Welcome to the 2012 Steelers Forum Fantasy Mock Draft!
This is USUALLY an annual event here on the Steeler forum, but last year...possibly due to the strike...we could not fill the league. Fortunately, we easily got enough members this year to get this thing off the ground, and now its time to have some fun!
Most of the participants this year have done this in the past and know what the dealyo is. For those who are knew, the concept of SFFMD is simple...you build a team from scratch. All rosters are empty and you can draft and mold and NFL team in your own vision.
Wanna create a team of all proven 30+ year old vets? Go for it.
Wanna create a team of rookies and 2nd year players who are all potential? Have at it.
Wanna create a team of OLineman playing every position? Oh wait, 3rivers isnt playing.
Wanna create a team consisting of only Antonio Cromarties offspring? Well...you cant do that, but for the most part, you can mold the team and draft any way you so choose.
Per usual, this will be a SNAKE DRAFT, as I am all sure you are aware of what it is.
This years draft will consist 45 rounds, and the roster requirements look like this...
Offense
-2 QB
-2 RB
-4 WR
-1 FB or another RB
-2 TE
-3 OT
-4 Interior lineman (2 OGs, 1 C, 1 Backup)
-2 Backups at any position (If you want a KR/PR specialist, use one of these picks)
Defense
Since people like to run different defenses and hybrids, I will allow you guys to dictate how to build your front 7. But...
-12 pl - Front 7 (mold how you want)
-4 CBs
-2 S's
-2 Backups at any position
Special Teams
-1 K
-1 P
Coaches
HC
OC
DC
 All veterans, rookies and coaches are fair game. I will not be having a seperate draft for rookies or coaches, nor will I set a round limit. kethaab, go ahead and draft Dontari Poe in the first. I know how happy you must be right now.
Please maintain an up to date depth chart in the depth chart thread.
Starting in round 26, each GM will pick twice, resulting in a 35 Total rounds
Trades are allowed, and I wont boycott any, but all trades have to contain equal amount of players and picks so that everyone ultimately ends up with a roster of 42 players and 3 coaches.
INITIALLY, I will not be setting time slots. I will start setting them when I feel there is a need. Out of respect for other members of SFFMD, please stick with this and keep up to date. If you feel you might end up getting busy and not be able to stick with it, either let me know or get a co-GM.
IF YOU MISS 3 COMPLETE ROUNDS WITHOUT PICKING OR LEAVING YOUR PICKS WITH SOMEONE TO DO IT FOR YOU, I WILL DELETE YOUR TEAM AND YOUR PLAYERS FROM THIS COMPLETELY AND WILL NOT ALLOW YOU TO RETURN, AND IF I RUN THIS IN THE FUTURE WILL NOT ALLOW YOU TO JOIN (BARRING EMERGENCIES OF COURSE). NOT DOING THIS TO BE AN A-HOLE, BUT EVERYONE HERE SHOULD KNOW THIS REQUIRES SOME ATTENTION AND DEDICATION. OBVIOUSLY WE ALL HAVE LIVES BUT IF YOU ARE GOING TO BE GONE, LEAVE YOUR PICKS WITH SOMEONE YOU TRUST.
Finally, draft order will be determined randomly. I havent created the order yet, but will soon.

1: 43M - Confirmed
2: Irish11
3: kethaab
4: treat - confirmed
5: jcm - confirmed
6: waffles - confirmed
7: Bobikus
8: SteelProven
9: bigben07mvp & Neumatic - confirmed
10: steelcurtain29 - confirmed
11: WardHOF & mosteelers - confirmed
12: stefan - confirmed
Still awaiting confirmation by those listed in red. Please do so immediately. If you fail to confirm by tomorrow evening, I will begin seeking replacements. If I find a replacements and you havent confirmed by Tuesday evening....your seat will be filled.
The draft will begin Wednesday May 23rd as of right now. GMs can starting picking at anytime on May 23rd.
Let's have fun with this, and stay active. Its a long offseason fellas....this is a fun way to keep the mind occupied.

No....I honestly have no idea why that was ever a rule anyway.
You can build the defense as you see fit and then declare at the end.

Especially considering some teams run hybrid 3-4/4-3 Ds and a lot more nickel. Should just be the guys you want and can shuffle around as needed later depending.

Well, at least we know our first round picks are safe given that Poe is all but a sure thing.
Rumor has it that keth is desperately trying to trade up to the number 1 pick to make sure he gets him.

Sorry, Keth, Poe is gone. I just couldn't resist...I was weighing my options...Poe..Rodgers...Poe...Rodgers...in the end, Poe weighed more and like you said, you can't teach size!!!
BTW, for real, our pick was made. Mo was waiting on confirmation from me...which he did not have to...I relayed as much to him as well. I certainly do not want to hold things up here..
