If you had to create a team of players from the 2011 draft, who would you include on it? This draft has already produced many elite talents (A.J. Green, J.J. Watt, Julio Jones, Von Miller, etc.) and looks to be one of the most stacked classes in recent memory. This team should factor in both production and potential, although production should be weighed much more heavily.

2011 Draft Results

My team:

QB: Cam Newton
RB: Demarco Murray // Stevan Ridley
FB: Stanley Havilli
WR: AJ Green
WR: Julio Jones
WR: Torrey Smith
TE: Kyle Rudolph
LT: Nate Solder
LG: Stefan Wisniewski
C: Mike Pouncey
RG: Danny Watkins
RT: Tyron Smith

DE: JJ Watt
NT: Phil Taylor
RE: Muhammad Wilkerson
OLB: Von Miller
ILB: KJ Wright
ILB: Colin McCarthy
OLB: Aldon Smith
CB: Richard Sherman
S: Chris Conte
S: Rahim Moore
CB: Patrick Peterson

HM: Andy Dalton, Corey Liuget, Ryan Kerrigan, Justin Houston, Robert Quinn

QB- Cam Newton (He's having a rough year but so is Andy Dalton and Ponder is just a game manager. Cam has to score 40 points a game or else they lose)

RB- Demarco Murray

FB- Stanley Havilli

WR- AJ Green

WR- Julio Jones

TE- Kyle Rudolph

LT- Tyron Smith

LG- Stefen Wisniewski (I'm aware he plays Center now)

C- Mike Pouncey

RG- Danny Watkins

RT- Gabe Carimi

LE- JJ Watt

NT- Marcel Dareus

DT- Corey Liuget or Phil Taylor

RE- Robert Quinn

SLB- Von Miller

MLB- Colin Mccarthy

WLB- K.J. Wright (I'm aware he plays SLB. He can probably play both)

CB- Patrick Peterson

CB- Richard Sherman

FS- Rahim Moore

SS- Quinton Carter

Rahim Moore and Quinton Carter are the only safeties that have started from last year that I'm aware of. There isn't a WLB so I think K.J. Wright can play both.

I agree with your team.

And KJ Wright can play all 3 LB spots. Some of us in the Hawks forum want him at WLB, and we bring in a Von Miller type at SLB.

If I was Pete Carroll I would use Bruce Irvin just like Von Miller. He's basically has the same type of game except Irvin isn't as good against the run or in coverage. He needs to get stronger and develop more moves but I think he will be a solid player.

Then just draft another DE to replace Clemons when he is done.

I was hoping that Irvin would get some reps at SLB, but Pete is being stubborn and not letting him develop those skills. Although letting him just rush the passer will help with his development. He wasn't as experienced as Von coming into the league.

Few changes for me.

* I would have Bruce Miller at FB - guy is an absolute wrecking ball.

* If we are moving players around positionally, I would take Nate Solder over Gabe Carimi.

* Give me Muhammad Wilkerson over all three of those DT's. Liuget had a poor rookie year, and although he played well against the Saints, I would still start Wilkerson and probably Stephen Paea to be honest. Not impressed with Dareus.

* Give me Steven Ridley over Demarco Murray. Much more talented runner, even if he does have fumble issues.

The same way you wrote Liuget or Taylor as far as sophomore DTs are concerned, I'd also say Quinn or Sheard at DE. Quinn is on a roll right now but Sheard has played solid ever since entering the league.

I would put Justin Houston in ahead of Sheard to be honest.

Noted. Haven't watched him yet. Comes with the squad he plays for. Will have to look into his game though.

Totally forgot about Wilkerson. And I like Murray more than Ridley. I think the Cowboys being reluctant to give him the ball more and not having a good interior line is hurting him.

I also didn't put 3-4 OLBs as 4-3 DEs. Some can do it some can't which is why I didn't pick Justin Houston. I really like what Robert Quinn has been doing this year.

QB: Andy Dalton
RB: Stevan Ridley / DeMarco Murray
FB: Stanley Havili
WR: AJ Green / Torrey Smith / Randall Cobb
TE: Kyle Rudolph
LT: Nate Solder
LG: Clint Boling
C: Rodney Hudson
RG: Mike Pouncey
RT: Tyron Smith

I took some liberties on the offensive line moving some guys around but those are the 5 best healthy linemen from that class IMO.

DL: JJ Watt
DL: Corey Liuget
DL: Muhammad Wilkerson
LB: Von Miller
LB: KJ Wright
LB: Bruce Carter
LB: Justin Houston
CB: Patrick Peterson
CB: Richard Sherman
CB: Chris Culliver
S: Chris Conte
S: Rahim Moore

PS: The amount of pass rushing talent from this class is absurd. Von Miller, Justin Houston, Aldon Smith, Robert Quinn, Ryan Kerrigan, Brooks Reed and Sam Acho are all really good.

Now you have to explain why you left out Julio Jones.

Unfortunately for Cam he isn't even getting close to 40 points a game… Laughing

The Cam Newton hype train is going to come to a halt here fairly soon and people are going to start wondering about him and rightfully so. His offense is all about deception. His footwork and throwing mechanics are still flawed, his hip rotation isn't good at all. Because of mechanics problems he's got big accuracy problems. He doesn't handle pressure well and his accuracy under pressure takes a big hit. Cam's attitude is popping up here and there too. And his offense is super simplistic and all about deception instead of actually doing things well. Remember that Chud made Derek Anderson look like a pro-bowler at one point and you know who else had a pretty good rookie season before he was figured out? Vince Young.

I didn't think Cam was a good QB prospect and he's shown incredible athleticism in the NFL but I still haven't seen good QB skills. I said it before the draft, there would be three successful QBs from that draft (Locker, Ponder, Dalton) and I'm sticking with that but I might've missed on Kap. I am thoroughly unimpressed with Cam Newton. He's about to come crashing back down to earth in the eyes of fans and media.

Inefficiency. He drops too many passes and doesn't catch enough of his targets. And his concentration and half assing issues were so bad earlier this season that he was benched on MNF. I still think he's incredibly talented but he's got his issues to work out.
