He took the Alves fight on two weeks notice, and did you even watch the Hendricks fight? Many people, including myself, scored the first and the third for him. He didn't lose "easily". The Pierce fight could've gone either way. Neither man deserved to win; it was painful to watch. I personally scored it for Pierce as well, though.
And LMAO @ "build his way back up." Stop acting like Rory is ranked so much higher than Kos. Hell, ESPN is the only source I know of that has Rory ranked ahead. |
Props to him for taken the fight on 2 weeks early, but A. he fought a very dumb fight. B. he got his butt kicked.
Kos has some of the lowest fight IQ I have ever seen. His striking is terrible, and has real good wrestling but he chooses to strike...
I had him losing 2 1 to Hendrics (Who I dont like either)
And if you don't think Rory is going to make a bigger splash in the WW division over the next yr or so than Kos, you do not know what you are talking about.
Rory is the real deal, and Kos was a top 5 WW when the WW division sucked.
Times has changed. |
You seem awfully confident in a guy who:
a) got rocked by a flurry from Che Mills (even Rogan, Rory's biggest fan, immediately recognized that he was hurt badly), and a right from Mike Guymon (dropped Rory).
b) hasn't beaten a top 10 WW
c) has yet to face a legit wrestler (getting taken down by Mike Pyle twice in one round certainly makes me skeptical regarding how that would work out for him)
Not saying that Rory doesn't have the potential be amongst the elites in the near future. But acting like Kos isn't even in his league is ridiculous at this stage. |
Rory is kind of overrated at this point. He could be one of the better welterweights in the division but really has not beaten top flight competition as of yet. _________________

When did Machida or Vera ever rock Shogun, Luke? |
I seem to recall him connecting in one of the later rounds, 3 or 4 maybe, and backing Shogun up. (Then trying to chase him down with his Machida flurry attack, but never connecting) Perhaps I'm being liberal with "rocking" but it's not like we haven't seen Shogun get hurt. And if it bleeds, I can see Gustafsson killing it. |
Outside of the Henderson fight, I don't think I've ever seen Shogun in trouble form punches. If you watch the 2nd Machida fight, Shogun eats the same punch to the temple that he put Machida down with and walks through it like nothing. Which division has the best top 3 right now? My immediate thought is HW with JDS, Cain, and Reem. They are way ahead of everybody else in the division, but none of them are GSP/Anderson/JBJ good right now. |
There's a certain someone who I personally think is better than Cain and Reem, and could realistically beat JDS.
Care to guess who it is? _________________

Edit: Cormier would probably also beat all three (he actually has a better chance of dethroning JDS), so that was a good guess. _________________

Gotta love Dodson. Love the fact that he's 125 with finishing power. Not many 125ers have that kind of game changing power. _________________

Nobody will ever care about anything below 155. Sad to say, but it's true. Casual fans simply can't get into their fights. |

Looked up Josh Neer's record after that stunner to refresh my memory on him. Had no freaking clue that he's 29. Close to 50 pro fights, and he's not even 30. For a legit UFC fighter (at least in the past), that's eye-opening to me. I know Ebersole is in a similar boat, but still...
As far as TUF is concerned, Dana said it best at the end of the episode regarding Roy: "you can't fix stupid" _________________

The event was pretty sweet. Volkmann is the worst public speaker ever, it's awesome. I had to rewatch some of the fights, started seeing double about 4 fights in.
We ended up sitting around a bunch of Iowans one of the was Stephens cousin, a couple others knew him some other way. Pretty crazy situation, shame he didn't get to fight. _________________

Cool, glad you had a good time. What was their reaction to Stephens' predicament? And, seeing as how Neer is from Des Moines (as far as I know), were they there for him as well? _________________
