Quote:
Police said Diehl, 31, drove a BMW into four parked cars in Astoria after watching a soccer game at a bar Sunday evening.
Diehl stayed at the scene of the accident and there were no injuries. Police took Diehl to the precinct where he was charged after a Breathalyzer test allegedly showed he was above the legal limit.

Disappointing...

I'll give him credit for not trying to flee the scene, but it's disappointing. Glad no one got hurt...

soccer hooligan...seriously though lucky nobody was hit. What an idiot. You would think some of these guys would learn not to do this after seeing other guys get busted. Waiting for the next Stallworth incident to happen...Stupid stupid stupid.

I don't think a drunk driver deserves any credit for not being more stupid than they already are.

Also smashing your car into parked cars is pretty embarrassing.

People are stupid. Just call a damn taxi.

I don't know if "give him credit" is the right phrase for this. You don't really deserve any credit for not breaking more laws.

I don't remember having ever head anything else about Diehl, is this his first offense? If so, it shouldn't really affect the Giants.

First offense. He was of the more high-character guys on the Giants, at least before this incident.

Total moron. Bad enough he can't block worth a damn, now he's running around getting popped for a DUI.

What is "suspicion" of DUI. Isn't failing the breathalyzer pretty clear cut?

I think most people don't intend to drive drunk, then do it once and are like "that wasn't so hard." Then keep doing it until something like this happens.

Yeah, credit might be the wrong wording. Just remember other situations like when Lance Briggs ditched his car to avoid a DUI...

I think it just means they haven't proven it in court yet. Breathalyzers can be fought in court, it happens quite a bit. Cops can administer the breath test wrong, and it isn't that uncommon.

I'm not saying that's what Diehl and/or his attorney are going to do, I'm just saying that's why it's called "Suspicion of DUI."

I don't know why people aren't arrested on suspicion of drug possession, or suspicion of murder, rather than drug possession or murder, but for some reason it's called Suspicion of DUI.

Very disappointing. Just glad no one was hurt. These sorts of acts are just unforgivable. Call a friend, call a cab, do whatever it takes. He's a rather poor lineman but I always respected him because he tried hard and he seemed like a respectful guy. Guess I was wrong.
