Not really surprising. McClellin could easily oust Indonije by the end of camp. The ESPN report on Jeffery suggests that Jeremy Bates and the Bears are going to try to base their passing game off of Denver's in 2008, so it sounds like they're going to try to use Hester like Eddie Royal, at least to start with. |
For what it's worth, I think that would be the best way to use him. Get him in space, create mismatches and send him deep on occasion while Marshall and/or Jeffery attract double teams. This offense has tremendous potential now. The possibilities are endless. Very versatile unit from top to bottom. _________________

Using Hester as the starting Z receiver is something that is going to be met with a lot of scrutiny from the Bears fanbase. Ron Turner used him as the starting X and Martz used him as the starting Z, and neither could effectively take advantage of his skillset. Most fans never wanted him to do anything but return kicks/punts and still feel that way. At the same time, you could argue that he has never played across from a receiver half as dominant as Brandon Marshall either.
It's also going to be met with a lot of scrutiny because I know most people want Jeffery to be a day one starter. Personally, I think Jeffery's best position may be Z receiver, but in a way I think he was also drafted to play X in the event that Brandon Marshall has another meltdown. |

I personally don't think Cutler will let Marshall get away with any more of his antics. They've obviously been pretty good friends for a while. To start the season, I see Hester starting opposite Marshall and having success doing so, but once Jeffery is up to speed, I see Hester being relegated to a "package player" to create mismatches all over the field. The great thing about both Marshall and Jeffery is both of them are GREAT blockers downfield. Obviously, that will help your running game, but your screens and drag routes will be very dangerous with guys like Hester and Knox as targets. I mean, if I'm an opposing defense, I have 3 valid concerns; stopping Forte, defending two tall, possession WRs who can out-jump most corners in the NFL and then, finally, not losing focus on limiting two speedy guys in Hester & Knox. The balance you guys have now is ridiculous. Defenses are gonna have to play you honest and that can only mean good things for your production. Forte should have his best year yet this season as a result. Noone can stack 8 or 9 guys in the box anymore to stop him with your receiving weapons. _________________

| Quote: | ESPN's Adam Schefter reports police have "struggled to find evidence against" Brandon Marshall in the March melee he was involved in at a New York night club, and that it's "likely there will be no charges."
Marshall allegedly "slugged" a woman during the fight, but has strongly maintained his innocence. He said in March he had "no fear at all" of being suspended for his role in the incident. New York police are expected to wrap up their investigation this week. |

A little surprised about Horn being released before TC…there has been some time put in to developing him over the last couple of years…guess he just didn’t kick on. |

| I really don't understand what the Bears are doing with Hester. This past weekend's story is that he's the starting Z. Today's story is he's going to get around 15 snaps per game... |

Much of it is writers writing stuff because they have to. Whether Hester starts over Jeffery or Bennett will be worked out in camp. If Jeffery is the beast that many of us think he can be then Hester won't be starting, or at least not starting for long. _________________

Hey, I thought I would stop by and let you guys know about the Make a Movie Draft starting up over in the Entertainment forum. Its a cool thing we've been doing for a while where each person drafts a director and a full cast for a hypothetical future movie, with a story of your choice. Anything is possible, and its a lot of fun if youre interested!

NYC police will not bring charges against Bears WR Brandon Marshall for a melee at a nightclub in March, said his attorney Harvey Steinberg.

Well it sounds official that he has been cleared. Hopefully he keeps his head out of trouble and focuses on getting some new jewelry this winter _________________ Adopt-A-Bear: Charles Tillman; Total Tackles- 86, Solo Tackles- 74, Passes Defended- 16, Interceptions- 3, TD's- 3 "Peanut Punches"- 10 Fumbles recovered- 2

Emery's a genius. Wonder if Ireland still stands by "we would have cut him anyway" |
