I'm disappointed that Amerson isn't good, but I would say that about any tall corner because their potential fascinates me. I never viewed Amerson as a legitimate corner prospect though, honestly did anyone ever think he could actually cover the fast receivers in the NFL? Not a chance. Guy is simply not fast enough and lacks that hip flexibility an NFL corner needs. That's why I think a switch to safety would be best for him as there is no denying his incredible ball skills... Then again he can't really tackle...
My Top 5
1. Xavier Rhodes
2. Jordan Poyer
3. Dee Milliner
4. Logan Ryan
5. Johnathan Banks
Few Other CB prospects that I believe deserve a mention that don't seem to be talked about:
-Broderick Brown (A little small, seems to me like a perfect nickel corner)
-UGA CB, blanking on his name right now but he's a big guy who did pretty well against Hunter last week and had 2 INTs.
-Micah Hyde |
I think you are talking about Sanders Commings for Georgia. He is listed on the UGA site as 6'-2", 216 lbs.
I like your top 5. My list as of now would look like this :
1. Xavier Rhodes
2. Dee Milliner
3. Kyle Fuller
4. Johnthan Banks
5. Jordan Poyer
(Logan Ryan just missing out) _________________

My top 5 is:
1. Dee Milliner
2. Xavier Rhodes
3. Sanders Commings
4. Terry Hawthorne
5. Bradley Roby
HM: Jonathan Banks
But this will obviously change as the year goes on. Amerson, imo, is probably best off moving to safety(but he'll need to work on his tackling). _________________

1. Xavier Rhodes
2. Justin Gilbert
3. Dee Milliner
4. Johnathan Banks
5. Sanders Commings
Broderick Brown and Logan Ryan aren't very good IMO...I'd take Blidi Wreh-Wilson over either of them. _________________

He's not a top CB but I think Charles Sawyer from Ole Miss is gonna surprise a lot of people.
As for the top CBs, after Jordan Poyer, Dee Milliner, and Johnthan Banks it's a blur right now for me. _________________ IN THE BAY AREA WE SMOKE PHILLIES |

Anyone see Bradley Roby today? 2 picks today... one for a TD and 1 PD in the endzone. So damn good. _________________

The pick 6 was especially impressive. Also got pressure on at least 1 CB blitz I saw.
Meanwhile "best CB in the Big Ten" Johnny Adams was getting burnt against Indiana.
Also, in bad news, ILL CB Terry Hawthorne was injured in the PSU-ILL game, sounded serious. _________________

Amerson is one of the best players at the CB position, but he's not one of the best CBs. _________________

No What I'm saying is, Amerson is a great player. He's just not a great CB and he won't be playing that position at the next level. _________________

Not a huge fan of Adams. Like Hawthorne and Roby more. _________________

Watching Johnthan Banks against Tennessee - he seems alot more fluid in coverage than you would expect for a 6'+ cornerback. One play that jumped out at me in the first half was how quick and sharp Banks was in his backpedal. Because of the camera angle it seems that I rarely get to see a cornerback transition and flip his hips, but Banks backpedaled and had a really smooth transition. Appearance-wise, he has very long arms. Along with Banks and Poyer, if Milliner and Rhodes continue to have strong junior years and declare we could have a really good group of cornerbacks at the top of the class. _________________

Banks has been thrown at 2 times, 0 completions against, 1 pass deflection. He has completely shut down Justin Hunter.
On the flip-side, he has missed a couple of tackles in run defense that have led to big gains (completely whiffed when hitting the running lane on an outside run - got juked pretty bad....on the other one IIRC he was engaged and tried to tackle the runner high and slipped right off). _________________
