Is it me, or has there been a lot of tweets about McClain doing well/decent in coverage? I've seen at least 3 or 4 of them about him covering McFadden, and doing well against him. ....That just can't be right. You have to wonder if putting him in the right scheme really hels him that much. It very well could be, but I'll reserve judgement till I see it against opponents.

On Goodson, man that's just horrible news. I really hope he's ok. Not to be disrespectful at all, but I think I'd feel better if we had Benson as our #2 back. He's a proven commodity. But I liked what Goodson was showing, I really hope he can pull through this and it turns out to be some sort of stinger. Thoughts and prayers are with him.

Absolutely agree. I cannot wait to see what our offense can accomplish this season. I just hope McFragile keeps the boo-boos to a minimum

top 3 offense if mac gives us 16 games, mark it

Top-3 might be a stretch. We would have to beat out either NO, GB, or NE, not to mention DET, PHI, etc. Those guys all got around 400 YPG last year- thats a ton. Even if Palmer somehow throws for 4000 yards in Knapp's offense (he already said it will focus on the run more than pass), we would still need 2400 rushing yards. McFadden could get 1600 if he stays healthy, but I dont see Jones and Goodson combining for another 800.

ok, so i got a lil excited thinking about having a playmaker like dmac for a full season. of course the chances of that happening isn't great as history reveals

my bad but cant a guy jus get excited

shish im fine with top 7 Wink

Ive never really thought McClain was bad in coverage. Actually thats one area I think hes quite good in. Thats not to say that he never gets beat, because all LBs do, but if I were going to rank his skills coverage would be near the top, right next to blitzing.

He was. This was looking to be his break out year into the league as a solid back. Hopefully he's ok.

A: “Offense would be a healthy Darren McFadden. When he’s healthy, he’s the best back in the NFL, hands down. I’m not biased. I’ve played against other running backs, played against the top ones, but when he’s healthy, he’s the best in the league. He just does so much. Defense will be Ro(lando McClain, linebacker). In this defense, he can have a Patrick Willis, Ray Lewis-type year. He’ll be straight to the ball, make tackles, get picks, have a great year.”

We can only dream. I really, really hope McLain busts out in this scheme. The 'make tackles' part sound good on paper, but I've seen him 'make tackles'.

His best game was against the Bears. The guy was all over the field. He looked like the guy we had hoped for and played so well against the Saints in preseason.

He's had a lot of positive comments said about him from writers. He's healthy and he's working hard with the coaches. This Raider 1st round draft pick thriving in year 3 thing is turning into a pattern.

Yup. McClain has been pretty good in pass coverage compared to our other LB's. It's probably the only thing he's been good at during his career here - surprisingly. He tipped A LOT of passes last season thanks to his size.

It's his tackling & run support that have been abysmal. I sure hope this is the year he breaks out. I'm really eager to see what our defense can do under Tarver.

Injuries around the neck are always scary, but I've noticed that most are usually never that serious. Hopefully that's the case with Goodson's.

Prayers with Goodson. I liked the trade, even had him on FFT a couple of years ago.

Several guys ragged on McClain last year and all along he was playing hurt. He couldn't even run. I know as it was clear. Some accused him of being slow. Fortunately he seems to be doing better this year. I get sick of all the negative BS especially when it's without basis.

Love the accountability. Not going to see players standing around looking at each other this year acting like it was someone else's responsibility.

Can't wait to see Tarver's D in action.

+1

I didn't know much about him at Stanford, other than them having a solid D without a bunch of superstars. A defense where players are held accountable, put into better position, and decrease their penalties will be a huge boost. We don't need a top-3 D, we just need a D that will keep us in the game, prevent Palmer from throwing it 40 times, and make some big plays here and there.

Haha, sorry brother. Either way, I think we are all excited about this offense. Assuming they all stay healthy we will be dangerous and balanced.
