I hope Ruud is never relied upon to, y'know, tackle anyone.
Just keep James and Dobbins on the field. James can call the defense, Dobbins can stop the run, the safeties can cover the backs and tight ends (well, at least theoretically). _________________ Welcome to Houston, DeAndre Hopkins! |

It's the correct move. If your full time return man hasn't performed in 5 weeks, cut him and move on. We need the support at LB. _________________

Well, I'm not questioning the move on Holliday (in fact, think it might be a week late) but Ruud? Why? Kevin Bentley, Omar Gaither, Xavier Adibi and Shawn Losineau all spent time with the Texans at some point in the 3-4 conversion from last year, and while none of them are anything special...are they not better options than Ruud? In the cases of Bentley and Losineau, don't they bring much more to the table in that they've both been standout ST players, something that has suddenly become an issue with this team?
From what I have seen, Ruud is a 4-3 'backer, and not a good one at that. _________________

Anyone know if we've signed anyone new to the Practice Squad?
I'm hoping we bring back Louiseau. _________________ Welcome to Houston, DeAndre Hopkins! |

As much as I loved Holliday, he just wasnt getting the job done. I wonder who will return kicks and punts now? I hope Martin gets looks on both kicks and returns. _________________

I'd say that Martin gets punts, and RB Justin Forsett gets kicks. Makes sense, Forsett has a lot of NFL experience at it. He's not exactly a game breaker, but is consistent and won't make any bad decisions.
We've been looking for ways to get Martin involved, and returning punts seems like a smart option. IIRC, it was one of the reasons he was drafted - to play in the slot and get a lot of work with returns. Had Trindon not stole the show in preseason, I'm sure Martin would of been the opening day return guy... _________________

Then apparently you haven't watched him play for the past few years. _________________ Welcome to Houston, DeAndre Hopkins! |

Yep. There is a reason why he is on his 4th different team in 3 years. He is soft. Look at him last season when he was on the Titans. I hope to god he doesnt see the field for us this season. _________________

Tackles is a useless statistic. He shies away from contact which is an awful characteristic for a linebacker, especially one in a 3-4 defense. _________________

I definitely wouldn't be opposed to bringing in Bentley or Adibi, I think it's just a matter of the coaches already moving on from those guys. They never turned into the players they hoped so they are moving in a different direction. I hope we don't have to see Ruud on defense at all. I hope Dobbins and James can take care of business. _________________

i 100% agree with cutting Holliday, but RUDD WTF
we need our backup ILB to play Special teams. Braman and Dobbins were our gunners on kickoffs and our real only strong points on ST. Now we only have Braman. Instead of signing someone who can replace Dobbins on ST we sign another 'Bradie James' who cant play special teams.
I think we will be fine in our base package when we're stopping the run with James and Dobbins but when we are in dime/nickel I heard Mcclain say on the radio Herring told him that Dobbins and James will switch every series or so of being the only ILB. Neither can cover a piece of grass _________________
