My gf has the GSIII so I can only speak for that. It's amazing. If your battery life is that bad, root and flash a ROM. Best thing that's ever happened to my battery life.

There's mine at 85% after being off the charger for almost 9 hours w/ moderate use. It's pretty astounding what this can do for battery life...
If you don't want to go this route, and I don't blame you if you don't, do you have apps like Advanced Task Killer? If not, get it, put the widget on your homescreen and all you have to do it tap the guy and he kills all unused apps that might be running in the background which will increase battery life to a certain degree. Don't expect like 5-6 more hours out of it but it is noticeable. If you use, GO, they also have a task killer you can make a widget for.
Ultimately w/ this upgrade, you're getting a damn good phone (at least from what I've heard about the One X) so either choice is solid IMO. _________________

For all of you on GSM Networks looking to upgrade, wait til the end of the month. Along with the Windows Phone release will be the next Nexus by Google. Most likely they will be available through the play store so you can by-pass your carrier. Even if you are not on a GSM network, try to hold off for the month, there are rumors there will be multiple nexus phones releasing so who knows, there maybe one for Sprint and Verizon
Also, I am going to have to disagree with JTagg, I wouldn't recommend task killers because a lot of the time they close down apps that just end up restarting on their own and that drains battery. _________________

Task killers are the poison of Android. Android can efficiently manage apps on it's own. |

Does anybody here own an ASUS Nexus7 tablet (or have used one)?
I'm looking into buying a tablet for university, and the Android offerings are clearly better and cheaper than the iPad.
Also I still have my old HTC Legend. It's low on ram, but it still does everything else |

I've used one, its too small for my liking. Besides that, it was smooth thanks to Jelly Bean.

Youre making the right decision. Razr Maxx HD might be the best phone at Verizon right now. _________________

Some awesome stuff is hopefully soon to come.
Posting it here because it's based off of Android.
@cmwdotme: So it's official I can now run Android in a web browser on pretty much any platform #worldfirst
@cmwdotme: People ask why that's important? Well if you thought you knew what the Interwebz was... Then think again I'm about to blow your mind.
@cmwdotme: 500 years ago peeps thought the earth was flat,5min ago peeps thought websites were flat. Its time to say hello to real web operating systems
If he can build on this and make it public, this could be a massive game changer for the entirety of the Internet. _________________

What carrier are you on.
I think you should definitely add the Nokia Lumia 920 to your list. |

Verizon. Not an option. AT&T owns rights. Plus, I don't do Windows. _________________

I heard if I can get by the size of the Note II, that's the way I want to go and I have no problem with the size. It actually works better for me for what I do as a living. _________________

In that case I'd think the Note II would be your best bet.
I wouldn't get the iPhone 5 on any carrier but AT&T because of not being able to use data while using the phone function.
The Note II has a better screen (arguably) that the GSIII, a better processor, and, by all accounts, Maxx-esque battery life. I really love the S pen concept (it really has great note taking features).
If you can't get by the size I'd suggest the GSIII over the Droids mainly because of the superior camera, more feature rich UI, and, while it is a large device (4.8" screen) it is easy to hold in the hand. I really like Motorola's stock looking iteration on ICS and the impressive battery life.
I suggest going to the store and checking them out for yourself when they are all available at the same time to really make your decision. |
