Howard tore his ACL in practice on Wednesday. The Bengals placed him on IR.
This is a big blow for Cincy. I thought Howard played great against the Ravens last week, and he was their leading tackler last season.
Vontaze Burflict may get a bump in playing time, but in the meantime, the Bengals re-signed LB Rodrick Muckleroy, who was cut during the Bengals' last round of cuts.

I'm sure they wished they had Keith Rivers back now. I think the defense will suffer if they have Skuta, Rey or Muckleroy (who's really more of a MLB) starting.
Tough defense should still be a challenge for most teams (esp the Brownies). Injuries are a part of every NFL season - deal with it. |

Big loss for us this year. He was our best coverage LB, our defensive leader and leading tackler. It is also a shame for him as he is in a contract year.
Skuta will probably take over for him, and it will be a big downgrade. Hopefully it doesnt hurt our defense too much, but that is probably not realistic _________________

He sure started off great in Oakland, but fizzled out quickly. Im glad to hear he was doing so well god Cincy. _________________ First jersey purchased: Jamarcus Russell.

Pretty much what I was going to say. Just looking at the Ravens game, he pulled away a DB when he was about to stand over him and trash talk - that veteran presence is big on a defense with a lot of young players with potential.
With ACL injuries, it's hard to blame teams from being skeptical about giving a long-term contract, but I hope he makes some dough next year all the same. _________________

Not only does this happen to him, but it happens during practice. Brutal.
Wish him the best recovery. _________________

| One of my favorite ex raiders and one that I desperately wish had never been let go. Hope the best for him. |

Pretty much this. Dontay Moch being suspended for 4 games doesn't help either. Skuta looks good at times, but gets out of position which could lead to big plays.
Going to be a long season... _________________

I remember we Raiders use to talk about moving him to SS as he had a bunch of picks one year and was #2 in tackles... Some Raider fans blamed him and Morrison for a poor run defense, but it was Al Davis's D that had the DL in pass rush mode so blockers got to the 2nd level often. |

Gave Weeden so much trouble, he only had 322 yards, 2 TDs, 0 INTs, completed 70% of his passes, averaged 8.7 yards per attempt for a QB rating of 114.9.
In his 2nd start. |
