Pryor was a pretty successful QB at the college level. Both in terms of winning games and putting up good numbers. He also came from a more pro style offense then a lot of the QBs that were drafted in the past few years. Not to say that there wernt some spread principles in there for him but he took snaps from under center and actually had to make progressions.
I also hate when people think they can judge someones intelligence by how they speak. Some people get nervous in front of cameras in terms of interviews and they can sound less intelligent then they actually are. Some people just arent a master of words but dont lack the ability to get what is being told to them.

Kubiak didn't have to say anything. There was a reason Leinart stayed w/ Houston and didn't leave to join his old coach in Seattle last offseason. Kubiak and Co. liked him a lot and had a ton of faith in him. Said as much when Shaub was 100% and starting.
So the praise for him was there long before in Houston. Regardless, just hate on. We all know your bias in regards to the QB position. We will just leave it at that.

This was not a quote. This was Peter King's assessment from his conversations with Kubiak. That's the difference. Admittedly, some writers you can trust and some you can't. Writers for a national media outlet SHOULD have a ethical standard to meet whereas anyone associated with the team doesn't. I personally never roasted a neutral comment such as "showing signs of improvement".
My point was why such much hyperbole over a QB that we SHOULD be hoping never sees a snap? and isn't it odd that we're the only fan base focusing so much attention on a 3rd stringer?

Because that "third stringer" is Terrelle Pryor. If another team took him last year, they'd be just as interested in him as our fans are. It shouldn't be that hard to wrap your head around. When you have a rookie qb as highly touted, and with as much potential as tp there's going to be some interest. Don't pretend he's just some typical 3rd string qb that's going nowhere, has no room to grow and is just taking up a roster space. They can POTENTIALLY be our future franchise qb, so it's cool to know his progression.

Kubiak didn't have to say anything. There was a reason Leinart stayed w/ Houston and didn't leave to join his old coach in Seattle last offseason. Kubiak and Co. liked him a lot and had a ton of faith in him. Said as much when Shaub was 100% and starting.
So the praise for him was there long before in Houston. Regardless, just hate on. We all know your bias in regards to the QB position. We will just leave it at that. |
why didnt kubiak make a play for ml?
wasnt ml a free agent? if he had so much faith why not keep him as a insurance policy?

I agree with the bold but assessment can be just like assumptions.
i just would like to see tp take some snaps and play a series or 2 before he can be assessed. i also dont think you can call tp a third stringer just yet. wait until after the preseason at least. We all have seen what ml can do in the nfl some are happy with his production others like myself arent impressed.......we have yet to see what tp can do in the nfl.

/shrug Ok . . . He's just a 3rd stringer to me. I've always said that Pryor was collateral damage of the Palmer trade as I don't foresee anyone being the QB of the Oakland Raiders in 2014 other than Palmer, who has been more than willing to restructure to free up cash. I just don't see how Pryor can logistically get on the field and I don't see McKenzie re-uping Pryor as an unproven starter in 2015. I'm sorry, I just see Pryor on the wrong side of a numbers game.

You are making a lot of presumptions.
In order for Pryor to never see the field:
1.He will have to be beat out by Leinart this year and years to come.
2.We will have to be a winning team, even though nearly all projections say otherwise
3.And Palmer will have to stay healthy, and he has a history of injuries and is getting older.
And in 2014 Palmer will be 34 and Pryor will be 24, lets not forget Palmer has had major injuries and will probably get injured again at some point in the next 2 years.
Whether it's Pryor or another guy(hopefully a good prospect), if the Raiders don't make the playoffs and make noise in the near future our defensive minded coach and GM will not continue to pay him 10-15 million per year.
Palmer needs to prove it on the field and win games and then these threads will disappear. |

I like this guy. Let's have Palmer around for 5 more years and have all this hype around Pryor keep building and then trade him for a 1st or 2nd round pick and let him attempt to please someone else hahaha

Did you see TJ Yates play? Younger and cheaper backup option and their future is Shaub.
