Was this the guy that was talking trash about the Packers after their 2010 regular season game? This guy is a clown. Laughing

He does have 100% Medical Clearance to practice, but it was his MCL, but that injury at 31 years old I just don't know if he can be the same. Luckily he didn't rely on supreme quickness or athletic ability.

Another thing to note in this is that the Falcons wasted(err..used) a 5th round pick on another blocking FB. So there was little to no chance they could bring him back after spending a 5th round pick on a blocking FB. Sorry to type that twice, but even now I'm still trying to grasp why on earth the Falcons drafted a couple of players as high as they did. Oh well.

Back on topic, Ovie is a hammer (actually his nickname was "the drill") don't ask me why but that's what the fans voted him, and he rolled with it for about 2 weeks lol. He's just absolutely nasty in a power scheme (to answer that question) Atlanta hasn't been using ZBS for a long long time now. I can assure you that Jackson would love to have Ovie in front leading the way, that'd be a seriously bruising ground attack.

Guy is a class act, very sad to see him go but this is business and a necessary move. He had like a 3m cap hit, is 31 and came from a MCL.

I bet he finds a new place soon, great player and a guy every organization would love to have.

ACL tear I assume?

I don't think so. I believe it was just a MCL.
he tore both his ACL and MCL and was out for the year.

not true man. Atlanta has a lot of zone runs in their playbook and Ovie was a key blocker. just no more cut blocking plays when Gibbs left.

Injuries and money. Sad day for some Falcon fans. I was a fan of his too. Hope he latches on somewhere and continues being successful

This smells like a Pioli signing. We have a giant hole at FB right now unless we plan on playing Hillis there (unlikely) and if Ovie's willing to sign a one year, "prove it" kind of deal, I see him being a Chief.

Not sure if that's what I want to happen or not, but it just seems like it's a likely scenario.

Ovie is a boss.

I will miss him, I feel if only he wasn't injured last year that he could still be on the team, I think if we had him we would have been better running the ball last year, which would have made us see him more useful.

I hope he clears fully medically, and latches onto a contender.. guy deserves it he is a great guy.

I liked the idea of one of the guys on the first page who said he would welcome Ovie to the Texans.. I really think the Texans are on the verge of something great down in Houston, and I root for the Texans when it comes to the AFC, I liked them when they were first an expansion team.. I rooted for the guys like Kailee Wong and Jamie Sharper. I think Ovie would be a total asset for the Texans, blocking in front of Foster and Tate.. Ovie did wonders for Michael Turners career, I feel like he would be at least able to add something to an already dynamic running game that the Texans posses.

Which is exactly what I said, we don't and haven't run a Zone Blocking SCHEME in years. Didn't say we never ran any, but that's not our primary offensive blocking scheme.

Anyway, now there is talk of Atlanta possibly bringing Ovie back on the cheap, we'll see what plays out I guess.

actually zone runs vs. man runs in the past 4 years has been close to a 75-25 split with more zone runs. it's the style of blocking and it works. We're just not a Gibbs style team anymore so no one calls us a ZBS.
