This just shows how much the coaches and organization thinks of DW. Following the Cards since 1990 and I don't remember many examples if any of the Cards giving a player a new deal (significant raise) with 2 years remaining on a contract.
In addition it is a $mart move if they could lock him nowbefore he has a monster year on the books which will make the price tag go up. |

Call me conservative but i'd like to D-Wash for another season if we're giving him a huge contract. As much as I love the guy I want to see him dominate first. If he wants security now and willing to make around 5-7M per season I'd have no problem with them doing it now. There's nothing wrong with being patient though. _________________

Love that they are keeping core young players like Washington and Campbell. Also keeping LSH, ST stud and they just need to use him right on the field ie screens. pitches, and draws. _________________ Nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition.

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this. Called for it this offseason.
I care not what anyone says, in my eyes, LSH is a core player. Simply does too many positive things not to be. _________________

I for one would leave if I was LSH. I feel Arizona way under use him. LSH is a great threat in the passing game.
Now I do want him back. _________________

Problem there is guys of that mold don't get much attention on the open market. Darren Sproles only got 4 years, 14 million from New Orleans a year ago. That's only 3.5 mill a year.
We're probably his best chance for decent money. _________________

How much would you pay him per season? He's not on Sproles level as a runner so I'm thinking 2-3 million. |

Ya, that sounds about right. Wouldn't be surprised if we sweetened the pot a little more but 2-3 mill sounds right. _________________

for LSH, I think a 4 year, 12-15 million dollar deal would be fair for both parties.
as for Washington, I am not really sure what he is going to get. What did Dansby get again, 6 years 48 million?...is that what Washington will want, or will the recent pay decrease by Adrian Wilson encourage him to settle for a 6 year, 32 million dollar deal?... _________________

IIRC Los' deal was a record for LB's, 5/43... If an average of 8+ mil annually is what it takes right now to get D-Wash locked up then they'll probably hold off for a year just to make sure he keeps progressing to be worthy of that type of contract, IMO. _________________

Lawrence Timmons' deal was what, 6 years, 50 million? I'd say that would be the benchmark for any deal D-Wash would sign. _________________
