Some Kind of Hate by Blood for Blood
Listen, no one will ever confuse White Trash Rob for good ol Bill Shakespeare, but if you're angry and you like hardcore punk - especially the chugga chugga style and sing songy lyrics, you'll love this song. While they have an entire catalog of songs, after you listen to about 40 of them, you realize they only really have about 15 songs that sound different. luckily, if you just listen to the entire Outlaw Anthems album, you get about 10 of them. One of my favorite albums of all time- its fun, its angry, its so ridiculous its funny and for some reason- i bet you can find at least one song you identify with.
Bored and Violent by Oxymoron
Oxymoron is the definition of the word Skunx- they are Punks that play oi!. But they do it harder than some Oi! bands- do it dirtier [see the song wanna be a dirty punk] and do it with more studs and mohawks. _________________

I think you're living in my head! I was just about so send a PM with 2 songs:
"Wasted Youth Crew" by Blood For Blood
"Dead End Generation" by Oxymoron (Not the most FSU song, but my favorite by Oxymoron).
I got to see Oxymoron one time, at The Whiskey in Hollywood. Had to be around '97 or '98. Insane show. More mohawks and liberty spikes than any other show, except The Casualties of course.
Needless to say, 2 great selections here. _________________

What about you?
Oh, and I used to be a lot angrier when I was younger. I've calmed down quite a bit in my old age lol. |
I'm 33. Spent the kid years in Ontario/Rancho Cucamunga, and up until I was 27 about 1hr North of Santa Barbara. We went to most of out shows in Hollywood, Ventura/Oxnard, San Luis Obispo, and every once in a while in Pomona. _________________

Nice. We were probably at quite a few of the same shows in Hollywood and Pomona. Other than the Warped Tour, I've never seen any shows in Ventura, and I've never seen any in Oxnard or SLO. Not sure if you saw my post earlier, but my boss was (for a little while) in Ill Repute from Oxnard.
Been to Santa Barbara Bowl (I think it's called) a couple times, the last time about 15 years ago. _________________

I'm willing to be we traded elbows in the pit sometime in the late 90's-early 00's. _________________

Allright y'all. I am in the mood for some Accused. A band that gets wayyyyyyyy too little love. They didnt get enough back in the 80's. They dont today. Straight up pioneers. So I dont care what anyone says, I am showing the love by playing two songs from their 86 album The Return of Martha Splatterhead.

accused was tight.
here are mine for the day.
9 Shocks Terror - Attack With a Gasmask
9 Shocks Terror is from Cleveland. They are crazy. They are also nice guys. Mr Rogers in the beginning is tight. Listen- theres like no melody in this song, but as soon as it comes on it takes me back to being 17, having a Pabst Blue Ribbon in my hand, in some art gallery in a bad part of Cleveland moshing in the pit... and since there wasn't really a stage, the bassist was in the pit too.
Midnight - White Hot Fire
Midnight is also from Cleveland. They again, are crazy. Again, also nice guys. This band is more along the lines of Venom/Motorhead. Saw them set a stage on fire. Pretty tight stuff. their CD is called "...complete and total f******" if you want to search for it. its hard to get to their music since their name is just... midnight. _________________

just read up on Elgin James and the FSU gang [originally named after what this thread is named after, then retitled to Friends Stand United]. At least the guy was against neo-nazis and whitepower skins. _________________

Started indiscriminately assaulting anyone even rumored to have ties with the far-right, some of whom turned out to be completely innocent. Disrupted several shows I was at. Became hated by pretty much everyone who wasn't involved with them. _________________

sounds a lot like SHARP [for those that dont know- stands for Skinheads Against Racial Prejudice] skins, TBH. started with good intentions, but the aggressiveness of the 20-30 y.o. male tends to blur the lines between good intentions and bad practices. SHARPs used to beat up trad [short for Traditional--- these Skins just liked ska, reggae, dancehall music, getting dressed up to the nine's in 1960's jock fashion] skins [prob still do, but havent been to an Oi! or ska concert... in forever?] if they didnt have a SHARP patch--- even if they were for racial unity and listened to bands like the Specials and Symarip. _________________

Yeah, unfortunately a lot of times the best of intentions get ruined by ignorance and aggression. That was the whole reason I left the Straight Edge scene. A lot of the guys I was hanging out with got into the whole hardline militant thing, which I was against.
I also used to hang out with guys from United Youth, an anti-racist group of punks and skins out here in Cali (not sure about anywhere else). We did get into our fair share of altercations with nazi groups, but it wasn't like we went out looking for trouble (well..... sometimes), but a lot of times it was at shows and other times when both groups were at the same place at the same time. Needless to say I've seen more beatings and stabbings than I ever needed to. I think back to those times and realize that we didn't change anything, unfortunately, and that in the end, all the violence was for nothing. It's a shame that a lot of kids don't realize this until it's too late. _________________
