So here's a tentative starting lineup:
QB - Golson
RB - Wood
X - Jones
W - Goodman
Z - Toma
TE - Eifert
LT - Martin
LG - Watt
C - Cave
RG - Golic
RT - Lombard
DE - Lewis-Moore
NT - Schwenke
DE - Tuitt
Cat - Shembo
Mike - Te'o
Will - Fox
Dog - Councell
CB - Jackson
CB - Russell
S - Slaughter
S - Motta
PK - Tausch
KO - Brindza
P - Turk
KR - Atkinson and McDaniel (confirmed by BK, but I expect Neal to be here before the season's over)
PR - Neal
#3 S - Farley (This is what Motta played last year, pretty much a starter given how much playing time this position receives)
Notes:
* I don't expect either Goodman or Toma to be starting by the end of the season. Goodman will be replaced by one of Daniel Smith, DaVaris Daniels, or Chris Brown, preferably one of the latter two since they both (1) have four years of eligibility to Smith's two and (2) are much faster. And of course, Davonte Neal is way too fast.talented to keep off the field and I expect him to be starting at slot by year's end.
* There are three 1-A/1-B situations on defense, at NT (Schwenke and Louis Nix), Cat (Shembo and Ishaq), and Will (Fox and Calabrese), where the PT will be evenly distributed.
* Don't forget Theo Riddick, who is going to get a ton of touches splitting time between RB and slot. I don't think 100+ touches is out of the question for him this year.
And here are the freshman who should play this year:
Chris Brown - He's been tearing it up. Has world class speed and great jumpball ability.
Davonte Neal - Self-explanatory.
(Maybe) Ronnie Stanley - Tackle depth is extremely thin. Kelly won't play him unless he absolutely has to, so pray our OL remains healthy.
Sheldon Day - Should get a ton of PT.
Romeo Okwara - Kelly: "He's going to be a star." Is currently the #2 Dog. The kid just turned 17 this summer and is already 6'4", 239.
Keivarae Russell - Starting corner.
Elijah Shumate - Maybe on special teams.
Nicky Baratti - Same. |

There are rumors floating around that Cierre Wood tested positive for marijuana and will be suspended. |

ESPN is reporting that Notre Dame junior DE Justin Utupo & senior RB Cierre Wood, ND's leading rusher, suspended 1st two games for violation of team rules.
Shouldn't hurt the team much with the opponents being Navy and Purdue. _________________ TF713'sGreatestHits Texansfan713 wrote: | •I'll make a bet. If Herman leaves Houston after this season I'll never post on FF again

Not happy with the players getting in trouble, but look on the bright side. More reps for GA3. |

Really upsetting with Wood, is obviously a huge part of the offense, but won't be missed due to the massive depth at RB and the opponents of Navy and Purdue, but very disappointing news from a senior leader. More reps for GA3, Riddick and Carlisle. _________________

Really dissapointing that Wood is one of the guys thats getting caught up in all this. Atleast we get to see what we have with GA3 and Riddick going forward.
Also, on the topic of the Navy game in Ireland, I've rarely been as pumped for a Notre Dame game since I've been a fan (and never this pumped for a season opener). Must be so cool for all the guys to be able to play in this game. |

Hopefully, Wood can take a lesson out of this (and the other guys caught). As for the team, RB is a position we are deep at and our first two games, we shouldn't need him to win those anyway. _________________ NFL: Dallas Cowboys

They have a long, wearying trip and go another three weeks without a break. I would complain, too. |

So tell me, Irish nerds, who I should be looking out for in this game that would otherwise be off my radar? Like true freshies and potential breakout players/sleepers. _________________

It's going to be a really long road trip but it's a once in a life time opportunity for both the players and the coaching staff, he should embrace it, not complain about it. He'll probably be gone after Notre Dame wins 6 games this season anyways though, so who cares. _________________

TheGoldenChild pretty much answered this for all intents and purposes ten posts above yours. _________________ TF713'sGreatestHits Texansfan713 wrote: | •I'll make a bet. If Herman leaves Houston after this season I'll never post on FF again
