The Cards have finished woefully near the the bottom year in and year out in the majority of stats credited to an O-Line. Whether it's rushing, hurries, sacks or whatever, the Cards' O-Line has been little more than a punch line. The only constant throughout this misery has been Russ Grimm. Have the Cards just been that bad talent wise over the Grimm years or is it time for Grimm to go? _________________

I honestly think its a mix, I like Grimm and it seems like he is well respected around the league, i think he is a good teacher and is good at utilizing talent. unfortunatly i feel that we dont have that much talent on the line.. the prospects we give him r 4th 5th and 6th round picks usually and dont pan out (herman johnson).
I also think a big part of our sack problem is that we have had spotty QB play for the last couple of seasons.. Poor QB play and not a lot of quality talent to work with is the perfect recipe to finish in the bottom of the barrel for sacks allowed |

I've a critic of Grimm since he got here but I realized I was wasting my time because as long as Whiz is the coach Russ Grimm will get a pass every year. _________________

I'm in the same boat. I'm of the opinion that the players can only be blamed so much. The numbers were horrid during the Super Bowl year and only because of Warner's no fear of being hit did he succeed. _________________

No, he's not the only constant. The other? Our lack of early round college talent. Take away Levi Brown(Note: I do give Russ Grimm considerable criticism for his lack of developmental work with Levi) and you've got 1 4th round pick, 2 5th round picks and 3 7th round picks. That's it. And that's not even taking into account the weaknesses of those drafts as a whole talent wise...
You can't bring home a package of hamburger and expect your wife to turn it into prime rib. You bring home hamburger, you're gonna get a hamburger. You bring home low round picks and free agent cast offs, you're gonna get some rough offensive line play. 90 times out of 100, that's the way it's gonna be. _________________

Well if Grimm had any say in Al Johnson being the center here and the contract we gave him, than he certainly deserves some flack. But the talent that has been here has not progressed much. Lyle Sendlein is the one passable player that he has developed, but the same cannot be said for Lutui, Brown, Herman Johnson, and Brandon Keith among others. None of our offensive lineman have improved leaps and bounds since he has come here. _________________

Overrated and surviving on his reputation.
These aren't the Hawgs anymore. The game has passed him by. |

I always laugh when Mark May comes on KTAR and has been saying Levi is a Guard for 3 years. May and Grimm were the original Hogs and they both live here so I wonder if he's ever told him what the hell you're doing playing him at LT. _________________

One could say that Russ is a coach in the NFL and Mark May is not, and there is good reason for that.
But I can understand where he comes from, but I am not sure Levi would be that great inside as a guard, especially not in an offense that pulls alot. _________________ Patrick Peterson - 92 targets, 40 catches allowed, 602 yards, 6 TD's, 7 INT's

There's a lot of coaches in the NFL who shouldn't be coaches in the NFL. _________________

Yes true, but there is a reason why historically we have looked for guards (Left) who are a bit lighter than the guys we put at tackle. We want nimble quick guys at the guard spots because we pull so much on offense in the running game;
Daryn Colledge raised a few eyebrows last season being 6-4 and barely over 300 last season when he bought him in to play guard.
Reggie Wells started a long while here and was not much bigger.
Senioe Kelemete was just drafted this season and looks like a left guard into the future and he is 6-4 301.
Levi would play Right Guard in our offense, and while that may have led to some good play it is making him make another transition. If we get the Levi of the final 6 weeks of 2011 this season we are all going to be ecstatic. _________________ Patrick Peterson - 92 targets, 40 catches allowed, 602 yards, 6 TD's, 7 INT's
