Nope. Well alright, if he leads Denver to a Championship.....

Nope, still not buying it. Way too many playoff failures.

Marino>Manning always.

Anywho, Eli Manning has won more playoff road games than any other QB in history. 5. Might not seem like much but why didn't all the other great QBs do it? Eli is also the only QB that won 4 playoff games in a season on two occasions.

He did accomplish the impossible last year when he took such an awful offense and CARRIED their butts.

Because all the other great QBs usually had home field advantage.

And while the offense last year may not have been the most star studded...his receivers made HUGE plays all throughout the playoffs, and his defense becoming an elite one doesn't hurt him either.

Still, he does tend to become great when it matters most...and that's what counts.

No it wouldn't.

Career wise. Yes it absolutely would. It would be astonishingly unprecedented for a WR to have that many SB MVP's. Assuming CJ stays on the same pace he is on he will end his career with some of the best receiving statistics in history. But statistics are only half the story. A receiver who achieved SB MVP status 4 times would certainly have had a better career then a receiver who just put up great stats.

you say peyton has to many playoff failures but marino is greater then manning?

I'm wondering the same thing.

True failure is when you have an opportunity to succeed and waste it.

Marino was given few opportunities to succeed in the playoffs.

Eli is better right now. He's developed quite nicely. Peyton was the better QB in his prime and for his career though unless Eli reaches even another level.

Eli is better than Peyton right now.

Career wise, it would be almost impossible for Eli to surpass Peyton. He has a lot of good years left, but Peyton was dominant for so long. It would take at least one MVP trophy AND another Super Bowl win/MVP for their to even be an argument. That would still be pushing it.

Are we even sure Eli is better than Peyton right now? They seem fairly even to me, and that's with Peyton adjusting to a new offense and post-neck surgery.

eli is better then peyton right now...not by much and by the end of the season he might not be.

unless eli can play at the level he did last year for ten more years....then he can pass peyton career wise...but he wont do that.

it's turned out to be alot closer then anyone could've anticipated.....but eli is not a better qb then peyton.....he may be better now......and maybe some will look at his career as more of a success because of the two super bowls to peytons one.....but even eli will tell you peyton is the better quarterback.....still eli is a stud nothing wrong with not being better then the potential GOAT

What years has Eli been in the argument for top 5 QB?

How many years was Peyton indisputably a top 2 QB and it was complete blasphemy to rank him lower than 3?

Come on people. I hate forehead as much as anyone, but this ESPN, highlight driven, evaluation of who is better needs to stop. Peyton is a couple tiers above Eli and it is not even remotely close. Not even remotely freaking close.

Dumb logic.

If Marino had a rushing attack that averaged 175 YPG, a rush defense that allowed 75 YPG, a pass defense that allowed 175 YPG, and a total defense that averaged 4 turnovers, 4 sacks a game for an entire playoff run, he would have absolutely won as well. Trent Dilfer would have won with that help. Tacking on he had three HOF receivers and a probowl RB is just gravy.

Here we go again, nobody is denying that Peyton has had the better career, you would be a fool to say otherwise. But right now Eli is better, which is not to say that peyton can't reclaim his spot over eli.

Eli was in argument for top 5 just last year in fact. He has gotten better every year.

The fact that there was an article on bleacher report saying things like "If someone told me in 04 when Eli was drafted that he would someday surpass his older brother , I wouldn't believe you." or something like that and they said in the article that they were comparing two of the "top class modern quarterbacks."
