Those guys were great players for their teams when they were with them, but the longevity just isn't there. It's tough for me to see their names go up in the rafters. _________________

Personally I think they both have the longevity to do so while playing at a high caliber to get their numbers retired. _________________

If Dwight gets traded and continues his production, does his jersey get retired in Orlando? _________________

I'm starting to reconsider Penny Hardaway. The Magic don't really have a decorated history, and right now the only retired number they have doesn't even belong to a real player that suited up for them. It's for the fans. Although I argue that the longevity isn't there, I can't deny that the high play wasn't. He was a great player, and one of the first recognizable faces of the franchise.
Grant Hill did have a lot of individual accomplishments with the Pistons, so that could be enough, but he never really got them anywhere when he was playing with them. They missed the playoffs twice (one was his rookie year though) and didn't make it out of the first round the other 4 years.
We will see on that one I guess. _________________

I think it will. The fans may not be too crazy about it, but he has always given it his all when he has suited up for them. He owns some nice records with them too. Plus he took them deeper than any other Magic squad had gone in the past, so that's gotta amount to something. _________________

I expect Payton's and probably Kemp's numbers to be retired in the first season Seattle has a new team _________________

I don't see any scenario where Durant doesn't get his number retired for OKC. _________________

You're probably right, but he still has at least 70% of his career left to play
I hope he plays until he is 40. His ability to shoot will help him last that long I believe. He would be a top 5 scorer in league history by then. _________________

Yeah, Kemp probably deserves it.
I was surprised to see this the other day, but Dale Ellis is a top 50 scorer in NBA history. I don't think you guys will retire his number, but his best days did come as a Sonic and he did play 6.5 seasons with you guys.
If I could, I'd retire Dennis Johnson's number based off of the Finals MVP. He doesn't have the longevity though. _________________

I think that LeBron has a good chance to have his number retired in Miami...He is on the pace...
LeBron deserves that his number be retired in Cleveland, but I do not think this will happened _________________

Lebron will definitely have his number retired in Miami now. Delivering a 2nd championship to the franchise is huge.
The Lakers look like they will make it back to the finals this year. That will certainly boost Gasol's case. If they win, then it may just be enough to make him a lock. _________________

Paul Pierce (Boston)
Kevin Garnett (don't rule out Boston it's possible)
Kobe Bryant (Lakers)
Steve Nash (Suns)
Tim Duncan (Spurs)
Manu Ginobli (Spurs)
Tony Parker (Spurs)
Jason Kidd (Nets)
...And Dwight Howard wherever the money takes him. |

I think it's almost definite for KG and Boston. They really love him up there, and why wouldn't they? The dude has been great for them when healthy. _________________
