In fact, in 2011 no NFL team had fewer games started by its own draft picks than the Redskins. Of a total of 352 starts (22 starters times 16 games), draft picks made 121 of them.

In contrast, 266 of the Panthers’ starts were by their own draftees as were 264 of the Steelers’ and 257 of the 49ers’.

Should be able to improve on that number greatly this year. The RBs, qb, Josh, Jenks, & even Hank might have a couple. Few others could be in the mix a game here and there. Trend and Fred denied the total by 8 by themselves.

This is the aftermath of the Cerrato years. Gone are the days where we sign high priced free agents to start for us then when they go down with injuries we have no depth to back them up. I really like how they are handling the roster now with a real effort to improve all 53 players.

I think times they are a changing as MKnight was saying. I had read articles like this in the past, it sure was sad last decade to see us trade away so many picks and have so many picks that didn't work out for us.

The teams that keep their picks and build through the draft seem to usually build the best team and have the best records year in, year out.

The past few drafts, we have been focusing more on the draft. I'm encouraged that things are changing and going in the right direction.
