I already said where. If you don't see what you're looking for, re-read the post and you'll find it.
Being that you're calling your own literacy into question, I'll try to help. Calling Jones our three implies that he is higher on the receiving order than one Finley, Jennings, or Nelson.
Not only is this untrue, but it is misleading.
Suggesting that Finley doesn't count because he is a TE is the withholding of important facts for your argument. It makes your argument look more sound by using slective information, which, again, is a fallacy.
I could easily say that Cobb is the number two receiver on the team. And then say later I only meant among receivers under six foot. |
thanks for the laugh
if i had said the same thing last year at this time about sam shields being our 3 (refering to our cornerback)s would you have seriously gone off on this hogwash [inappropriate/removed] tangent about how nick collins is better/more important to the team then sam shields?
you were proven wrong and you looked like an idiot so now you are retaliating and getting all defensive calling me illiterate. and i am just sitting here laughing at your dumbassness |
Nick Collins never lined up at CB. Finley on the other hand flexes out at WR a little more than half of his snaps. Finley effectively plays as much WR as TE and even when he lines up in line as a TE is a down field pass catching option the vast majority of the time. If the Packers had a RB that played the game like Marshall Faulk did (I know the mythical "unicorn" of RBs) and went down field out of the slot like a WR, then I'd count him with the WRs as a downfield passing option too.
Just because people don't agree with you doesn't mean they are wrong. If anything you have been proven to not have a leg to stand on and being talking out of your rear end, so don't be so combative. Reason your arguments instead of attacking people for having different opinions and maybe people will listen and consider a reasoned response instead of the drivel you keep spewing. _________________

Every time I pop into this thread, I see 2 guys going at it, personally. Not really discussing the topic at hand, which is James Jones/trading.
For some reason, he has little to no trade value.
I think it's clear that he has a lot more value to us, than his trade value.
In the Super Bowl, as I said, he had the 2nd most catches for us in that game, and he also scored big TDs at Atlanta and at Philly in that playoff run. This guy gets open, and he's a tough matchup for most CB's.
And he is a good guy, not a criminal or primadona like is rampant in the NFL at the WR position.
His best days are probably still ahead of him.
And I still believe he would be a few team's best WR if they traded for him.
We're lucky to have him as a #3, #4, #5 WR and if we lost Jennings AND Jordy, or one of them for an extended period of time due to a rash of injuries, I think we'd be fine with JJ89 playing 95% of passing plays. _________________ "It's the same old Jay," Woodson told ESPN afterward. I agree with this, and I'll go so far as to add that pushing him out the door so we can keep a 95 year old Driver makes even less sense than trading him for scraps. |

| James Jones, in my opinion, is one of the most underrated players on the team. He made a number of big plays last year and he is a matchup nightmare. When Jordy, Greg, James and Jermichael are on the field who do you cover with whom. Take one of those away and you have CB's covering the other 3 and that makes it more difficult for Aaron to find the best matchup. Sure they have Driver and Cobb but we all know Driver isn't the matchup nightmare he used to be and Cobb still has to have that breakout game or year and his time will come. I see no value on trading James Jones at this time unless someone will throw a starting safety at the Packers for him and I doubt that will happen. |

I have gone back and forth on my opinion of James Jones, but at the end of the day I agree with you. Jones seems to have a somewhat negative connotation around him and I think a lot of people, specifically outside the Packers fan base, only remember him for his drops. Yes, he did drop some big passes in big games, like the Philadelphia playoff game, but he has made some very tough and big catches too, like in Minnesota this year. Now, with all that said I think a lot of guys could be had for the right price. If someone did offer a 2nd for Jones I would take that in a heart beat. Even with him being very underrated, that kind of value is too good to pass on considering we are not lacking depth at receiver right now. Like it has been stated numerous times before his value is much higher to us than to other teams, which makes a 3rd, 4th, or 5th round pick value tricky. Ultimately I think we hold on to him because I right now I do not see a team offering the kind of value we would want. The only way I think we trade him for a late pick is if Thompson and McCarthy feel that he deserves to get more playing time and are comfortable with Cobb and Gurley/Borel picking up the slack. |
