That would put the Browns at 20 sacks allowed on the season. That is an absurdly low number. 2007 really spoiled us. |
I was exagerating I guess, but I feel Colt took so many unnecessary sacks and hits from holding the ball so long. |
he had to hold onto the ball because he was always trying to make plays...he was forced to try and make plays because this offense had zero playmakers last year. big difference from last year to this year is this guy named Trent Richardson. Weeden knows if a play blows up that he can throw it away and the next play he can just get it to TRich who can make a play. TRich could score at any point in the game with his running ability. Last year the offense was badly missing that ability. So McCoy had to hold onto the ball and hope something came open or attempt to force something |

all I ways saying is a lot of crap mccoy did, he did because he felt the pressure that he had to be the one to make all the plays because no one else had the ability to do so. Im just saying for a young QB he put a lot of pressure on him and its prolly what lead to a lot of his mental mistakes. you look at all the top QBs in the league and they have playmakers around them that make their job easiers. McCoy had zero playmakers around him and it made his life harder. Im not saying I want to give McCoy a shot at the starter, i dont because Weeden is the better.more talented QB but a lot of McCoys problems IMO could be truly connected to his horrible surrounding cast. I say half the blame is on him and half the blame is on his teammates. I think we saw the pressure of our WRs trying to froce big plays and it lead to the drops. Its like our WRs were thinking about what there first and second move was going to be before the ball was ever caught. u dont concentrate on the ball ur going to most likely drop it

Or they were thinking about the huge hit McCoy was throwing them into.
Weeden's lasers remove that fear.

Its nice to be hearing good things about a rookie QB in camp. I remember hearing Quinn and McCoy were showing really bad warning signs in camp early.

I was watching some video on mini camp on him and it showed him taking some snaps from under center as well, and to me he looked pretty comfortable in doing so

I would be comfortable taking a deuce with the bathroom door open in browns stadium if the place were empty. Wait until there is someone lined up on the other side and we will see how comfortable he looks under center.

As much as I'm starting to like the Weeden pick, I still think Colt deserves another chance to start in this league. But at this point, that chance can't be on the Browns. Are there any warm weather teams in need of a QB?
And I like that I'm hearing a lot of good stuff coming out of camp, but it's early May. Everyone's hearing good stuff out of camp in early May.

Not to be a downer....but I look at these rookie mini camps as if one of my friends stopped by and asked if I wanted to play catch with them...I'm sure most of us has friends that can throw a football pretty decently, esepcially if its just playing catch with friends...
Now we all know that Weeden can throw the ball with accurracy...but right now he is just playing catch with his receivers and not feeling any pressure coming at him or having to worry about his receivers being covered...
I like Weeden and could care less about his age now...but the thing that will be on my mind until we see him in a real game is...how will he deal with pressure and coverages...not to sound like a broken record, but, there were only like 2-3 teams in the Big 12 that had defences that could cover OSU's receivers (Blackmon being the main threat) and put pressure on Weeden...now I say Blackmon because you could see Weeden trying to force it to him when he felt pressure, even when Blackmon was in double coverage...
I love reading about any sort of training our players are doing because it gives us some sort of an idea on what we may be able to expect from them...I know they are trying to give us hopes, but I wish they would do it without making it sound like RG3's pro day...if anyone saw that you know what I mean...every throw RG3 made, even the short routes, was like "Wow, did you see the spiral on that?" or "Look how calm and collected he looks when he throws it"
Can't wait for training camps and the preseason! Well get a better glimpse of what we can expect from Weed |
