If Joselio Hanson doesn't beat out Brandon Boykin for the nickel job, I doubt he makes the team. The Eagles would probably want to keep Brandon Hughes over him as Hughes can play outside and has seen some action inside and not been awful. That versatility should earn him the spot. He's also a better special teamer.

Boykin will make the team reguardless, but If he's not ready to cover the slot Hanson will make this team, if he is ready to start than Joselio is a goner.

Also, not carrying a FB wouldn't shock me. Later on in the season we ran out of a lot of one back sets, and if we ran from a 2 back set, it was Celek and Harbor in front of him a lot. Unless Havili really makes an impact, we could go without a FB.

This also allows us to carry 4 runners, and when the pads go on, Chris Polk will make an impact IMO, and Bryce Brown has already looked good, while Dion is a decent option and Shady is obviously making the team

Yeah, you're probably right about Hanson.

Keeping a fullback just bothers me. Give Harbor some extra time lead blocking in TC and we should be good, he's probably a better lead blocker than Havili anyway. Also, keeping a 3rd TE really frees up the coaches to use two TE sets.

Problem is JJ was a 2nd round pick and Q was a UDFA and a good ST player.

lol well yeah, i think Q is a good comparison tho, both from small schools, back when Boise St was tiny tiny, but similar size speed skill set coming out, Mikell benefitted from Dawk who really befriended him and installed a great foundation for Q to build off, Q had to lift and lift and lift, and grind it out on special teams, lift film, lift , film and i pretty much see that JJ will have to ride down that same path. He was like a deer in the head lights once he realized "i cant hit guys like i could in college, whoooaaaaa ok these guys are huge...and there faster Sad . . . ".. . . ..essentially the negatives of his scouting report are to strongly outweighing his positives, and he will have to grind it out in the weight and film room , earn his keep on special teams. Hopefully hopefully he can turn out to be a Q type player down the road.

How much does Q weight? JJ do have an inch on him, but the problem is Q was allowed to play ST and work and maybe most important he learned from Dawk, JJ don't have anyone to lean on and he have the pressure of being a 2nd round pick, where Q had the luxury of being a UDFA and being a good ST'er is good enough.

Yeah I Dawkins really helped Q develop into a pretty good player. Not great, of course, but a pretty damn good safety.

Q play about 208ish lbs, he was like JJ and had a slight built coming in at barely 190 lbs, but that goes for Dawk to who tho was a far and away better athlete, he was undersized entering the draft, teams thought he was to slight and with lil room to add muscle on his frame ha ha and now Dawkins may be the pound for pound strongest player to suit up in the NFL.. The weight room is what makes good prospects into great players and ok prospects into to good sturdy players. I mean look at Shady the world of difference 15 lbs of muscle did for his confidence and on field ability. Mikell went through this, suddenly 15 lbs heavier and he is flying around hitting people fearlessly and looking comfortable and incharge, JJ needs to get to that point, he does not have to be great just tough.

I'm going to submit a new entry shortly, as my earlier prediction seems to have changed in my mind.

lol they always do. Exhibition is so different cause dudes straight fly down field to kill, there trying to make the team to and know one special teams high light like tackle can set them apart. Its why guys like Maclin wont do itand just cant do it. The speed difference on coverage teams is insane cause every dude was the fastest baddest dude at his college. Its hard for us to put in perspective specially if you have not seen a game from field level , i can imagine its like watching this blur of muscular arm and legs spinning down field then boom like flak exploding in the air bodies go flying every direction. Its still from a physical stand point the most intense and most violent aspect of the game and its level of intensity and violent collisions goes up drastically in a real game.
