Somebody would have to bet a third rounder to beat our 4th. The only teams that we have to worry about beating us with a 4th are the 5 teams that picked ahead of us. Only the Rams would worry me as the Browns said they are not interested in him. | I don't want to give up even that. If its going to take anything above a 5th, I don't want him. I ultimately hope we just stay out of this, Woz brought up great points in terms of what we've already lost on next years draft by trading up for Griffin and we need picks to possibly move around to get someone we want in next years draft. Also, Gordon has huge, huge RED flags with drugs and being suspended for last year, doesn't seem to fit the profile of the guys we've been drafting over the last 4 drafts.
Adam Schefter said that it may take a 2nd to get Gordon, ummm yeah, no thanks to that!

| Quote: | On Monday morning, ESPN's Adam Schefter tweeted that Gordon "could go as high as the second round." Schefter also mentioned a 4.4-ish 40 time for Gordon, so that second-round selection is likely predicted on an eye-popping number in the 40 for the 6'3", 225-pound wideout.
The 6-foot-3, 225-pound Josh Gordon is expected to be timed in the 40-yard dash in the 4.4s or better. He could go as high as 2nd round.

| Quote: | | Now I can believe this and the littleboys could use a #3 WR and no1 other then Garcon and Hank are sure things on the roster at this point. My only concern is if we do get him which will imo be great but make me wiery alittle how is all this news getting out so fast about us all the sudden! | I think Moss is more of a sure thing than Garcon or Hank, Morgan isn't either. Gordon though, shoot, he's far from a sure thing as a football player, he's done very little in college.
I don't think the news is getting out any different than in the past.
You mean they haven't been transparent? I'm not concerned about it, this could be bad reporting, it might not be us that wants to draft him and we may be putting out false reports so someone else in the division spends a higher pick than they need to. I'm not concerned about this at all, unless of course the team is us that is going to spend a 3rd rounder on him! Then I'll be really, really concerned! |
Now I wouldnt mind spending a 3rd on him if they believe he will be our bull in 2 years. Now if hes just another complimant guy then no way any earlier then a 5th. Now if Hank turns into the guy we all think he will or can and Garsonic is the guy they brought him in too be. If we spend anouther 3rd on a huge fast guy that has already played with our franchise QB heck thats no 1st rd ERs and we could potentially be dangerous. That would be sweet! Its a passing league and the winning teams go to whoevers open and rarely have that just throw it up guy. If we pick him and he produces for us im cool _________________

I found this comment by Kevin Ewoldt from Hogshaven most telling:
| Quote: | When I interviewed RG3 this morning I asked him about Josh Gordon, that interviewing is coming at 3PM fyi.
I’d be surprised if Gordon ends up a Redskin based on what RG3 said.
Kevin Ewoldt - July 10, 2012 reply |
not bad, but not overly impressive. I don't think it warrants us spending a 3rd rounder or even 4th on him.
http://www.walterfootball.com/combine2012WR.php
When you put his #'s up against the #'s from last years draft picks, he'd definitely fall in the mid to late round category. Then, add on the fact that he had drug problems and was suspended for all of last year, he would definitely be considered a late round pick, if he even got drafted.
He'll probably be drafted by the Cowboys or Eagles (who just signed an AFL guy because they are so desperate.) I really don't see us drafting him though.
If he slipped through the cracks and we wanted him to bad to play with Griffin, maybe he could just try out as an undrafted FA. I wouldn't be giving up a good draft pick for him though. _________________

I think he gets drafted earlier then he should! He had a good workout as far as his measurables. Now he could get drafted early but im sure theres alot of smokescreens goin on! There are a million with the normal draft imagine what they do for 8 players! If Shanny sees a less bipolar BMarsh then take him! If he sees anything less then a Marshall talent then I have to say pass![/list] _________________

Honestly this is what I felt was gonna happen which is why nomatter what was said I felt we would be a player in the sweepstakes. I felt like if Griff3 wanted him then we would make it happen. Now dont know the accuracy of the story but this goes back to what I was saying be4 about our intersts getting leaked out everywhere! Now I know how every1 feels about JLC but opinions aside JLC has been right about alot of things since joining NFLN and if he reports it IMO it holds just as much weight as anybody. _________________

Here is a story from NFL.com to follow up with more detail on what RSkinGM posted.
http://www.nfl.com/news/story/09000d5d82a7953a/article/robert-griffin-iii-reportedly-wants-josh-gordon
I still don't see it happening though, at least not for a mid round pick, which seems that's what it will take to land him.

RG3 is pushing the Redskins brass hard to land Gordon in tomorrow's draft. Many teams interested, about 20 at Gordon's pro day Tues... |

This report suggests that the redskins will not be present at Gordon's work out tomorrow.
It says so because we have Hankerson who we are excited about developing and we have a full compliment of other wrs who we are excited about. |
Well that's good news... You would think that with Hankerson and Paul we already have this (kind of) guy on the team. _________________
