I was reading through puff pieces on DB.com when this one got me to thinking about how the offense will operate.

http://www.denverbroncos.com/news-and-blogs/article-1/Broncos-Aim-for-3D-Offense/ace9dd2d-3a81-47e4-a4d9-af386fb4c7c7

I know we will see alot two tight sets and alot of three wide sets, but what I am wondering is how dedicated to the run will the Broncos be?

I think the career of our very own John Elway has alot to do with what transpires this season. Obviously we don't have TD or the offensive like Elway had in the late 90's, but I think the running game will play a large part in our successess or failures this year.

We all know Manning is a great passer and has shown that he can carry a team on his shoulders. Now Elway is trying to do what Shanahan did for him. Build a great team around an aging hall of fame QB. If the Broncos can be a top 5 rushing team and and very effecient in the passing game, they could possibly duplicate the success of Elway and the late 90's.

Here's hoping history can repeat itself!

I think Denver will run the ball more than people think. Yes we have a QB who can sling it, but Denver is still a run-oriented team. I think we will use the running game to our advantage and it will only help Peyton. Especially in altitude.

I don't think Manning is opposed to running the ball. I mean the Edge led the league in rushing awhile back.

I think it is interesting that the Broncos have a QB that can actually throw the ball...and it is assumed that they will light it up through the air. I think if the Broncos can lead the league in rushing again and Manning does what Manning does, the Broncos win the Super Bowl.

I think people who are thinking we will be a top 5 rushing team are a little hopeful. Take Tebows rushing numbers out and we were 12th in the NFL. And if we were throwing the ball more the 8 times a game we would have been way lower.

McGahee was 8th last year in rushing yards and I don't expect him to duplicate that this year. He could, but I just don't see it happening. He had 250 carries last year and this year Moreno and Hillman will take carries away from him. And I doubt he puts up another 4.8 yards per carry average. I think the threat of Tebow and the option had a little to do with his ypc being that high.

If I had to make a prediction, I'd say McGahee gets about 200 carries and averages about 4.5 YPC. That puts him around 900 yards. Moreno and Hillman (and whoever else gets carries) will probably account for another 600-700. 1,500 yards rushing is very close to what the Colts did in 2010. McGahee is probably better than anyone they had so hopefully we can do a little better.

With the stats that Manning is going to put up through the air, I think if we get 1,500-1,700 yards rushing we will be a balanced attack and be a top ten offense. Add a balanced, top ten offensive attack to our pressure defense that should be better than last year and we should be a tough game every week this season.

I'm expecting fairly balanced. Whatever we see though it will be crisp, controlled and fun to watch. No more sandlot ball.

You do know that Marshall Faulk played with Manning for a year and Edgerrin James for several years right....

Edgerrin James and Marshall Faulk didn't play with Manning in 2010.

Don't be fooled here. Manning will help the run game too. He will know when to audible into successful run plays based on formation. Also John Fox likes to run the ball early and late in games. That won't change with Manning. A strong run game is going to help Manning too. He is great in play action and can tear a defense up if the running game is going.

I would like to see McGahee with 200 carries to stay fresh. There is better depth behind him this year, so I like what is on paper. Let's hope it translates in games.
