Reverse 1 & 2 in the 1st draft if we are so lucky. I'll buy into Banks as a potential safety, not so inclined as a CB.

I think Chase Thomas is going to have a difficult time breaking into the 1st round with so many other pass rushers ahead of him like: Jones, Mingo, Montgomery, Jeffcoat, Okafor, Lemonier, Porter, Gholston, Jenkins.

As for taking Johnthan Banks, I would play him at safety.

What do you think of OLB Jamie Collins? I probably have him rated higher than most.

Banks is a great CB. Not really the type of player I believe can play Safety. Not the most physically imposing tackler. Any defender can tackle you on the sidelines but he hasn't shown me that he can take a RB/TE in the openfield, head on. He would be great in our system and plays like Ike. I can't remember his name but the other starting CB is way better than Banks.

Johnthan Banks played safety during his freshman year at Mississippi State.

Really we could use him at a safety or at CB. Might even play him at safety for a couple of years then move him up to CB when Ike Taylor is done.

I know but there is a difference between being listed as such and being effective. He is nowhere near physical enough for me to rely on as the last line of defense. Plus he can play zone just as well as he plays man but he does get bored, lazy, or undisciplined and will give up some big plays. I've been watching him for awhile now.

I think the bigger question is; do we draft at least 2 safeties in first 4 rounds?

depth is insufficient and both Clark and Polamalu have been injured more than much we'd like and also aging.

Speaking of this mock draft, I'll make a mock and post it here in this thread, if that's okay with you, Dook?

A few months ago I thought we would probably cut Clark at the end of this season but now I think they'll find a way to keep him. Will Allen is probably going to be a cap cut though. I could see us taking Banks and using him at either S or CB and then maybe a guy like S Hyde in the 2nd round. Golden might end up being Will Allen's replacement too.

Go ahead and post your mock here, that's fine. Heck post two if you got'em.

Nikoe Whitley is the DB that is more intriguing if you ask me. I haven't rated Banks yet but have broken down a few Miss St games. Based off last years tape I was more interested in the DT and Whitley. They have two playmaking LB's as well.

Even with my extremely limited knowledge on next years draft class, I know that would be an optimistic draft. I like it, though.

Why so many olineman? Maybe a backup RT is needed, however a trade back is highly possible in this yrs draft, you know, more depth and solid contributors at S & ILB. Best pick in the mock is Cleary.

Right now at OT we have Starks, Adams, and Gilbert. That's it. If Starks were to get hurt Gilbert can play at LT if necessary and Adams or Foster can go to RT but there would be some growing pains and absolutely nothing behind them if they were to get hurt.

Figuring that Starks might be on his last season with us I have two OT's in my mocks, one as a backup to replace Starks open roster spot and another as just a backup.

The best pick is the 7th round guy Cleary? I guess you don't think much of CB Banks or OLB Collins then?

Cleary is a better fit as far as need goes, would be a great a RG/RT for our system. Collins in one of my favorite players its just I dont see him as a 3-4OLB, not that quick of the edge but gees he get the job done. Banks best season was his soph yr, played with a lot of swag and really made a name for himself. Reminds me a lot of Fred Smoot and hope his NFL career is just as successful, but we dont need him.
