|
The films of the Make A Movie draft are completed! These are hypothetical future films, in which we each drafted the cast and crew, developed the story, and put it all together. A lot of hard work went into these, so some feedback is GREATLY appreciated!
We usually do an Oscar-like awards ballot. These are of course, purely speculative, but they are still fun to see.

Directed by Andrew Dominik
Cinematography by: Roger Deakins
Mild Bill follows the true story of L.A. traffic cop - turned contract killer, Bill Leasure (Sam Rockwell). Bill Leasure is known around the force as a gentle creature, never getting into fights, never being rude, always just happy to be there. In 17 years he has never asked for a promotion, and seems quite content with living as a simple traffic cop, living off of his prosecutor wife (Kate Beckinsale)'s salary. In reality, however, Bill Leasure has a mind for crime. Leasure, along with his favorite hitman, Dean Winebaugh (Colin Farrell), and newbie, Dennis France (Stephen Graham), take hefty sums of cash to carry our hits in the L.A. area. Sloppy moves turn the heat on Bill, as his superiors in the force start to investigate the crimes. Well known detective "Jigsaw John" St. John begins to take special interest, and Leasure soon finds that it is difficult to contain all of your efforts, and keep your men concentrated.
Sam Rockwell as Bill Leasure
| Quote: | | Content with the illusion of him as a simple, need-to-go-nowhere traffic cop, Bill Leasure lives an alter ego as one of L.A.'s biggest criminal masterminds. Bill, along with his crew of killers, carry out expensive hits in the area. Later on, Bill even gets involved in a multi-million dollar yacht theft ring. Bill does all of this under the nose of his wife, Betsy, a Los Angeles prosecutor. Things get more complicated when those who work for him begin getting sloppy. Bill is a very calculating man, but can be viciously ruthless when given the motivation for it. Bill's greatest talent, however, may be his ability to lie, and live a lie himself. In the force, Bill is jokingly referred to as "Mild Bill", for his laid back attitude and innocence. In the LAPD, Bill has been just one rank above rookie for his entire 17 year career. |
Kate Beckinsale as Betsy Mogul-Leasure
| Quote: | | Betsy is Bill Leasure's second wife, but the two seem to genuinely care for each other. There isn't a lot of trust there, but they could always overcome that. Betsy is now aware of her husband's crimes, she only knows that he is up to something. She assumes that he is out drinking, or maybe even cheating on her, but she could have never suspected what he was really out all night doing. Betsy is also fairly well known in the lawyer-sphere. She is a successful L.A. city prosecutor, known for being no-nonsense, and getting people what they deserve. |
Colin Farrell as Dean Winebaugh
| Quote: | | Dean is a lifetime criminal, befriended later in his life by Bill Leasure. Dean now works for Bill, as his favorite hitman. Dean is a very good killer, with his own private arsenal. Dean would probably be a flawless hitman if he always used his brain. When it came to getting a job done, and not getting caught, he always came out on top, but he lacks basic common sense sometimes. Things get more complicated for Dean when he starts sleeping with Paulette de los Reyes, the wife of one of their contract-givers. |
Stephen Graham as Dennis France
| Quote: | | Dennis is a welder, and an up-and-coming criminal in L.A. he joins Bill's crew a few months prior to the start of the film. Unbeknownst to Bill, Dennis is still not completely comfortable with the idea of killing another person for money. He is asked to carry out the deed for the first time with the murder of Anne Smith. Dennis is later approached by Detective St. John's men, and is offered a deal to flip on Bill Leausre. Dennis is also a very smart guy, and is good at getting what he wants. |
Joaquin Phoenix as Tony de los Reyes
| Quote: | | Tony is a man of plots. He is constantly getting his hands dirty to get ahead. Tony and his wife, Paulette, approach Bill Leasure and Dean Winebaugh with a contract, a contract to kill Gilberto, his stepfather and the owner of their business. Tony is satisfied with the killing for a while, but approaches Dean Winebaugh to kill someone else. He tells Dean that he believes that his wife is cheating on him with someone, and demands that Dean kill both Paulette, as well as the man she's cheating on if possible. Dean finds himself in an awkward position. |
Violante Placido as Paulette de los Reyes
| Quote: | | She has a strained relationship with her husband Tony. She married him because of his ambition, but was starting to find his only redeeming quality to become tiresome. She is an accomplice in the hit on Gilberto, and it is in that meet that she meets Dean Winebaugh. She and Dean begin a relationship behind her husband's back. Although he begins to have his suspicions. Dominik describes Dean and Paulette's relationship as, "really, the only honest one of the film,". |
J.K. Simmons as John P. "Jigsaw John" St. John
| Quote: | | Detective St. John is one of the most respected members of the L.A.P.D., by both his colleagues and the public. St. John is trying to figure out who is behind recent connected killings. He believes Dean Winebaugh (Colin Farrell) to be the mastermind, but as clues unravel, Bill Leasure (Sam Rockwell), a fellow cop, and the man responsible for the killings, gets keeps a wary eye. Bill becomes worried when an officer as renounced as St. John, takes a liking to his case. |
Vincent Regan as Tom King
| Quote: | | Described as a cop with poker-faced authority. Detective St. John makes Tom King his right hand man in the investigations into Bill Leasure's murder. King, as well as his partner, Hopper, are made responsible for tracking down Dennis France, bringing him in, and trying to convince him to flip on who he works for. |
Jaimie Alexander as Lyndsey Hopper
| Quote: | | Tom King's partner, a young cop. She works with him to talk to Dennis France, and convince him to give up information. While Tom King prefers confrontation, Lyndsey sees herself the smooth-talker. |
Jamie Hector as Ralph Gerard
| Quote: | | Ralph Gerard is Bill Leasure's partner on the force. He isn't aware of the extent of his crimes, but he doesn't really try to snoop to much into his business. Gerard himself is guilty of filing false insurance claims, so the two have a don't ask, don't tell understanding. Gerard has a great deal of trust and respect for Bill, as over the years, Bill had stuck with him through some of the racism within the force. |
Mark Addy as Robert Kuns
| Quote: | | Robert is the man that gets Bill involved in the yacht thieving buisness. A man with a history of robbing banks, Robert Kuns is kind of a goofy person, and likes to present himself as a playboy, the opposite of Bill's style. He also sees himself as invincible. The two of them come to an understanding however, and successfully steal almost 15 luxury yachts, an unheard of feat. |
Adam Scott as Jerry France
| Quote: | | Jerry France, the brother of Dennis France (Stephen Graham). Jerry plays a small, but important role in the film as the domino that sets off the fall. When Jerry is brought in by the cops for writing bad checks, he mentions that his brother may be working for a dangerous man. |
Mark Margolis as Gilberto Cervantes
| Quote: | | One of the victims of Bill Leasure's crew. Gilberto is the unfortunate owner of a business that Tony de los Reyes wants to inherit, so he gets the hit put on him. |
Kevin O'Rourke as Art Smith
| Quote: | | Art Smith hires Bill to kill his wife, Anne. He pays a great deal for the deed. He is a business man at heart, and expects that no strings be attached in the deal. Clean murder, as Art finds out, is no easy thing. |
Tea Leoni as Anne Smith
| Quote: | | Another unfortunate victim of Bill Leasure's crew. She is killed in her salon by Dennis France. |
Malin Akerman as Stacey
| Quote: | | Bill Leasure first meets Stacey when he pulls her over for rolling through a Stop sign. He pulls the charm on her, lets her off with a warning, and then successfully scores a date. Bill sees Stacey a couple times, and even brings her aboard on a cruise (aboard a stolen yacht) |
Story
| Quote: | The film opens with the murder of Gilberto Cervantes (Mark Margolis). A car pulls up just behind Cervantes' home driveway. Dean Winebaugh (Colin Farrell) gets out of the passenger side, a gun clearly tucked into the back of his belt. Winebaugh approaches Cervantes, claiming to be a neighbor nearby. He has a short conversation with Cervantes before shooting him twice in the head with a silenced pistol. Winebaugh goes back to the car, where we see Bill Leasure (Sam Rockwell) driving, as the car then speeds away.
The next scene we see shows a cop car slowly pulling to a stop along the side of the freeway. Inside we see Bill and his partner, Ralph Gerard (Jamie Hector) chatting away about trivial things. Bill subtly brings up that he is buying a vacation home in the Caymans. He explains that his wife's job as a city prosecutor affords him such luxury. Bill then hoes home, where he meets his wife (Kate Beckinsale), for a quiet night. The next day, Bill, Dean, and Dennis France (Stephen Graham), go to meet with the Tony de los Reyes (Joaquin Phoenix) and his wife, Paulette (Violante Placido), who both ordered the hit on Cervantes. Bill rudely tells Dennis to stay in the car, which Dennis takes as a sign that he isn't trusted yet as a new member of Bill's crew. Tony asks to speak with Bill privately about the funds, so Dean takes Paulette outside for a cigarette. Paulette complains that her husband doesn't let her in on "the man's conversations", despite the hit being her idea. Dean sympathizes with her, and lights her cigarette.
We then get out first look at Bill's place of work, the L.A. police department. We get a short scene of Bill and Ralph, but then are introduced to Detective St. John (J.K. Simmons), the hero of the LAPD. He and his associates discuss the Gilberto Cervantes murder. St. John pegs Tony de los Reyes, Cervantes' step-son, as his top suspect. Next, we see Dennis, who is washing Bill's car for him while Bill smokes. Their conversation grows more and more hostile, until Dennis finally spits out that he is upset with his role in Bill's crew. He tells Bill that he is ready to get his hands dirty. Just when he thinks hes about to be told "no" again, Bill tells him that he has a job in mind for him. Elsewhere, Dean Winebaugh and Paulette de los Reyes meet up, and spend the night together.
Bill drives him to a salon, where employee Anne Smith (Tea Leoni)'s husband has requested her demise. Bill goes over the plan with Dennis, who is struck with nerves. Determined to prove himself, Dennis enters the salon, gun concealed. He asks for Anne by name, and then asks her to talk to him in back. Confused, she goes with him to see what he wants. Instead of killing her right away, Dennis' nerves cause him to try and converse with her. When he can't fully explains what he wants, Anne tries to go back inside. She doesn't get her hand on the back door before Dennis shoots her and runs back to he car. When Dennis gets back in the car, Bill is furious with him for taking so long, claiming that they needed to leave 2 minutes ago. But the job is done. Detective St. John later arrests a local meth head for the crime, having been seen by a (paid off) eye witness.
In the next scene, we meet a stranger (Adam Scott). He is just leaving his band when a group of squad cars surround him. The stranger turns out to be Jerry France, Dennis' brother, and he has just been arrested for writing fraudulent checks. Jerry selfishly points out to the police that he can help them catch a contract killer, his brother.
Elsewhere, Bill Leasure meets up with an old acquaintence, Robert Kuns (Mark Addy). Kuns, a former bank robber himself, comes to Bill with a proposition. A fool proof scheme to steal over 15 luxury yachts, and resell them to friendly buyers. Bill, growingly upset with his crew's amateur attitudes, accepts, happy to be working with a civilized professional. Leasure and Kuns pull of the first hijacking without a hitch.
Tony de los Reyes tries to get ahold of Bill, but with Bill out of town, he can only get an answer for Dean Winebaugh, his right hand man. Tony tells Dean that he needs to meet with him immediately, and that it concerns another job that needs to be done. Dean grabs his gun just in case, and goes to meet with Tony. Tony sits down with Dean at Tony's place of work, which at the moment is closed. Dean grows increasingly nervous that Tony knows of his affair with his wife, as Tony keeps beating around the bush about what job he had in mind. Tony finally tells Dean that his wife is cheating on him. Dean, now totally on edge, slowly gets his gun ready on his lap, pointing it under the table at Tony. Tony tells him that he wants Dean to kill his wife, Paulette, and the man who is sleeping with her. Dean finally puts his guard down in relief, and replies "Sure.....but I'll need the payment up front"
The next scene shows Dennis France being brought in by the authorities. Dennis meets with officers Tom King (Vincent Regan) and Lyndsey Hopper (Jaimie Alexander), who are working on Detective St. John's behalf. They don't believe that Dennis is a killer himself, but believe that he works for one. Dennis collects his thoughts, and then proposes a plan. He'll reveal the person behind the Cervanes and Smith killings in return for full immunity. Officer King agrees, but is horrified when Dennis immediately reveals himself as a hitman himself. They had just given a killer full immunity, but they could at least make the best of it, and ask for the rest of the story. Dennis mentions Bill and Dean by name when Detective St. John meets with him, but St. John tells him that they'll need solid evidence before they can convict, and demands Dennis' help once again.
Dean meets with Paulette and warns her about what her husband said. Dean says that there is only one way for her to stay safe. We see Tony de los Reyes as he gets home from work. He calls for his wife, who isn't home. Tony shrugs and goes to the bedroom, where Dean sits patiently with a shotgun. Tony can only stare like a deer in the headlights as Dean blows him away.
The next scene gives us a shot of Dennis. Sweating, he knocks on Bill's door. Bill greets him happily (Bill's wife is home at the time, so he puts up an act) and tells him that he'll speak with him in his office. Dennis welcomes Bill back from his trip awkwardly. We are then shown that Dennis is wearing a wire, and Detective St. John and crew are listening in.
Bill doesn't really seem in the mood to talk, and begs Dennis to get to his point. Without a point, Dennis proceeds awkwardly. He bluntly starts asking irrelevant questions about past jobs, questions about specifics. Upon hearing the questions, Bill only stares at him with a very serious look on his face. Dennis laughs it off, and asks again. Bill doesn't respond, but instead gets a pen and paper. He writes something on it, and flips it to Dennis. The note only reads, "Who do you think you're dealing with?" Dennis' heart rate spikes, as he excuses himself. Dennis then runs for his life to a squad car, which is waiting out of sight nearby. Bill sends a text message to Dean Winebaugh, it is in code, but Dean knows what it means.
Bill sees it best that he skip town for a while. He takes his wife on vacation to their home in Puerto Rico. Bill's other reason for being there however, is to meet up with Robert Kuns, where they plan on pulling another yacht job. Elsewhere, Dean Winebaugh has Dennis at gunpoint, Dennis having had gone there to grab the last of his belongings. Dean lectures him before pulling his weapon. He is just about to fire when the police burst in and arrest him. We then see Bill on the front of a yacht. His wife is behind him, tuned around at the bar. She say shes mixing drinks, and ask him if he wants one. Bill says no thank you, and then stares into the horizon. Bill then spots a bunch of boats coming near him, he figures likely police boats. Bill looks over at his wife, who is in the middle of the happiest moment of her life as she knocks glasses with her friends aboard the deck of the yacht. He admires his wife's last moments of blissful ignorance and then yells back, "On second thought...I think I'll take that drink". |

Plot - Warning: This is EXTREMELY long...I didn't want to summarize
A man exits a limo around midnight and walks towards his house as his driver says, “Good evening, Senator Fitzgerald”. Fitzgerald unlocks the door and turns on the light switch next to the door but the light does not turn on and after flipping it a few more times, Fitzgerald sighs, gives up and walks towards another room. As Fitzgerald nears the other room, a shadow of a man(Valley) appears behind him, grabs him, takes him to the ground and breaks his neck. The man then opens the door and slips out into the darkness. Next, we see a bedroom with an aging man and woman asleep in the bed around 5 AM. All of the sudden, a telephone rings; the man awakes and picks it up. The voice on the other line says, “Senator Koslowski, the President needs you for an early morning meeting as soon as you can possibly get here”. After hanging up the phone, Koslowski gets out of bed, heads to the window and opens the shades to let light in then walks towards the bathroom but after a couple of steps we hear glass breaking behind the man and see him fall to the floor with a bullet hole in the back of his head. His wife hearing the glass break and seeing him drop, screams, jumps out of bed, runs over to him and kneels by his side screaming and sobbing, “Jack? Jack?” then turns to run to the phone to call 911. The camera pans and zooms in across the street to show the back of a man(Donovan) carrying a briefcase in the building across the street walking through the door and out of the picture. After this, we see a park around 8 AM with an older man jogging, as he passes a female jogger, she stops and says, “Morning, Representative Downs, how are you today?”. Downs stops and says, “I’m doing well, just doing my best for my country, have a nice day, Jean” and both start to jog again in opposite directions. The camera pans to the back of Downs as he jogs with no one around him and shows a fit man(Hardy) jogging up behind him, when the man gets right behind Downs, he brings his hand up with a silenced pistol behind Downs’s head, fires one shot into the back of Downs’s head and keeps jogging as Downs falls. The man jogs to a waiting van, hops in and the van speeds off.
Inside his office, Congressman(Representative) Michael O’Rourke(Norton) discusses with his brother and chief of staff, Tim O’Rourke, the bribe Jack Koslowski and the President had made to him the day before if he changes his vote on the President’s proposed budget. O’Rourke is conflicted and before they can come to a resolution, his secretary sprints in and tells him to turn on the TV. O’Rourke turns on the TV to the news and discovers that Senator Koslowski, Senator Fitzgerald and Representative Downs have been assassinated. O’Rourke remarks that he won’t miss them and his brother scalds him for it.
FBI Special Agent Skip McMahon(Adam Baldwin) and FBI Director Roach are walking in the White House and discussing how they will handle the upcoming meeting with the President on the assassinations of the three congressmen. McMahon is the agent in charge of the investigation. They walk into the Oval Office and inside are President Stevens(Itzin), Stu Garrett(Giamati), the President’s Chief of Staff, Thomas Stansfield(Cromwell), the Director of the CIA, Irene Kennedy(Blanchett), the CIA’s top terrorism expert, and Mike Nance(Southerland), the President’s National Security advisor. McMahon briefs them on the investigation, tells them that all other congressmen are accounted for and says that those 3 appear to be the only targets. The President asks the group who they believe was responsible. Stu Garrett immediately exclaims that it was terrorists. Irene Kennedy cuts him off, telling him that he’s not informed enough on either subject and says she believes it was military commandos that carry out the task because there was no collateral damage and the assassinations were low key and efficient. Garrett starts to argue with her when the President’s assistant runs in to tell the President that NBC had received a letter from the men responsible and was about to read it live on TV. The President turns on the TV and the group watches as the letter is read demanding that the President’s budget be changed and demanding the end of partisan politics, warning that if it does not happen that they will strike again and can get to anyone and everyone. The group at the meeting sits in silence as the news anchor finishes reading the letter.
Back in O’Rourke’s office, he has just finished watching the same NBC broadcast as the President when the phone rings. O’Rourke answers the phone and speaks to his grandfather, Sheamus O’Rourke(De Niro), about his upcoming trip to DC, questions whether being a congressman is right for him talking about how big of a factor the death of his best friend, Mark Coleman, a year ago in a mugging had on him, questions if he’ll run for another term and hints that he might know something about the assassinations but can’t reveal over the phone before hanging up. O’Rourke then stands up and walks out the door onto the sidewalk. He walks down the street and into a bar where he meets his girlfriend, Liz Scarlatti(Hathaway). They talk about the assassinations for a moment when the President comes on TV addressing the nation about the murders…he claims the letter sent to NBC was disinformation and that they will apprehend the terrorists responsible for the murders. After he finishes, Scarlatti asks O’Rourke what he thinks, he says that he doesn’t believe the President and has doubts about whether they are terrorists.
The next day, Michael, Liz and Sheamus who had just arrived are on the couch watching an interview with the speaker of the House who emphatically says they will not give into the demands of the terrorists. Michael and Sheamus go out for a walk and discuss what Michael couldn’t say on the phone. Michael talks about a hunting trip they went on but Sheamus cautions him not to mention any names as they never know who is listening, Michael then continues by saying he gave that person sensitive info on a Senator who had caused the death of half of his unit. Sheamus tells him that he’s not sad those 3 congressmen were killed because it might finally bring about change. Michael tells him that he’s worried that it’ll spin out of control and their friend might get caught. Sheamus ends the conversation by telling him to keep it under his hat and let things play out the way they will.
Stu Garrett is in a room with 2 aides waiting for the President to come on TV for his address. While waiting, Garrett boasts about how brilliant he is for coming up with this strategy, how he had tricked the media and how this would earn the President another term. The President comes on TV and says that the terrorists will not get their way. He says he’s heading to Camp David this weekend with leaders of both parties to hammer out the budget so it will get swift resolution through congress.
The assassin that killed Downs(Hardy) sits in his car waiting outside the ABC station. When he sees the van that covers the White House enter the parking garage, he gets out of the car, puts on a red ABC jacket and grabs a camera. The man then walks into the garage over to the can and picks the lock to get in. He takes out a screwdriver and breaks into the TV switchboard in the back installing a device in the wiring then closes the switchboard and exits the van. The assassin then gets back into his car and drives away. Next, we see the assassin that killed Koslowski(Donovan) step out of his car in the early AM, cross the street and walk down a footpath into a heavily wooded park. As he reaches a gravel road, a van pulls up, a man gets out handing him 2 bags and asks, “Last one?” the assassin says, “Yes”. The assassin takes the bags and walks towards a bridge that connects Virginia to Washington. He finds a clearing next to the bridge and sets the bags down. He opens the first bag pulling out a small radar dish attached to a gray box, a car battery, power cables and camouflage netting. He hooks the car battery to the radar unit and covers it with the netting. He then pulls out a wood board with 6 plastic tubes. Inside the plastic tubes are flares. He hides the board in some bushes, attaches a battery and a transponder to them, grabs the bags and leaves.
Jack Worsch, the head of the President’s details, argues with Stu Garrett over whether the President should head to Camp David. Garrett demands he does saying the President can’t give off the image that he’s afraid to leave the White House and that Camp David is safer than the White House. Worsch tells him that he’s not worried about Camp David, he’s worried about the flight to Camp David. Garrett tells him it’s his job to make sure all the necessary precautions are taken to insure safety. Worsch comments that he’s taken extra precautions for this trip by having 10 different helicopters depart at different times taking different paths that the President could potentially be on along with 4 helicopters escorting each of those 10 but he’s still not happy with the idea of it. Garrett tells him to deal with it and walks away. Worsch radios to the agents at the front to make sure they tell the vans to delay the video feed of the President entering the aircraft.
The assassin is driving a brown van with a satellite dish on the roof down the road. Before he reaches the bridge seen earlier, he pulls off to the side of the road out of the vision of motorists. He walks to the back of the van and sits down in front of monitors and a switchboard. He turns on the monitors to ABC, punches in the codes to the device he planted earlier and flips a switch to receive ABC’s live feed. The assassin sees the President and Stu Garrett get on the 3rd Helicopter through ABC’s feed. He picked up his cell phone and dialed a number. On the other end, we see an old man take out his ringing phone. The phone rings 3 times then stops. The man then opens his coat which has a small black box taped inside. The black box had a number pad, an enter button and a power switch. The man flipped on the power switch then turned back towards what he now can see is the White House and the helicopter that the President is on. He punched two numbers into the box and waited for the President’s helicopter to fly off. When the helicopters took off, the man pressed enter and we see four different shots of radars hidden in various spots like the radar hidden under the bridge suddenly turn on.
Inside the 5 helicopters escorting the President, warning lights started to go off that they were being tracked by missile radars. Reacting as they were trained, the helicopters shot off flares and changed their path to try and avoid the radars. They kept banking and changing their paths until they could get to safety as trained. Finally, they reached the safety of the bridge, lowered altitude and flew over the clearing next to it…all the radar warnings in the helicopters went silent.
The assassin in the van seeing the helicopters punched in the code to the transponder attached the wooden board with the flares. He hit enter. The helicopters seeing the red streaks heading towards them scattered. The President’s helicopter was without protection.
The old man steps out of a car on a street a block from the White House, picks up the phone and dials a number. The phone rings and the voice mail of Skip McMahon is heard on the phone. The man takes out a Dictaphone and hits play. The message that plays says that they are in possession of stinger missiles and could have easily shot down the President’s helicopter but chose not to because they do not want to kill the marines and Secret Service agents on board. They say that unless the President listens to their previous demands, the next target on their list is Stu Garrett for the lies he has told the American people. They also demand the President stops labeling them as terrorists or he will die. The old man hangs up the phone, steps back into his car and drives away.
Michael O’Rourke is waiting in his truck outside a building when he sees the man he’s looking for round the corner. O’Rourke steps out of the truck, walks up the man and says, “Scott, you’ve been awfully hard to get a hold of”. Scott(Hardy) tells Michael that he’s been busy and acts like he has somewhere to be. Michael asks him if he’s keeping him from something. Scott tells Michael that he always has time for his brother’s best friend. Michael asks Scott if he knew about anyone who might be responsible with what happened to the President’s helicopter earlier. Scott says no. Michael asks him if he remembers the information that Fitzgerald’s big mouth led to the deaths of half Scott’s Navy Seal unit and how he was taking the assassinations. Scott says he’s not mourning them and asks Michael if he’s talked to the FBI. Michael says no and that they can handle this 1 on 1. Michael also asks him if he knows who the assassins are, to give them the message to back off and give them time to institute reform. Scott tells him that he’s not sure if the assassins, if he did know them, would listen since the President might not have gotten the message and tells him that he has to go. Scott warns Michael to tell his friend Senator Olson that now is not a good time to get into bed with the President, Michael tells him to leave Olson out of it, Scott nods and walks away into the building.
The President is meeting with Stansfield, Garrett, Nance, McMahon, Jack Worsch and Roach again at Camp David. Garrett demands updates from Roach. Roach tells him they have an update and asks McMahon to play the message left for him. The message is played, afterwards, a pale Garrett says, “Me? They want to kill me?” but the President ignores him and asks Worsch if they really could have killed him. Worsch tells him yes. The President asks how they can protect him? Worsch tells him that he must be less accessible to the media and public. The President tells Worsch to do whatever he thinks is right. McMahon chimes in that they are now convinced these men are military commandos but cannot get any files from the Pentagon on Special Forces soldiers. The President questions Nance on why this is and demands Nance get McMahon the files he needs. The men were then briefed on the evidence found near the bridge. The meeting ended and everyone left except Garrett and Nance. Nance asked Garrett if he was ok, Garrett told him that he was not but for other reasons than just the tape. He told Nance that Worsch had found out about their scheme to have Arthur Higgins black-mail Congressman Moore. Nance told them that Arthur will not be happy about that and that to clear his schedule for tomorrow afternoon because they need to meet with Higgins.
The next day, Garrett and Nance are in a SUV pulling up to Higgins’s estate. An man with an uzi greets them at the front gate and lets them go through. Nance and Garrett enter the house and meet Higgins(Hopkins) in his office. Nance tells Higgins that Worsch had found out about him and asks what should be done about him. Higgins tells him nothing right now because Worsch won’t go to the media about it because of the damage it would do the President. He then tells Nance and Garrett that he has a proposition for them.
Sheamus and Michael O’Rourke are sitting at a booth in a restaurant when Senator Erik Olson(Robbins) walks in. Olson sits down with them and remarks that he’s delighted to see that Sheamus is in town. Michael asks Olson what happened at Camp David and if what the President was saying about cutting money off the budget is true. Olson tells them that they cannot let a word of this pass to anyone else and that he’s only telling them because they’re such good friends. He tells them that the President and Garrett are lying, they’re using accounting loopholes to make it seem like they’re spending less when they’re spending more. He says he wanted no part of it. Sheamus comments that they deserve to die because of how corrupt they’ve made the system and how dishonest politicians have become. This upsets Olson who doesn’t believe violence is the answer. Olson tells them that he’ll give the President a week to make real changes or else he’ll expose them and Olson leaves. Michael and Sheamus leave soon after and are halfway down the street when they see Olson’s limo pull out and head the opposite direction. All of a sudden, a motorcycle pulls up next to the limo, tosses a bag on the roof of it and veers off. The bag explodes as soon as the motorcyclist veers off. The limousine is destroyed and Senator Olson as well as the Secret Service agents protecting him are killed.
Scott Coleman pulled up to an isolated cabin in his BMW. He got out of the car and opened the door. Inside, Michael O’Rourke was waiting for him. O’Rourke told him he was there when Olson’s limo blew up and asked him for one good reason why he shouldn’t call the FBI. Coleman tells Michael that he didn’t kill Olson and had nothing to do with it. Michael doesn’t believe him when all of a sudden the door opens again. The two men turn and see Sheamus O’Rourke in the doorway. Sheamus tells Michael that Scott and his guys had nothing to do with the death of Olson. Michael questions how he’d know. He tells Michael that he helped Coleman and his guys plan the first 3 assassinations. Michael questions why Sheamus would be involved in this. Coleman interjects then asks who has joined the fight and killed Olson? Sheamus tells them that he has a connection in the CIA that can give them information on who it might be. They decide to let the FBI know that the same people responsible for the prior assassinations did not kill Olson then lay low.
Skip McMahon receives a phone call from the group responsible; they tell him that they did not kill Olson. He questions them on it; they tell him that they would not have done it in a way that caused so much collateral damage. He questions why they are telling him it; they tell him because they want the real culprits caught to keep more innocent people from dying. They then hang up the phone.
Scott Coleman and Michael O’Rourke are on a boat headed for shore and the back of an estate with two of Coleman’s former fellow Seal members, Dan Stroble(Valley) and Kevin Hackett(Donovan). O’Rourke explains as Coleman maneuvers the boat that his grandfather’s intelligence pal had clued them in that former CIA agent and Black Ops head Arthur Higgins was behind the assassination of Erik Olson. The four of them split up into the yards of the neighbors of Higgins to surveil Higgins’s house and his guards. While conducting surveillance, O’Rourke spots Mike Nance with Higgins.
Irene Kennedy is going over the files that Mike Nance gave her and Skip McMahon on Special Agents soldiers when she opens Scott Coleman’s file. She sees his final operation and reason for discharge which peaks her curiosity. She asks the General why he was the only Seal granted early discharge. The General tells her about the Operation where Coleman lost part of his unit and how he demanded to be discharged when they refused to tell him who compromised his mission.
Coleman, Stroble, Hackett and O’Rourke are gathered near Higgins’s estate planning how they will snatch him when he steps outside to smoke a cigar. Stroble and Hackett took out the guards and the cameras from their sniper perches. Coleman and O’Rourke grabbed Higgins.
Back at O’Rourke’s house, they drag Higgins into the house while masked to interrogate him. Coleman injects Higgins with sodium pentathol and they begin to interrogate him.
After interrogating Higgins, Coleman injects Higgins with air bubbles to kill him as O’Rourke takes the tape of his confession to copy it. They then leave the house and drive away to dump Higgins’s body.
O’Rourke is sitting outside the Hoover Building in his truck; he takes his phone out and calls Skip McMahon’s line. McMahon answers and asks who it is…O’Rourke tells him who he is. He also tells him that he must give him something. McMahon tells him he’s busy and asks if he can get it later. O’Rourke tells him that it’s urgent and is evidence that will give him the killer of Erik Olson. McMahon tells him he’ll be right down. O’Rourke circles the block and stops when McMahon exits the building with Irene Kennedy. O’Rourke tells them to get in and drives off, as he’s driving, he asks Dr. Kennedy who she is and what she does, she explains. He hands McMahon the Arthur Higgins tape telling him it was left on his doorstep and they all listen to it.
Stansfield, the President, Stu Garrett and Mike Nance are all in a meeting. Stansfield threatens that he must know why Higgins’s body was left on the lawn of Stu Garrett and the relationship between the two or he’ll go to the FBI. Garrett is reluctant to talk so Nance explains that they were using Higgins for some free-lance work. When Stansfield presses further, Garrett and Nance explain that they used Higgins to convince some reluctant members of congress to vote for the President’s budget. The President is irate and scolds them for these illicit actions.
O’Rourke, McMahon and Kennedy are in a conference room in the CIA as Stansfield and Roach walk in. When they sit down, they play the tape of Higgins’s confession. Higgins says his name, says he used to work for the CIA, he warns them that they might come upon knowledge they don’t want to know, they continue and he reveals that Stansfield and Olson forced him out, he explains that he was behind the death of Olson because he hated him and that Mike Nance and Stu Garrett were involved because they needed to silence him from tipping off the public about the bogus budget changes. He then reveals that Garrett had promised that they would remove Stansfield and put Higgins in power in return for what Higgins did. McMahon then reads the demands of the people responsible for Higgins’s death, it demands that Mike Nance resign from his office for his part and then in 30 days Garret will resign or else they will kill Garrett and Nance. They say they will allow Stevens to stay in office if he puts together a balanced budget and meets their previous demands on a National Crime Bill. They also demand that in return for them not releasing the tape, the FBI does not bring charges against them for the previous 3 assassinations. Stansfield and Roach discuss the offer and decide to take the deal.
Stansfield and O’Rourke confront Nance and Garrett in front of the President with the tape. Nance and Garrett deny it and accuse Stansfield of lying. O’Rourke threatens to take the tape to the media, Nance threatens to stop him by whatever means necessary and tells him to leave. O’Rourke tells him to shut up or he’ll knock him out. He threatens Garrett with trial and with the assassins’ claims that they will kill him if he tries to weasel out of it. Nance picks up the phone to call Secret Service to get O’Rourke removed, O’Rourke stands up and punches him in the face before he can complete the call. O’Rourke then grabs Garrett, pushes him up against the wall and threatens to beat him to death if he doesn’t tell the truth. Garrett claims it wasn’t his fault, it was Nance and Higgins and begs the President’s forgiveness.
Michael and Liz are in the house in their room; Michael had just finished telling her the truth about everything and she promised she’d never say a word of it to anyone. They start to kiss and flirt. Liz tells Michael to go take a shower, she’ll go get dinner and come back. Then they can eat and go to bed. Liz leaves and Michael steps into the shower. O’Rourke steps out of the shower and puts on his clothing. He hears the doorbell ring so he walks downstairs and says, “Liz, I can’t believe you forgot your keys again” and opens the door. At the door is a fit middle aged man wearing a trench-coat and a fedora, the man says, “Congressman O’Rourke?” and O’Rourke replies with “Yes”. The man then reaches out as if to shake his man but surprises O’Rourke with a taser, O’Rourke drops to the ground. The man grabs O’Rourke, carries him to the drunk of his car and places him in the trunk. He closes the trunk door, gets in the car and drives off.
The car is now at a security gate of a ranch, the gate opens and a car pulls to the house. The man steps out, opens the trunk and helps a gagged and bound O’Rourke out of the trunk. He walks him to the door. Mike Nance with a black eye and a bandage on his nose opens the door; he nods for O’Rourke and the anonymous kidnapper to follow him. They do. They follow him into a lounge where Stu Garrett is sitting with a drink in his hand. Nance tells Jared, the kidnapper, to take the tape off of O’Rourke’s mouth and Jared does. Nance tells O’Rourke that they have unfinished business from the morning, O’Rourke tells him that he finished that business when he broke Nance’s nose, Nance says that he guesses he owes him for that one and tells Jared to break O’Rourke’s nose. Jared punches O’Rourke in the nose. Nance tells O’Rourke that he doesn’t like resorting to violence and he’d prefer if they acted civilized but he believes in an eye for an eye. O’Rourke tells him to shove it. Nance motions to Jared to hit him again…Jared hits him in the stomach causing O’Rourke to keel over and fall to the floor. Nance tells him that he’s got some questions to ask him but before he can start, the door splinters and a flash grenade rolls inside. Jared pulls his gun and aims for the door firing off shots when it opens. A man in CIA body armor fires back with a 3 round burst, hits and kills Jared. Garrett and Nance drop to the floor and the CIA agent informs Stansfield that the room was secure. Stansfield enters the room and demands that O’Rourke be cut free, he then tells the CIA commandos to leave the room. Garrett blames Nance, says he hated the idea and pleads with Stansfield. Stansfield receives a call from Scott Coleman telling him that he wants to meet with him, O’Rourke and Nance. He tells him that if he won’t meet with him that he’ll release the tape. Stansfield agrees to meet on a small island in a nearby harbor. Stansfield tells Liz Scarlatti called him and demanded he bring Michael back to her. He then tells Michael that they need to go meet Scott Coleman.
Coleman is waiting next to his boat on the island when a helicopter flies up and the door opens with Stansfield, Nance and O’Rourke getting out. Coleman introduces himself and tells him that he and his team had pulled off the assassinations without O’Rourke knowing. He then tells Stansfield that he brought in O’Rourke after the Higgins interrogation. He tells Stansfield that he didn’t believe Nance would try something so desperate and apologizes to Michael. Coleman then scolds Nance for not walking away. Nance tells him that America’s National security is his responsibility and that’s something he’s always taken seriously. That when someone black-mails the President that they are threatening the national security of the nation and that he had to do something. Coleman questions him about the murder of Olson, Nance claims it was to slow him and the other assassins down although in hindsight it was a bad idea. Coleman tells him he’s full of shiot and tells him he killed Olson for his own selfish interests not for America. Nance and Coleman bicker back and forth further. Coleman ends by saying that he saw his men get killed because Fitzgerald couldn’t keep his mouth shut. Coleman demands one good reason why he shouldn’t kill him. Nance then says he’s beat and will agree to their demands. Coleman says he doesn’t trust him and that Nance will try to kill him if given the chance. Nance tells him that America needs people like him and that he gives him his word that he will walk away. Coleman pulls out his gun but Nance threatens Stansfield that he’ll have a hard time explaining this one. Stansfield tells Coleman that it would make his job easier if he could kill him in the same way they killed Fitzgerald, hearing this, Nance tries to run. However, O’Rourke grabs him by his shirt keeping him from getting away. Nance begs for his life and threatens Stansfield at the same time but Coleman grabs him and breaks his neck, killing him. Coleman tosses his body into the water then O’Rourke and Coleman jump into the boat while Stansfield gets back into the helicopter and is flown away. Coleman and O’Rourke sail off into the night. |

Clubhouse
Written and Directed by Paul Thomas Anderson
Music by Johnny Greenwood
Cinematography by Robert Elswic
Synopsis: In order to stay in the game, two thirty-something year old baseball players (Ryan Gosling and Michael Fassbender) begin using and selling a new type of performance-enhancing drug. Their small operation, ran through the clubhouse manager (William H. Macy), begins to unravel when they are selling to much of the league. The film follows their struggles with their psychopathic dealer (Benicio Del Toro), suspicious manager (Tommy Lee Jones), and disapproving friend/fellow player (Oscar Isaac). Like he did with the adult film industry in Boogie Nights, Paul Thomas Anderson explores a side of professional baseball that hasn't been seen before.
Character List
Ryan Gosling as David Filmore. David is an above-average major leaguer who is struggling to stay in the league due to injuries. He is one of the two main characters (Fassbender is the other) who begins dealing to players all around the league. Initially, he sees it as a way to make money before his career runs out, but David begins using as well in order to come back faster from a shoulder injury.
Michael Fassbender as Roy Lockhart. Fresh off a short-term extension (2 years/14 million), Roy also sees the PED's as a way to get one last monster contract before he starts to decline. He sees a massive boost in production and is an MVP candidate. But Roy mis-uses and gets he and David (Gosling) in trouble with their supplier, Ugueth Pena (Benicio Del Toro).
Benicio Del Toro as Ugueth Pena. A former player, Ugueth is a ruthless psycho. He supplies David and Roy and reaps the profits, but when Roy ends up owing Ugueth a lot of money, the relationship sours. Ugueth and his #2 (Barry Pepper) make life a living hell for the two players.
Tommy Lee Jones as Manager John Mackey. John is a hard-nosed, old-school manager. He is suspicious of David and Roy throughout the film and gets intertwined in their dangerous feud with Ugueth.
William H. Macy as Clubhouse Assistant Kenny Rothman. Kenny is dim-witted and always trying to get closer to the players. David and Roy use him to distribute the PED's to other players and teams.
Oscar Isaac as Juan Tejada. Juan is good friends with Roy and David, but wants nothing to do with their dealings. He sees his career slipping away while they cheat to the top. Oscar eventually pays the ultimate price for the things they've done.
Barry Pepper as Rogers. Rogers is the #2 to Ugueth Pena (Del Toro). He appears reserved, but snaps and loses it whenever Ugueth needs him to. Rogers' body count is high.
Michelle Monaghan as Erica Filmore. David's loving wife. She becomes entrenched in their dispute with Ugueth. While she is kept in the dark initially, Erica's hands end up dirty as well.

Story:
Begin credits of the main characters in order,
A high school semifinal game in progress,
Duvall is shaking hands with a state trooper and engaged in conversation,
He's a former 30 year head coach of a high school football team who won 3 state championship games,
Three of his former QB have won the Heisman and several of his former team players have played in the pros,
He is now in his first year as the USC QB coach, they just had a 12-2 season, #5 ranking and will be playing in the Rose Bowl,
Chad's team doesn't win the game, however he throws 5 TD passes,
His poise and strong arm gets the attention of Duvall,
Duvall then approaches Chad, shakes his hand and says that he had played a heck of a game,
He says thank you to Duvall,
Chad goes home and his father is drunk,
His father is a Vietnam veteran who had dreams of playing pro football until he was drafted,
Chad is the only child and was born after his father had returned home from the war,
His mother has been in a psychiatric hospital since Chad was 7 after years of physical and verbal abuse from his father,
Chad later gets a recruitment letter from USC,
He accepts and he's happy to get well away from his father and Oklahoma,
Arriving at the USC campus not very touted, he did not make the field until his junior year,
Duvall is the continual mentor to Chad and he starts all 15 games his senior year at USC,
He then leads USC to a National Championship and undefeated season,
Duvall does retire after reaching this success and wishes Chad well in the pros, he is now 60 years of age,
Chad is 3rd in the voting for the Heisman,
He's the 7th pick in the draft and the 2nd quarterback selected,
Once again the pattern repeated and Chad didn't make the field until his 4th season,
He thought it must be somebody who has confidence in his abilities,
Chad quarterbacks his team into 8-8 in his 4th season after being named the starter when they had been 3-7,
This was rewarded with a brand new contract and gained the starting gig the next season after training camp,
In the mean time FBI agent Chenowith was looking into a series of unsolved murders in the Midwest,
FBI criminal profiler Malkovich had reached a conclusion that a specific murder didn't fit the series,
That victim was a young assistant to a known fashion designer in New York and the others were not professional women,
Each of the victims were murdered by strangulations and the bodies were dumped with no real apparent attempt to cover it,
The proximity of the area to a main highway and hunting grounds would certainly mean that he would cover if the killer didn't want the body to be found,
This meant he was either in a rush, wanted these bodies found, was psychologically unstable or didn't know the area,
Malkovich thought 2 or more of these being true and we've got the same killer,
Three or more and we've got a different murderer,
Meanwhile in the next two seasons Chad throws for above average numbers and gets his team into the playoffs then gets suspended after his DUI before his 7th season,
Agent Chenowith notes the murders in the Midwest have stopped,
She also discovers that a murder in Oklanoma thought as being connected with the others, shares the same characteristics of the murder of the fashion designer's assistant,
FBI Director Sheen decides to assign FBI agent Neeson to investigate the murder of the fashion designer's assistant and goes to New York,
Chenowith investigates the Oklahoma murder,
Neeson is a fearless FBI agent with a tenacity which gets results,
Chad's 7th season began on the bench,
He followed that up with his team going 10-6 during their season to make the playoffs,
However a second DUI after the season has Chad on list of players they make available for the expansion draft,
The LA expansion NFL team selects Chad in their expansion draft and selects the new Heisman winning QB Hemsworth in the 1st round of the NFL draft,
Chad accepts a contract with the LA expansion team,
Agent Neeson discovers the fashion designer's assistant who was murdered had went missing when visit relatives,
Her body being found in proximity with a major highway and not with any cover meant the killer could have been travelling also,
Chenowith discovers the victim in Oklahoma had ties with a small town and had also once dated Chad Gooding,
She investigates the Chad Gooding angle further and discovers most of Chad's younger life,
His father is not alive anymore, however the mother is alive and Agent Chenowith attempts to speak with her only to find she's in a psychiatric hospital,
That same psychiatric hospital happens to be located a mile from where the body of the fashion designer's assistant was discovered,
Agent Chenowith meets with Agent Neeson to discuss their info,
Their info is given to criminal profiler Malkovich and he concludes that a certain profile would be their guy,
FBI Director Sheen is open to every angle and yet incredulous,
However he trusts his agents and dispatches both to keep continuing every angle of the murder investigations,
Chad Gooding is the starter for the LA expansion team in their first year and he's on a roll,
7-0 record and 23 TD along with only 3 INT already,
His confidence and charming personality along with his good looks has made Chad LA's newest celebrity,
People and the other magazines have linked Chad with almost every celebrity in town,
Chad gets often asked the questions like why you're still not married,
A series of kidnappings in the LA area during the previous 5 months has piqued the interest of the LAPD and Chief Nicholson,
He says it's not unusual to have kidnappings in LA like in every large city, however to have this many unsolved during his tenure as the chief is quite unusual,
Chief Nicholson assigns detective Hawke and detective Wahlberg to investigate,
The only info in some of the kidnappings was a description of the kidnapper,
Chad has the LA team rolling into the playoffs at 12-0 and winning much unlike any expansion team in their first season,
His celebrity status increases and Joy Behar says that he's not a married man during the opening segments of a show,
A news report of the unsolved kidnappings is shown on the locker room tv after the LA team gets to 14-2 and clinching the #1 seed in the playoffs,
The next scene shows a young woman chained and shiverring in a shallow pit,
Camera pans to a second young woman also chained in another small pit right next to her,
The basement of a house is shown and the camera broadens to reveal Chad standing above the pit inside the basement,
A scene shows how Chad kidnapped Kirsten and had brought her to his basement,
The second scene shows how Chad had also kidnapped Hayden in almost the same manner,
He wrapped up his arm and pretended that he couldn't lift a very light, yet somewhat awkward package into his vehicle,
Once the victim would put the package of Chad's into the vehicle, he hits the woman in the back of her head and shoves her inside his car trunk,
Always just within 15 minutes driving distance on the highway,
Director Sheen asks Neeson and Chenowith to examine the evidence and notifies the FBI's LA office to put Chad under surveillance,
It's very much implied that Chad has been violent towards each of the women and shown in the same manner in keeping with any R rated films,
Scenes of his father being violent with Chad when he was a child are also shown each time he enters the basement to be violent towards each of the women,
Before the agents can keep a watch on Chad, he uses Kirsten to kidnap Emma from a shopping area in LA,
Chad now will allow Kirsten to kind of have more freedom in the locked basement,
He trusts her and wanted to have somebody to watch the others when he's playing in the playoffs,
The FBI surveillance reveals not a thing and just his normal activities of going to practice,
LAPD Chief Nicholson gets wind of the FBI activity,
He then sends Hawke and Wahlberg to investigate Chad's activity and implies to news people to say they have a lead,
Sheen hears the comments of Nicholson and asks Malkovich for his opinion,
Malkovich says that it's possible the LA kidnappings and the 2 murders are linked,
He thinks it's possible that Chad might have a woman held captive and that's why their surveillance has not yielded anything,
Sheen says that it's unlikely,
Malkovich then says that nobody knew what Vick was doing at his residence either,
LA's team will be playing in the Super Bowl,
Chad is fully confident that Kirsten will take care of his other girls for awhile and she assisted in capturing Emma,
She now very much thinks of Chad as her boyfriend,
He arrives in Miami with the LA football team for the Super Bowl, Kirsten is in charge of the 2 girls and they have conversation with each other,
The sunday just before the game is nonstop Chad features on ESPN,
There's always been a huge tv in the locked basement to watch Chad when he's away,
Kirsten says for Emma to just relax and that sunday is the day of rest around here,
Hayden questions to Kirsten as to why Chad would kidnap Emma and also suggests that he's going to kill Kirsten when he returns,
She then convinces Kirsten to free herself from the basement and she goes to LAPD,
They don't really think she's being honest and she keeps saying my boyfriend this or that,
Kirsten repeats her story twice and they go to Chad's residence and free the 2 chained women,
The FBI office in Miami is notified just as the Super Bowl is starting,
Agent Neeson and Chenowith are already in Miami at the orders of FBI Director Sheen.
Chenowith has been posing as a reporter and Neeson is with his new wife as VIP who also get field access,
Both Neeson and Chenowith get the alright for the capture of Chad based on this new info,
The Miami police department will be assisting,
Agent Neeson's wife has been saying she's having some dreams and questions if her husband is really in Miami for the Super Bowl,
The Super Bowl begins and Chad throws a touchdown pass to make the score tied at halftime,
LA doesn't win the game and the larger story is Chad disappearing,
He didn't play and wasn't on the bench after halftime,
Montage of clips in succession:
TMZ-reports that Chad Gooding was arrested for murder at halftime of the Super Bowl,
Jim Rome-the story on every sports fan's mind,
Elisabeth Hasselbeck-I know about NFL quarterbacks,
Mark Schlereth-you really think you know Chad Gooding that well,
Stephen A Smith-the DUI's and suspensions,
Skip Bayless-Chad Gooding did not murder those women and I will bet my life on it,
Nancy Grace-FBI arrest in the case of the kidnapped California women,
LAPD Chief Nicholson parades the 3 missing women in front of tv cameras and demands that Chad be tried in LA, he also credits the LAPD for the arrest info,
FBI Director Sheen compromises some and the case is held in LA federal court,
He's charged with 2 counts of murder, 3 counts of kidnapping and other various,
Chad has the very well known Baldwin as his attorney who would speak on several tv shows,
Baldwin says that Kirsten was a girlfriend of Chad's and was playing sex games with these women,
Harvey Levin-trial of the century,
Levin's assistant-MJ,
Harvey Levin-ha yeah right,
Another Levin assistant-OJ,
Harvey Levin-bigger than OJ,
US Attorney Sarandon is speaking with reporter and gives a quick no comment and joins US Attorney Thompson in front of the courthouse,
US Attorney Thompson says we're confident that we've got the right person and will get a conviction,
They both enter the courthouse,
Chad Gooding and his attorney stop in front of the courthouse for the reporters,
He faces the reporters and they watch Chad as he looks at a beautiful woman walking past,
He says that you guys always ask why I've never been married,
Chad and his attorney walk up the courtroom stairs,
The film screen says in text of Chad Gooding being convicted of 2 counts of murder and 3 counts of kidnapping,
It names the federal institution and says he was sentenced to more than 400 years,
The full film credits roll as well. |

Those are all of the submitted films for now. I'm assured that there are at least a few more yet to come. _________________

jrry32, I just finished reading one of Vince Flynn's books. I've only read one, Transfer of Power, and I was planning on doing an adaptation for the next draft. It's bizarre, I had James Cromwell in mind as Thomas Stansfield throughout the whole book. Is your movie based on one of Flynn's books, or just in the same universe? _________________

Yes, it is. I love Vince Flynn and the Mitch Rapp series. However, I adapted Flynn's first book, the one that preceded Transfer of Power. Mitch Rapp is barely mentioned in this book. But many other characters that are used in the series are.
And yea, Cromwell was exactly who I thought of when I had a mental picture of Thomas Stansfield. _________________

Late Entry;
| The Gnat wrote: | Powers: Who Killed Retro Girl
Powers, a comic series created by Brian Michael Bendis, follows to detectives whose job is dealing with crimes by and against people with powers. Christian Walker, a long time detective, gets paired up with his new partner Deena Pilgrim when the murder of one of the most beloved heroes, Retro Girl happens. They work on the case while trying to avoid the crazies who are out there trying to stop them and avoiding the good but a bit of bleep Detective Kutter who keeps on trying to barge in on their case.
Director Sam Raimi
Raimi was pegged to direct this film with his previous work in the super hero realm with Spiderman and his ability to create entertaining stories that can be dark and humorous.
Cast
Carl Urban - Christian Walker
Walker is a big detective with secrets in his past. He has a special connection to the super hero community which drives him.
Rooney Mara - Deena Pilgrim
Pilgrim is the new girl on the block, she's had experience in the force before, but hasn't worked in the super hero area. She has to learn from Walker what she can even though he is a bit hidden in a shell as she tries to find out what makes him go.
Mickey Rourke - Triphammer
An Iron Man like character who has issues while dealing with the death or Retro Girl.
James McAvoy - Detective Kutter
Kutter likes to believe that he is the best and often jumps the gun on things in the criminal world, he is very good, but isn't as methodical and driven as Walker is, except for his drive to be better than Walker which makes him slightly rash and abrasive.
Kiera Knightley - Retro Girl
Retro Girl is the cream of the crop when it comes to super heroes. She is the most beloved and is tragically cut down in her prime.
Willow Shields and Laura Linney - Daughter and Mother, Walker and Deena have to look after the daughter when her mother is killed by a deranged villain who will only deal with Walker.
Jason Schwartzman - The Villain
The Villain, who I am blanking on his name, isn't who you expect him to be and has motivations that lead him to his crime of killing retro girl.
Tim Roth - Captain Cross
Cross is the head of the police department who has to be a strong character dealing with all the wackos and trying to keep lawsuits off the departments back.
Waiting to be cast:
New Reporter 1
Field Reporter 1
The news reporters show a different aspect of the story with how people are reacting to what is going on.
Villain 2
This is the villain that kills the mother and only will deal with Walker, a minor role for the beginning of the film. |

I've said it in the comic books thread and I'll say it again here- Powers is The Wire of comic books. It's the greatest series I've ever read and the arc that your film is based on is just the beginning of greatness. FX is developing this as a series and the pilot is being reworked at the moment. Not a fan of some of their castings esp Lucy Punch as Pilgrim. Ugh. Jason Patric is a good actor but doesn't have the size to pull off the imposing Walker. Back to your film tho...
Thoughts on your casting:
Sam Raimi as director? Not feeling that at all after his run on Spider-Man. David Fincher would kill on this bringing that Zodiac flavor with him.
Not a fan of Karl Urban as an actor but he is a more physical presence than Patric. I'm not sure who I would even cast for this part. Tough one.
Love LOVE LOVE Rooney Mara as Pilgrim. Great call!
Rourke as Triphammer is an inspired choice and would bring some gravitas to the role. Based on looks, I would prolly have gone with Ted Levine.
Love Keira Knightley as Retro Girl. Curious to see her with blonde hair.
Not sure about McAvoy as Kutter but the guy is an awesome actor. I bet he could pull it off.
Glad to see another fan of Powers on here. Kudos on the choice! _________________

Gentlemen, I feel like such an [inappropriate/removed] for not being able to submit for this draft. This is two drafts in a row that Ive pussed out, but I had family issues this past week, and I couldnt get it in. Im really sorry for this, and because of me being a big turd, I will be sitting out the next two drafts as punishment.
If anyone was wondering, here was my film idea:
Satan's Alley
Two monks take Gods love to the extremes, when they find love with each other in twelveth century England monastary.
Robert Downy Jr-Plays a monk that is the best chance to become the first english Pope.
Tobey McGuire-A young monk that comes to the monestary, and shakes up everything when he falls in love with Downy's character.
Peter Dinklage-Takes sides with the lovers because he is an abomination of God because he is a littler person, and gays are the same, so they have to stick together.
Brendan Gleeson-Head of the monastary.
Peter O'Toole-Pope
Cant remember others _________________
