This really sucks but I feared this was the case when we signed Grant. I had high, high hopes for Helu this year. Hopefully he gets healthy and can have a big year for us next year when I think we will make a run at the playoffs. _________________ RIP SSF mike23md

Have We Seen the Last of Helu?
http://www.redskinsgab.com/2012/09/28/have-we-seen-the-last-of-helu/
Quote: | So, have we seen the last of Roy Helu in the burgundy and gold? At first glance, I thought we may have.
With the recent signing of Ryan Grant and the emergence of Morris, I did not see Helu back with the Redskins in 2013. After looking at the running back situation I figured the group would like this: Morris, fellow 2011 draft pick Evan Royster, and Grant. This could be solid-enough stable of tailbacks who seemingly could get the job done.
But even then, there was something missing. Helu’s skill set is something Shanahan and the Redskins need. Of the three I previously mentioned, none of them offer the pass blocking and ability to catch the ball out of the backfield like Helu.
You could say that i’ve changed my tune a bit, then. With the way offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan uses screens to keep opposing defenses at bay, it makes sense to have #29 around. The Nebraska product’s days as a #1 back may be gone, but his value certainly remains. |
Not that I really care personally if he goes or stays. I just want to win, and dont care who it is that helps do that.
But I do think he will have to fight for his job next year.
Few later round rbs that can catch the ball out the backfield next year. Helu is going to have to hustle hard to keep them at bay and off the Shans radar. _________________

It's hard to be out almost nine months --2013 training camp.. and come back . A lot of time to get fat and lazy. I like him a lot--think he has a ton of talent.. I'm really hoping he's part of the team next year.. |
