RG for a couple games if not the entire the entire second half. Schwartz is a day 1 starter at RT, T-Rich at HB, & Weeden will see the field possible 1st week starter.

I'd much rather have the vet starting. Unless Miller clearly out plays Lauvao or Pinkston, then he should just be a backup.
I am very excited about the progress guys like Little, Lauvao, Pinkston, and Cameron. Plus the addition of Weeden, Schwartz, and Trent. |
