Once we had the MNF debacle, you knew there was going to be a concerted effort to get a deal done before this week's game.

I expect the refs had a much better bargaining position so got a better deal.

Better late than never. However, it's a shame that the NFL got a deal done only after several teams got a win taken away from them by a bad call. I didn't think the replacement refs would be as bad as they were but some of them acted like they have never watched a football game before. It was astounding how they could butcher some of the easy calls. I understand that it's a completely different game, for a variety of reasons, than the ones they are use to calling but some of the calls were pretty basic. How do you blow the spot of a punt at the four yard line and call it a touchback?

Nice to see them back and we can all get back to ripping on the real refs now.

fixed it for you

It's about time...this really needed to happen quickly, good job by Goodell and the Refs union to make this happen. Can't wait to see Hoculi and the others back out there again this weekend...it just doesn't feel right screaming at replacement refs when watching the games. Wink

Pretty much willing to guarantee the real refs blow a huge call tonight costing the Browns a win.

Its like written in the karmic stars that this must happen.

Much more than the "monday night debacle" which could easily still have happened with the regular refs, the real responsibles for the deal are Bill Bellichik, John Harbaugh and Kyle Shanahan....

That has a much bigger impact inside the structure of the NFL, than any other dubious play.

Didn't think of that at all.

Question: What do we complain about now?

Don't worry... people will find something...

I'd almost be willing to bet we'll still see the forum up in arms at least one more time (if not more) this season over the refs "blatantly handing __(insert team)__ the game".

Oh my god, welcome to the Raiders forum. I swear most of us literally have no clue that other teams play each other.

^This was ruled as an incompletion by the regular refs in week 17 of 2011 between the Packers and Lions. The Lions couldn't challenge it because they had already used their challenges I believe but it's on par with if not worse than any of the calls we've seen from the replacement refs. I can pull alot of other examples of terrible calls by the regular refs too.

Pass heavy teams get a large quantity of BS interference calls where the DB has no real way of playing the ball.

People have forgotten how much we complained about the regular refs for inconsistencies, ticky tack calls, and overly protecting the leagues marquee players.

Yep, and the Lions lost by 6 points. But please, tell me again how regular refs dont influence the outcome of games. Rolling Eyes

How about this missed call, that potentially cost the Vikes the game against the LIons lat year. Joe Webb's facemask was clearly grabbed and with a 1st and goal at the 2 yard line with 9 seconds left, MN very well could have gotten the go ahead TD.

No doubt. The regular refs suck just as much. But because the packers experienced it, it's an outrage!!

It doesn't matter what team it was. A win was ripped from another team on National TV during MNF.

That last part is what is important, the whole nation was watching.

It has happened before with the regular refs. Including in previous Superbowls, on a much bigger stage with a much bigger audience. The only two differences?

1. Media has been overtly criticizing these replacement officials in every single game all season long.

2. It finally happened to the Packers.

Everyone hates the replacement refs and were ripping the league for not getting a deal done with the regulars. People had been bitching since week 1.

The fact that it happened on MNF was the final straw.

It could have been Lions vs. Browns. Doesn't matter, everyone freaked out about it and the NFL had it's worst nightmare come to pass on it's biggest stage.

Stop making this about the Packers.

There are a couple of differences here.

1) The play was reviewed and confirmed. As you said, that Lions catch that should have been a TD couldn't have been reviewed under the rules at the time. The fact that the Jennings/Tate INT/TD was reviewed and upheld as a bad call makes it worse.

2) It was the final call of the game and directly decided the outcome.

3) On top of that one bad call, there were 2 more blatantly awful calls, the RTP on Walden that negated an INT, and the PI on Shields when the WR had his arm draped around his head and was actively pulling his facemask. Both of these helped greatly in putting Seattle in that position, which exacerbates it.
