So I was pondering Alshon Jeffery a bit after the game and this is the thing I was thinking about: Alshon has been fantastic so far. It is interesting to me to see Michael Floyd look like he has both mentally and physically taken some time to "check out" this offseason. Blackmon got the DUI and has looked like a total schmuck of a dude during the summer. Kendall Wright has looked pretty solid, if you ask me. What is the possible alike factor in all of this: Blackmon and Floyd both got drafted real high, whilst Jeffery and Wright both fell. Could it be(and I'm just throwing it out here, because I'm not real sure what to think) that especially at a position such as WR, these guys are such Divas that when you draft high, they tend to fly high mentally and let their self absorption go crazy, and on the flipside: do they tend to stay focused and keep their noses to the grindstone when dropped on draft day because they are so pissed that everyone doubted them that much? I think clearly the answer is it is a case by case basis, but it is still something interesting to think about...at least in my mind. _________________ Here's to hoping Emery is NOTHING like Angelo. |

The more you spoil your kids, the more spoiled they will act. It's the same thing with wr's. You put them up on a pedestal with fame and fortune and they will act like they're the bees knees and untouchable. Alshon not going in the first was probably a humbling experience and made him realize he has to fight to succeed. And occasionally that means hitting DeAngelo Hall in the face. _________________

It is a huge crap shoot. |

| Alshon has always always always been a high character guy. I've got lots of friends in Columbia and they all just rave about him and talk about how all the pre draft stuff was so ridiculous. |

Thank you for using the term humbling in the correct manner. You are one of a select few. |

1. DeAngelo Hall is an [inappropriate/removed] clown and deserved to be punched in the face.
2. I think this is what it looks like when you draft a real WR prospect.
We have always drafted a bum and hoped for the best and now we have what appears to be a stud and it is working out so far.
I am happy to eat a slice of Alshon Jeffery preseason humble pie as I had my doubts about him pre draft. _________________

Cutler is the only guy qb on any of the 4 teams worth a crap, and I said it was just something I pondered, not exactly like I was trying to make love potion #9. _________________ Here's to hoping Emery is NOTHING like Angelo. |

The guy looked real slow last year, and he doesn't look slow at all now. Plus, I would still have been mad about us drafting him in the 1st, but I think everyone here would have been thrilled in the conversation if they knew we were going to get him in the 2nd(and were when it happened). _________________ Here's to hoping Emery is NOTHING like Angelo. |

I think the thing is that Jeffery has went out his way to address the issues a lot of us had…I don’t think there was anyone who questioned wither or not he was talented…the issues were he was overweight his junior year…but he got himself into shape for his pro day and has now continued to keep his weight in check…I think his work ethic was questioned not only by us but at time by his own coaching staff…but everything coming out of camp has been extremely positive regarding his work ethic and coach-ability…I think his mentality was questioned after his ejection from South Carolina’s bowl game then refused to do anything at the combine…but he has somewhat answered that with his TC & game performances so far…only slight concern was ripping DeAngelo Hall’s helmet off…yeah we all enjoyed seeing it but it cost his team…all Jeffery has to do is continue to keep his head on straight and he has a real shot at being special because of his natural talent. |

.....and snatching his helmet off!
AJs an elite talent.....2 sport athlete thats big and strong enougth to get off the line .....his fluid forward motion and footwork are ridiculous! Hes going to be open alot!! and has great hands!
I can easily see Marshall/AJ/Cutler (not to mention forte/bush/hester/bennett....maybe rodriguez) just destroying the NFL this year and Cutler league MVP
~nice to have motivated young stud to pair with Marshall |
