|
|
|
According to Cantor Gaming which operates sportsbooks at the M Resort, Hard Rock, Tropicana, Cosmopolitan, Venetian, Palazzo, and the Palms in Las Vegas, the Browns are not favored in "ANY" games. I am not a gambler but as a Browns fan I was shocked that we were not at least favored in the Indianapolis game. The Browns are not getting any kind of love from the bookies.

I always make my money by betting the other team to cover. But now that Colt won't be the QB, i will be less inclined.
We will have to see how the beginning of the season goes now. _________________

Well lets look at it like this....last year we were actually favored among a few teams...and we all saw how that went....lets hope that the opposite happens this year
Plus it never hurts to have teams overlook us and make them pay for it. |

I've actually been using this to try to psych myself up...
A lot of people had us as a dark horse to be good last year. This year, no one is giving us a chance. Did anyone see the week 1 predictions in the general forum. Right now, or at least 20 mins ago, only 1 person voted that we would win week 1 at home against the Eagles. _________________ Adopt-a-Brown: Jabaal Sheard - Stats:

And we're the current odds-on favorite for the 1st overall pick.
Feels like 2007. Or at least that's what the homer on my shoulder is whispering in my ear. _________________ Cleveland Browns: We put the fun in dysfunction.

I'm actually a little surprised that we are 3 point dogs to the Colts. I guess I can see that we are both starting rookie QB's and they drafted Luck higher than we drafted Weeden, so they may be in a better position, but I think our defense is stronger than theirs and we should have a better running game as well. I'm more worried about Washington or even Buffalo than the Colts, but they are both 1 point favorites. _________________ Adopt-a-Brown: Jabaal Sheard - Stats:

Buffalo had a very good offseason... I think they beat the Browns by more than than point spread.
Colts - Skins - Browns... so much will depend on rookie QB play that it is a bit of a toss up. I do think the Browns have the best RB though.... |

| The colts are not going to win a game this year. They have no line or defense. Luck will regret not pulling an Elway on the colts. Luck will be compared to Couch in the near future. |

Yeah I don't see how the Colts are favored against us. Even with the addition of Andrew Luck, they are no where near as talented as the Browns.
It's amazing how so many people think the Browns will be the worst team in the league. Do you guys remember the thread in the NFL General forum where many people even admitted to not knowing much about teams like the Browns and the Jaguars? And guess what teams are being predicted to be the worst team in the league? The Browns and the Jaguars among a few others.
The few non-Browns fans who actually know a decent amount about the Browns don't think they will be the worst team next year. I mean, the Browns were two botched snaps away from being 6-10. Their offense was the main reason for their lack of success so even if the offense only improve a little bit, they should have a better record than they did last year. I imagine the offense will improve by quite a bit. I'm not saying they will have a good offense but that doesn't mean they can't drastically improve. The Browns were down to starting a fourth-sting RB who was on Houston's practice squad to start the year. Now, they drafted a RB who has the potential to be the best in the league. The passing game should also be better with the receivers improving and with Weeden now being the quarterback. Yes, he's only a rookie but it's plenty possible for a rookie QB to have success right away.
Also, the defense was already good last season and should only improve.
Since the schedule appears to be tough, I could see the Browns finishing around 4-12 or 5-11, although I think they'll be better than that. Even if they finish with four or five wins, I think they'll play much better than they did last year. Barring a ton of injuries to key players, I just don't see the Browns being the worst team in the league. I ask people to explain why they think the Browns will be the worst team and most people won't explain why. When they do, they'll say because of the QB play. Well, like I said, the Browns were two botched snaps from being 6-10 last year and the team as whole should improve from last year. Putting that into consideration, the Browns should win more games than they did last year even if the QB play remains the same. I imagine the QB play will improve, though. Even if a team's success is based solely on the QB play, the Browns shouldn't be considered the worst team next year because, even if McCoy was the starter, they wouldn't have the worst QB play in the league. _________________ Cleveland Browns Forum Hall of Fame Inductee

Anyone have the odds for each in the pre-season of last year?
Or 2009 for that matter? Willing to be a lot of people lost a lot of money on Cleveland @ New Orleans, or New York @ Cleveland in 2008. _________________

It's easy to get caught up in making a case as to how much better we got through the draft, at some pretty important positions (e.g., RB and RT).
It's just as easy to say that we should have significant organic improvement. Last year's rookies received a lot of playing time and should improve; the "new" systems aren't new anymore; and the HC/OC got some help on managing the O, although one constant is that he still will call the plays.
But a lot of other teams got better through the draft, maybe even better than we did, including our Division rivals in many pundits' opinions.
And other teams will experience organic improvement, as well. Andy Dalton, for example, should be better, as should Green and other players CIN added last year.
That gap between the Browns and their Division rivals was huge to begin with. It's hard to imagine that it has been closed that much in off-season. The Division rivals all were playoff teams; we, of course, were not...not even close.
If we can't win in the Division, the likelihood of significant improvement in the number of 2012 vs. 2011 wins is low.
I certainly would like to believe otherwise, but Vegas might well be right. _________________ Everything happens exactly the way it is supposed to happen...otherwise, it would happen some other way |
