Quote:
The fit: Gettis is the perfect lineman for the zone blocking scheme. He is fast and athletic, just what Shanahan is looking for. He also is very undersized for a guard at 293 pounds. But size matters much less in the zone and it the fact that Gettis is a relative lightweight allowed him t slide into the fifth round. Gettis also possesses a nasty streak that is always welcome on the offensive line.

Shanahan on Gettis: “Yeah, he’s got the quickness we look for, kind of like Kory Lichtensteiger. You know, he can play center or the guard position. He’s got speed. You can never have enough depth in that offensive line.

Gettis on Gettis: (on his nasty streak) “That’s what football is all about. You know, just getting after people, working hard, putting guys on the ground and getting back up and doing it again. That’s what I believe football is all about.”

Much like our other picks after the 4th round, I think you will see Gettis on the practice squad. Like Rich Tandler says, he's a perfect fit for our scheme and like LeRibeus he has a nasty streak in him. He's versatile like Kory L, Monty, and LeRibeus are also. This is a good thing for our future, the more versatile these interior lineman are, the better for us. I think he's on the practice squad this year and then next year he will make the team as a depth player.

I actually see Gettis, Morris, and Bernstine all making the roster this year with Crawford on the PS. I think our interior O-line will be made up of Licht, Lerib, Gettis, Montgomery, and Chester. I think Hurt gets cut personally. At tackle I see Williams, Brown, Compton, and Smith.

Could be, but it's hard to predict right now I guess. I just think Hurt would have to look pretty awful this offseason to not make the roster next year. As the year went on he kept getting better and better, so IMO Hurt has an advantage over the other younger interior lineman, but he's not as versatile. As you know, hurt is only a guard, like Chester. Don't forget we also signed James Lee from Tampa Bay who can play both Guard and Tackle.

I tell ya what though, one thing Gettis has going for him is his first name! Laughing It's the same as mine Cool

Mo Hurt could be released but the reasoning would be that he hasn't displayed the work ethic necessary to improve. If he's put in the work in the weight room, he has a good shot at staying. If he's released, it will be clear that he has not shown a strong work ethic.

Anyone catch this kid on Redskin Nation yesterday?

Highly impressive.
Chose Iowa from a number of others because of education. No scooting through on crap "football" classes. And says their motto was "education excellence".

Extremely well spoken and constantly mentioned family and their importance.

Anyone who still defends "so called" educated college players when they are talking ignorance or "hoodish" or whatever. Need to listen to interviews from 99% of our last 2-3 draft classes. Cause wow. I really like these guys, these are great kids more than just on the field.

Not every person in the world grows up in the same environment.

Yeah, I think he will end up being a better player than LeRibeus. I just have this gut feeling. He reminds me of Kory L and they are the same size. I think Adam fits our scheme perfectly also and I think LeRibeus needs some work till he gets our scheme down.

Also, he's got a great first name!! Cool
