It's performances like these that make me cringe every time I see anything that paints Lucic to be more of an impact player than Bergeron, Marchand, or Seguin. At his best, Luc is dominant, but he rarely gets to that level. A lot of the time he's operating at 70% or 80% of what he should be every game.

Gutted. Seguin really turned it on for those last two games, we deserved more from the series, but got completely outclassed from the 3rd period on. Bit of a soft goal to give up for Timmy in OT, but what can you do.

A game 7 overtime goal and a self-inflicted attack on our fanbase later, I feel sick. The season started off bad, (remember when we were 3-7?) but the ending was much worse. Numbness and nausea are battling it out right now in me.

Well, Tim Thomas is on his way out of town. No, literally.

Peter Chiarelli, in a press conference announcing the extensions of Dan Paille and Chris Bourque, was asked about Thomas as you'd expect. He said Thomas approached him late last month about this possibility of sitting out a season for family concerns. He reportedly did not request a contract extension during these talks, which were through his agent I believe.

So, Timmy, if your family is based on Colorado now, and you didn't explicitly say you want a contract extension, I'm guessing you want a trade? Well, guess what, when you play the "I'm not going to play" card, your focus and commitment come into question. No, not just to Peter Chiarelli and Cam Neely (who's probably hating this) but to teams that could potentially call about you.

If a trade is what Timmy's camp really wants, then this was a horrible way to go about it. The timing, with the NHL draft three weeks away, isn't bad though. Enough time to engage in exploratory (and hopefully more substantive) talks with other teams and enough time for Thomas' "family concerns" to be cleared up. I think Thomas will be traded by the middle of July if not by the end of the draft. Remember, Chris Pronger was traded at the draft once.

Thank the lord we have internal options at goaltender. Tuukka Rask should be fine to start the season. He was Thomas' backup during the later games of the Capitals series iirc, so he should be fine health wise for next season. Just might need a little more preseason work. Anton Khudobin and Michael Hutchinson should battle it out for the backup job. Loser goes to Providence. I'm happy with that goaltending situation, especially considering we swap Thomas' $5M hit for Khudobin's minimal hit. Maybe this frees up room for Zach Parise..? Hey, I can dream, can't I?

Peter Chiarelli had a whale of a day today.

Would-be UFAs Chris Kelly and Greg Campbell are coming back on four and three year deals, respectively. Kelly will be 36 when his deal expires and Campbell will be 33. Not bad at all. The great part about this is, of course, the cap hits. Kelly could have gotten $4M, maybe $4.5M on the open market. We have him on a $3M hit. Campbell is one of the best fourth liners in the NHL and was nothing short of critical during the Cup run. He's back on just a $1.6M cap hit. That's unbelievable.

Way to go Chiarelli and co. Applause Applause Applause Applause

Ya we wont need much during Free Agency. Id like to see Caron play most of a full season for us. Im sure we'll bring in a few more vets but i wouldnt mind making a play for Rick Nash

I would so much rather keep the prospects and marginal cap space and just sign Zach Parise. I like Caron too, but I'd rather give Jared Knight a chance in the NHL on a 9 game basis to see what he's got. No doubt those two are going to be battling during training camp for a possible roster spot.

I can live with Parise but start high cuz we still could use another goal scorer. Hortons still a mystery. Luc is too streaky still havnt seen him for 2 consecutive first rounds. But if we get Parise im satisfied

I'm not counting on Horton for next year and I hope Chiarelli isn't either.

The NHL Draft is Friday. Here are our picks:

1[24]
3[85]
5[145]
6[175]
7[205]

Here's where our other picks went..

2nd round, 54th overall: This was the conditional pick sent to Toronto along with our 2011 first round pick and Joe Colborne in exchange for Tomas Kaberle. The condition on this pick was that we made the 2011 Stanley Cup Finals, and we did Cool . Toronto sent this pick to Colorado for D John-Michael Liles. Colorado sent this pick along with their 1st round pick this year to Washington for G Semyon Varlamov.

4th round, 115th overall: We swapped this pick straight-up to Carolina for Joe Corvo. It didn't work out, obviously, but I lauded this trade at the time and I won't go back on Chiarelli for trying to get an offensive-minded defenseman in Boston.

There's really no point speculating who will be there at 24 right now. There are always prospects who are reached for and others who fall inexplicably. I just want a forward who can do a tad more than dump and chase. Matt Puempel, Kevin Hayes, Marcus Johansson, Mattias Tedenby, Mikael Backlund, Dennis Persson, T.J. Oshie, Kris Chucko, Mike Richards, and Alex Steen were the last ten players to be taken 24th overall. A mixed bag for sure. Three really good players (Richards, Oshie, Johansson) a serviceable player (Steen) and two more potential top-six forwards. (Puempel, Hayes) We'll have to see.

All things being relative, the 2013 part of the schedule is brutal. Of the 46 games played on January 1-April 13, 19 are at home and 27 are away. The seven game road trip to finish off February is reminiscent of the legendary 6-0 road trip that saw 4 wins by multiple goals including 3-1 wins over Calgary and Vancouver. When we go to Raleigh, Chicago, Nashville, Tampa, Sunrise, Raleigh again, and Montreal, we'll have a chance to get some serious momentum just like in 2011.

As for back-to-backs, we have fourteen, thirteen of which are a two-cities-in-two-days deals. Good news and bad news. Bad news is, theoretically, it should slow us down. Good news: last year, we had 13 back-to-backs, and in those games we were 15-8-3, (1.269 pts/game) which was actually better than when we had days off sandwiching games. (34-21-1, 1.231 pts/game) Probably has to do with the fact most of our core guys are a tad young or are in their primes.

Not a bad schedule I guess. January and February are just going to be impossible.

If and when Mike Mottau signs with another team, he'll leave behind one of the most forgettable Bruins careers we've ever seen. He played 6 regular season games and 2 playoff games for a total of 102:03. Zdeno Chara played more minutes in the final four games of the Capitals series.

B's need to make a move. Philly Buff and now the Rangers have all gotten better. I hope the B's make a run at Bobby Ryan were still lacking 1 more elite goal scorer. We have no idea whats gonna happen with Horton. Luc is too up and down we need another goal scorer

I dont like Lucic . He never plays real well in playoffs and he gets way to many penalties.
The issue w/ trade deals is they always want Krecji, Seguin, Lucic, and/or Hamilton. Seguin and Hamilton are pretty much untouchables. I all for trading lucic but not w/ more good talent for one guy unless its for a young stud.

I like Knight though I think he can score a decent amount next yr:

Marchand Bergeron Seguin
Lucic Krecji Horton(assuming he can play)
Caron Kelly Knight
Pev Campbell Thornton and Paille
