Well I thought this was tonight .
I managed to get kempus as the legend winner and ElRey as homer. Glad someone else voted for the trivia thread, loved that one. _________________

Best rookie award: imarobot
Funniest poster: Due to obvious anger issues, Kempus
The Biggest Homer Award: Hmmmm ... ELREY

And finally the grand prize for all around greatness.....
The Mario Balotelli Legend Award: RoxSox2004
Thread of the Year Award: The one that El Rey created during his meltdown about Barcelona being the greatest team ever was rather hilarious. |

I forgot about BTerp to be honest, haven't seen him in quite a bit. There was nothing more classic about the soccer thread than reading lomaxgr vs bterp discussions.
They were quality. _________________

I am quite surprised Davey didn't get more votes for a fair few awards. He has been a pretty consistent poster since the forum started, and he knows his stuff (for a Scouse rat anyway ...)

Very humbled and honored to have received any votes at all, so thank ya folks.
I started a new job today (my first real world job, having graduated college last month), so things are about to get even busier for me and my posting is likely to continue to be as sporadic. But it's a testament to this forum to begin with that the Soccer forum is literally the only place on this forum I really still post in for the most part... I'm sure with the Silly season kicking into high gear I'll be skulking around when I can to celebrate Arsenal's latest Ligue 2 savior and 7-year-old midfielder signing who sets us up pretty for the 2021-22 season...
Oh, and my ballot:

Best rookie award: No idea... I suppose DaveDX only recently started posting more in the Soccer forum, right? .
Funniest poster: Blahman
The Biggest Homer Award: Well this is just the ElRey Memorial award, isn't it?
An award for the poster that everyone values but doesn't post as much as everyone would like and everyone wants to see more of: Oregon Ducks
The Mario Balotelli Legend Award: Lee Evans
Thread of the Year Award
Babes of Euro 2012, hands down. |

So did Ovechkin after playing a few years in the Russian Superleague. I always thought these were stupid because they weren't rookies and they played professionally before. But whatever. I just my personal choice. There aren't any notable first year players in football this year off the top of my head anyways that deserves the namesake of the award. |
Well in football players sign professional 'rookie' terms at the age of 16. How many players play for the first team when they are 16? Would be silly to call those players the only ones you can call rookie IMO. _________________

I was thinking more like first full 30+ game season for a footballer. But whatever, it was no big deal. _________________
