According to the Ravens they are "happy he was trying to stay in shape."

I hate lying though, it's for sissy's IMO.

That could be a truthful statement. They might not like the fact he got injured doing it.

Or if he lied about how he got hurt.

Staying in shape playing basketball is one thing. Lying about the fact you were playing basketball is totally different. Not saying he lied, that's just a rumor at this point.

Either way, it won't affect anything other than the coaches might be a little PO'ed at him for lying.

Now that's different. I think I misunderstood the original OP.

I didn't realize he was referring to Suggs as the "sissy" I'll take Suggs over anyone on the Jets front 7, any day of the week. Sissy and Suggs do not belong in the same sentence. If he lied, he obviously did it to get the paycheck, being a sissy is irrelevant.

Lol Don't twist my words. Simply said lying is for sissys. Wasn't talking about his playing ability but it does say a lot about his character. And it's not a rumor anymore it was all over ESPN today that it was infact basketball.

And this is why people are so ridiculous these days. Lying to keep that paycheck coming, and you're pretty much backing him.

More people should trying being a man for the first time in their lives and tell the truth. I doubt the Ravens would be upset if he went to the front office and said hey, this is the deal.

That is what I ment by sissy. Too small to tell the truth.

Now back on topic.

I agree with you, BenchSanchez.

To me it's not a big deal for athletes to be playing other sports to stay in shape. He could have easily torn his achilles running. To lie about it suggests that he thinks he did something wrong. He did not. Don't lie about it.

(Unless of course his contract says "don't touch a basketball")

Did anyone believe his workout story after it was reported it was from playing basketball?

obvious damage control.

No problem with these guys playing sports like basketball..... these guys can't live in a bubble.

Neither do I as long as the contract allows for it. But these guys have been given multiple million dollars as a SB, the team has all the right in the world to ask that the contract limit activities. Guys get hurt a lot more in playing basketball than working out in a gym with a trainer over his shoulder. This is a 265 lb man jumping up and down on a hard surface while be bounced around.

IDK, I'd bet the patriots were taping though, you could check the footage.

I see what you did there Laughing

I personally don't have ANY issues with how he got injured (Playing a sport), but the only time it'd be an issue is if it is outlined in the contract to avoid things like that.

Playing basketball to stay in shape isn't a big deal. Doing wheelies on a motorcycle in the parking lot soldier style is.

No problem however these players also have to accept the consequences even if it means no paycheck if they do decide to play bb etc.

While I personally do believe he injured it playing basketball and was trying to save face, to be fair, the reports were that people saw him get injured playing basketball but could not confirm that the injury was in fact the one in which he hurt his achilles.

Like I said, personally, I think it was indeed basketball and Suggs' initial comment was indeed to try and not potentially have millions taken away. However, at least for the Ravens (can't speak for other teams), they are happy if players are playing basketball to stay in shape. Hell, they have their own basketball courts for players right in the team training facility.

Agreed... if it states that in their contract.
