Quote:
ARLINGTON, Texas -- Officially the Cowboys’ offseason ended with Thursday’s final minicamp practice at Cowboys Stadium, but Tony Romo has plans to throw to his running backs, tight ends and wide receivers before training camp begins in late July.

“People are going to take a little break, but we’ll get together for sure before camp,” Romo said, “and that’s just part of being good in the NFL and getting better.”

Want a vocal leader? Look no further than Sean Lee. The inside linebacker has yelled for players to get in the huddle during 11-on-11 drills and has been routinely barking out instructions in other situations. In early May, Lee said he has no problem addressing an issue vocally if it's needed. Judging by his actions during OTAs and mini-camp, I can see that being true.

"That's the Sean Lee of old," inside linebacker and Lee's former Penn State teammate Dan Connor said. "I've seen Sean doing that since he was 18 years old. It was probably the first camp at Penn State and he was getting in fights, yelling at himself on the field, smashing his helmet like Bobby Boucher."

** On the third play of the team period, Romo was able to find WR Dez Bryant deep while being covered by CB Brandon Carr and S Brodney Pool. Carr looked to be in decent position but Pool was just off, allowing the completion. It might not have happened, however, in a real game with DeMarcus Ware bringing pressure off the edge

There is going to be a battle between Bruce Carter and Dan Connor for that inside linebacker job next to Sean Lee. There is no doubt in my mind that it is going to happen and it's not because Carter got hurt but Connor is just as capable of making plays. Carter has been better the last couple of weeks and there are some good things to build on but I believe that he is going to have to put together a bunch of great days to win this job. Connor on the other hand will need to be at his best too. I see this as a good problem if you are Rob Ryan because last season his inside linebackers other than Sean Lee were a mess. The first Eagles' game was all you needed to see with the situation at linebacker. Now he has athletes that can play off blocks and get to the ball. This will be an outstanding battle.

After practice today, it did not surprise me one bit to see Tyron Smith and offensive line coach Bill Callahan working on his technique. For such a young man, Smith gets it. He knows there is plenty work ahead of trying to master his techniques to play at left tackle. His vision, feet and punch are all different from what he did for 16 weeks last season on that right side. Smith knows that he has to get quicker to get his hands on rushers like Ware, Orakpo, Cole, Pierre-Paul and Peppers. There is no doubt the talent is there and the desire to get better is there but let's remember, there is going to be an adjustment period for both he and Doug Free because there is nothing easy about playing tackle in this league despite how Tyron Smith made it look last season.

This offseason, Bryant has said he is at just 3.1 percent body fat. He intends to play at less than 215 pounds this year, down from his listed weight of 225 pounds last season.

On Wednesday, Garrett was asked about another receiver losing weight this offseason, second-year pro Dwayne Harris, and explained why it's important for players at that position to be as light as possible.

A source said Jenkins is open to giving the Cowboys all his medical records, and Jerry Jones confirmed the franchise received them.

"We got all the information," Jones said Thursday. "It's not an issue. There's no issue here at all with him. He's going to play, we know good and well he's not going to sit here and not play this year, that’s not an issue. We got all the medical information we need to work with and help us in here and help us win."

The Cowboys would like for Jenkins to continue his rehab at Valley Ranch instead of Florida, where he lives in the offseason. But Jenkins, according to a source, will go to Florida.

The Seattle Seahawks were penalized practice days for too much hitting in the OTAs. At times, the Cowboys have toed the line with intense practices, including Thursday during a goal-line drill, when players such as Jason Hatcher, DeMarco Murray, Sean Lee and Jason Witten were all getting fired up.

Garrett had to stop practice, calling the entire team together for a short meeting before resuming play.

"Oh we're just having some fun out there," Hatcher said. "It's good that we get into it like that. That's a good thing. I love my teammates and we're all pushing each other to get better."

Nice post Matts. I am encouraged by everything, except for Jenkins. He is turning out to be a colossal delta bravo.

Not sure what Delta Bravo means, but if it is anything like I am thinking than perhaps moving him asap would be a good idea. We do not need another cancer in the locker room. And by moving him asap I mean when training camps begin and CB's start going down. His trade value will be pretty high then. Unless of course it is our CB's that go down, then he may change his tune.

Delta Bravo is a polite way of saying that Mike Jenkins is turning out to be a feminine hygeine product one might use on a Summer's Eve.

I don't see yet anything to wrong with Jenkins. In a perfect world he comes to work shuts up and does what he is asked, whilst recovering. In this world he is just being a baby, and is pouting for now. With the heart he actually showed last year, I don't personally see this as being an issue until training camp starts. Luckily for us we actually have 2 good+ corners and 1 above average in the slot if he for what ever reason decides not to put fourth full effort in his extension/trade/FA. Obviously we are better off with the 4 corners, but face it we are in a better position already then we have been in at least 10 years.

I am surprised that he is going to start off the year on PUP. I wonder when he will be able to go 100%. It makes a lot of sense now that we went out and grabbed 2 new guys.

Well, doesn't him being on the PUP just allow us to carry an extra healthy guy? I always thought we could take him off whenever, but just would have to cut someone, essentially allowing us to carry an extra camp body until he is healthy regardless. Unless I have that completely backwards and upside down.

The addition of Connor was such an underrated move, him and Lee should combine for a really good starting pair.

WTF? Not one article on Pat McQuistan's triumphant return to Dallas? Seriously? Those journalists are frauds and charlatans. They should be terminated immediately.

You know if we win the superbowl, it's gonna be bittersweet. "Sure heey we finally got a championship...now lets go on the forums and hear plan for how he was right for about 2 years now Laughing "

I heard the scuffle involved Lee, Witten, Murray and Hatcher. Love seeing the progression into a leader that Lee has made.

Liked seeing this as well

Quote:
You will hear me talk about Dez running his routes with purpose. They are much tighter and on point. He has been able to carry things he does in position drills with Jimmy Robinson to the actual team period against Brandon Carr. You see the confidence that Romo has in throwing him the ball because he is where he needs to be. It's a good sign
