Are you guys expecting him to become a true #2 for you guys this year? _________________

Without a doubt. If he does not show up this year in that form, WR becomes a huge need going into next season if you combing Smitty's age and the fact that we don't have a true #2.
He looked good when he got starts towards the end of the season, offense actually looked more efficient with him at #2. He's looks good thus far in the preseason, in limited action of course. _________________

Indeed.
I expect LaFell to show up bigstyle this year and for Louis Murphy to continue taking strides as the season goes on.
We could end up with two solid WRs there but I fully expect us to draft at least one WR next year too.
I'd love to see Pilares make some (no pun intended) big strides this year too. _________________ Still the only UK-based Panthers fan I know...hang on a minute...I might be the only one IN the UK! |

If we can get 800 and 7 TDs from Lafell, I will be extremely excited. _________________

That's not really much of an improvement, but probably around the numbers he will have this year. |

I too expect him to have a breakout season. I really like the way he has been progressing and I love his skill set. It looks like Cam has been targeting him a good amount in the preseason too. |

I think this is a good estimate. I wouldn't bet on 1000 yards.
It doesn't seem possible that we can get the same output from Smith and even more out of LaFell and Olsen. The offense has a lot of options and just one football.
Then again, last year's stats were all from playing with a rookie QB and no offseason. |

I think LaFell could challenge for 1,000 yards if our secondary was capable of actually forcing a stop on 3rd down.
But since I don't have much faith in them doing that until they prove it on the field, he'll probably be around 600 or 700. |

ugh,
Should I start LaFell week 1 (playing Bucs), or a healthy Adrian Peterson week 1?
I'm so torn! I could see Newton lighting it up again, but then I can see Adrian playing well given he wants to prove to everyone he's ready to go.
If anyone can help out, its much appreciated.
Thanks

I would probably go with AP. I think it would be good to get Lafell through a game first so that we can see how he will be utilized before you start him. _________________

I could see actually Murphy taking the #2 job from LaFell if he doesn't step up the first few games. I've never been a big LaFell fan. He's ok but nothing all that good. If Smith went down the Panthers passing game would be near obsolete aside from Olsen. _________________

I appreciate it man.
I could totally see LaFell being a keeper all year. He was my steal of that draft. I'm hoping Cam has an even better year, and LaFell can atleast finish with 1000 yards recieving and like 6 Tds.

Brandon has had the number two locked up since the start of camp. I doubt Murphy takes it. |

Both played well given their week 1 roles, I think they'll probably keep the 2-3 spots (in the current order) all season. |
