How are we THIS beat up from not contact practices, geeze. Do we even have enough guys to form a practice? So much for that hyped "competition" in camps this year. So sick of our rookies falling behind and not being able to make a full time impact for 2-3 years. Hopefully these are all just "bumps and bruises" and not something that leads to a year long struggle for some guys to be 100%.
I know they have time until real camp, but with how bad we looked we need all the time we can get. These guys need to be in shape and have a full understanding of their role and playbook so they can just do instead of over thinking and playing slow. Especially the rookies, missing out on very valuable time.
| Quote: | The first minicamp practice wasn’t much different than the OTAs, in terms of the top draft picks. Again, the first five picks all missed action, four because of injuries.
|
Rookies aren't alone:
| Quote: |
· DE Marcus Spears returned from a neck strain that kept him out for the majority of the OTAs.
· RB Felix Jones continued to rehab his shoulder injury. It’s likely he will be ready for the first training camp practice in late July.
· LB Bruce Carter was held out at the end of Tuesday’s practice with some tightness in his hamstring.
· QB Kyle Orton sat out most of practice with a hamstring strain.
· DT Jay Ratliff hasn’t practiced much this summer, still ailing from plantar fasciitis in his foot.
· S Gerald Sensabaugh was held out last week because of a minor knee issue, but still didn’t practice on Tuesday.
· LB Dan Connor continues to miss some work with a shoulder injury.
· Second-year C/G Kevin Kowalski was in a walking boot because of a right foot injury.
· G Mackenzy Bernadeau said he still plans on returning for the start of training camp, but hasn’t participated much this summer after undergoing hip surgery.

| Trust me, this kind of stuff happens to every team every year. Only thru the miracle of multimedia devices do we have this much information this early in the season. Not one of these injuries threatens any of these players from the Sept 5th opener. Look at it this way, the staff gets to learn how to better deal with injuries for the regular season, and that is an inevitability. Just a thought. |

Most of those were pre existing and it doesn't mention Jenkins (shoulder) or Claiborne (wrist) _________________

I dont even see the point of Felix anymore unless it's special teams. He looks like he's lost a step and he's constantly injured _________________

On what basis? Seemed to me he did just fine if not better as a quality change of pace back complimenting Murray(and even filling in when Murray went down)
Injuries on the other hand, are always going to be there, he is one of the bunch that gets to be branded as "fragile". He is not our savior, he is not our solution, they obviously want to build off Murray. If he doesn't perform/play much this year, he will not be around in 2013. _________________

He won't be around in 2013 because his contract will be up. He did okay last year filling in once his job was taken by Murray but he has lost some of what made him special, which was his burst. _________________

The one injury on that list that got my attention was Ratliff's plantar fasciitis. That can be a painful, nasty, and lingering injury if not given the proper time to heal. _________________ Northland |

Indeed. Just look at how long it took Newman to recover. Heck, his case was so bad, it caused his groin to fall apart, too! _________________

There is a possibility if he plays exceptionally well as Murrays breather that he will indeed still be around with a "new contract". Personally I find it highly unlikely, but it is not unheard of. _________________

Actually he hasn't impressed me at all the last two seasons, even in the change-of-pace role. He looks shot.
Agreed on Ratliff, that's pretty serious _________________

He did just fine after Murray went down. He will never live up to his draft pick, but watch the Tampa game from last year, and the other games there at the end. If he were a fith round pick people would be talking about how awesome our back up is. But he will never be anything other than disappointing, which is why he may be seemingly unimpressive.
Secondly none of these injuries should cause anyone to sigh. They all seem minor and the holds look precautionary. Except Ratliff. This makes it seem like he could be done. .....sigh..... _________________

I had it, and I was not playing any sports, just working & on my feet alot.
It took me 6-8 months for it to fully heal with no pain. Lingering is spot on with that injury.... _________________ daboys4life |

This could be a blessing in disguise. If he is limited or has to miss any practice or games, it could give us time to take an extended look at another guy we really like at the NT position to rotate with him(Lissemore, Brent, or maybe even Hatcher). I think Ratliff needs to be a rotational guy at NT, even if he is fully healthy. |
