Hey guys,

I am thinking about setting up a fantasy league with members of this board.

As far as my experience goes, I have played fantasy football with members of a small German fooball forum since 2007, annual standard leagues on NFL.com and a keeper league on ESPN.com.

However, over the last two years - especially last season - I have grown tired of a) the lack of effort of some of the members and b) their to some degree limited knowledge of the NFL, whether it's players, prospects or team philosophies. Granted, most of the members are much older than me (40s-60s) and do not have the time to follow relevant news outlets every two days as, say, I as a student have. But the situation as gone beyond time limitations to an actual lack of trying harder and be up-to-date at least at the beginning of every season (example from a few years back: drafting Marshall Faulk in the 2nd even though he was already retired; drafting Manning in the first last season although having neck issues etc.). Pair that with the fact of subtle homerism and one can see why annual drafts have been increasingly contorted.

So with that being said, would some of you care to join a "FF Broncos Forum Fantasy League"? Is there already something existent such as this and hence inhibits you form possibly joining the one I would set up? I am still fairly new on this board, so... Also, league type would be open for discussion.

We usually have a couple leagues going in the fall. Just hang out about another 3 months and one will pop up in the threads.

We do a few leagues every year. AAA usually starts one up - usually we get around 2-3 leagues going with forum members.

Typically this thread gets started (announcing league sign-ups) a couple weeks before the season starts, and then drafts get going during pre-season (close to the start of the year). Drafting closer to the end of pre-season is ideal as you have knowledge of training camp injuries and competitions won/lost for starting jobs, and can draft accordingly.

Because the league signups start closer to the start of the season we'll lock this thread until then, but then use it as a home base for league signups and all things fantasy!

Just to build on what elliot878 said, yes I will probably run a fantasy league for us here, maybe two leagues if there's enough interest.

My only concern will be that anyone who signs up make a commitment for the full season; I know everyone has busy lives but each year we always have a member or two who are gung-ho to sign up but then miss the draft and/or, upon finding themselves in last place come week 6, put their team on cruise control for the remainder of the year. It would be a good idea to discuss some ideas as to how to we can rectify this problem.

Until at least training camp starts in late July we can talk about ideas for fantasy leagues in the Random Thoughts thread. It would be good to bounce ideas for scoring, league size, player positions, etc off of each other in there.

Once we get into the preseason we can start sign-up threads here in the forum.

Guys who are looking to set leagues up use this thread to organize and schedule drafts and all that. Good luck to all in their Fantasy Football endeavors this year.

I'm willing to do a fantasy league for anyone looking to start one up.

Well, like I said, I have experience with annual NFL.com standard leagues and one ongoing ESPN keeper league. Both usually contain 12 players. Once was part of a league with 18 members on fleaflicker.com and didn't like it much.

I'd like to be a part of a league which does have some competent players. If we could set something up that meets at least this requirement, the specific format or scoring system wouldn't matter. Yet as I can only draw from my specific experience above, one would first have to convince me of other ways of playing fantasy football. I am open for anything, though.

I always play in 2 or 3 leagues every year, so I am in for whomever starts one.

I'll play but can we please discuss it on this forum?

I think that's what's killed activity the last few years.

A keeper league would be nice too

I'd be in as well. But I have never actually set up a league so perhaps a member who has experience with this provides some input. What needs to be discussed?
