Red Zebra Broadcasting announced on Tuesday afternoon that Huff and Jurgensen were re-signed for the upcoming season, but that Huff would only work 10 regular-season games: all eight home games and the road games in New York and Dallas. The press release said Huff — who has been part of Redskins radio broadcasts since 1975 — chose the reduced schedule himself, based on “the rigors of travel.”

As a team, Huff and Jurgensen have been part of Redskins radio broadcasts since 1981, a span including more than 600 broadcasts and all three Super Bowl wins.
almost the end of an era here folks. Sonny and Sam are back but it's clear the end is near for these two redskin greats on and off the field.

I wonder who is going to replace huff??

That's still 10 games too much. Sam is atrocious to listen to.

I like him. It's like listening to history when listening to him and Jergensen. I'll miss them when they're gone

Doesn't Riggins do broadcasts?

I live in Missouri, so I could be wrong.
But I thought he did shows from time to time?

Wouldn't he be a good choice?

Riggins used to have his own show on WMAL-AM I think and used to have a show on Sports Talk 980. When Dan Snyder teamed up with ESPN to buy Sports Talk 980 though, he wanted Riggins out because Riggins was very, very critical of Dan Snyder and how he ruined the franchise. Thus, Riggins was fired and started doing his own show on the other radio station and he had a tv show to go with it on MASN. Snyder had others switched around as well, for example Steve Czaban is only on in the afternoons now, not the morning. ESPN and Snyder have Mike and Mike in the Morning on in the morning. Czaban is on 570 on your AM dial in the morning now. In the afternoon, Czaban and Andy Pollin are still on and that's a great show to listen to.

Today, Riggins I believe is not doing anything football related in his broadcasts. He is just fishing and doing out door activities.

The Sportsman Channel, an outdoors-content television network based in New Berlin, said that NFL Hall of Famer and New York Jets and Washington Redskins running back has agreed to host a new celebrity-loaded series called "Riggo on the Range."

The program is scheduled to begin airing January 2013 on the cable network.

“Riggo on the Range” will feature guest celebrities from the food, entertainment, music and sports worlds. Each segment will follow Riggins around the world in pursuit of extraordinary hunting, outdoor and cooking adventures.

I still miss Frank Herzog to be honest with you. Listening to redskins games as a kid, all those victories and the three super bowl victories are still in the front of my mind.

"Touchdown, Washington Redskins!"

They'll never be another as great as him!

He, Sonny and Sam were the best in the game. You would mute the TV and just listen to those three on the radio and watch the game. Actually, my dad and I still do that today with Sonny, Sam and Larry Michael because the guys on Fox are so awful compared to the guys on the radio.

Still though, Larry Michael is no Frank Herzog and once Sonny and Sam are gone there will never be a tandem quite like them. I'd have to say that trio is one of the best, if not the best of all time!

But speculation and debate about Huff's mental state has run rampant for years.

Some fans argue that Sam's forgetfulness is all part of an act, which listeners have become accustomed to. Sonny and Sam have always had strong personas and a lot can happen behind the scenes that people don't know about.

One gentleman gave his opinion on ExtremeSkins.com.

I always say Sam is senile, Sonny is drunk and Larry is there to try and hold it together.

But all joking aside, there is a growing concern about Huff, and his ability to react quickly to plays on the field.

Poor man is losing it Sad

Still going to miss him. In a few years when Sam is gone and Sonny also, it will be the end of the best covered era of redskins football history by them. Seriously, we are watching history when we watch them two. I just hope they don't get Joe Theisman to replace them, but I'm sure they will. I guess I can live with it but he's not my fav

Joey T talks so much he could do the play by play and color commentary together! Laughing Joey T was best with Mike Patrick, I miss that pairing on Sunday night football. Hasn't been the same without him IMO.

Good lord the Redskins radio broadcasts will suck when Sonny goes off the air. Sam in reasonable sized doses is okay and the back and forth between him and Sonny is fun.

But ugh with Michaels leading other color guys. I am with you, turtle: I miss Frank Herzog.

Huff wants to keep going.

Quote:
When the day comes, you basically hope you know it,” Huff said. “Everything comes to an end, but I’m going to do this as long as I can.

“Sonny [Jurgensen], Sam and Larry [Michael] are still on the air. Is it going to last all season? I don’t know. I’m going to see how it works out.

Quote:
They think because I have age on me now I can’t do what I do,” Huff said. “Life gets shorter, and you can’t do what you used to do as a player, as a coach. That’s what great about broadcasting — you don’t get hit and you’re part of the game
