Gee what a shock that it didn't work out. Anyone who has even remotely heard of Valentine knew that was a terrible hire with all the baggage and drama that came with him. Not sure what the Red Sox were thinking in the first place. This was a disaster from the start that ended the way everyone expected. _________________

Bobby Valentine was a great manager with the Mets. He was not able to cut with the veteran Red Sox. He would be a great manager for a young team. |

Or a team full of ego driven men. _________________

Exactly. It wasn't a good fit for him. He led the Red Sox to one of the worst records in baseball, but led a team of Mike Piazza, Edgardo Alfonzo, and a bunch of nobodies to the World Series in 2000. |

If the Red Sox became the sacrificial lamb necessary in order to rid baseball fans of Bobby Valentine from Sunday Night Baseball, than it's going to be hard to knock Boston. Near as I figure, the Sox have done us all a great service. _________________

If anyone thinks the Sox' mediocrity falls solely on Bobby V's head... Take a look at the trades the team has made since Theo has been gone. It's... surprising. Granted, Bobby certainly didn't help matters... but he certainly wasn't the main factor in their lack of success. |

The Sox obviously wouldn't have been good enough to get into the postseason or anything had they had a different manager, but it's hard not to think this whole season would have been a different story. Valentine lost the players early on, or maybe he never had their respect to begin with. It seems like there was an incident with every player and Bobby at some point during the season. The Sox look to be pursuing John Farrell fairly rigorously. _________________
