The final depth chart I saw was that Edwards was the starter and Biermann was the backup (or, actually, the main rotational guy). But I think Biermann started in week 1 and he got 49 plays to Edwards's 28 plays. Was Edwards injured? Or has Biermann passed him?
Who would you rather have starting? Personally, I'd rather have Edwards out there. He was saying over the summer that he's finally healthy again and I was kinda hoping we'd see him start to dominate. |

Edwards was most likely just making excuses for his bad play last year. I'd probably rather have Biermann. _________________

As a quick update, Biermann played even more in week 2. He got 65 snaps to only 17 for Ray Edwards. It certainly looks to me like Biermann is our starting LDE. Not sure when it happened but if you're only playing 17 snaps in a game, you're not the starter any more.
Totals so far are:
Biermann: 114
Edwards: 45
As a reference, here's the rest of the D-line:
Babineaux: 123
Jerry: 112
Abraham: 109
Walker: 54
Sidbury: 12
Matthews: 12
Robertson: 3
Personally, I haven't liked the play of either Biermann or Edwards to this point. I had hoped Sidbury would be further along than this as well. Walker has played good and may deserve to take snaps away from Jerry. |

Bierman has looked good so far under Nolan so I think he will continue to see more snaps. I also think Jerry has come into his own thus far. The guy is doing very well in creating pressure up the middle and penetrating. As a whole the Dline has to do better in stopping the run but I think our Dline strength are the DT's. _________________

Its a very simple situation, Edwards plays in the base package and Kroy in the nickel. Its nothing more than that. |

Ya Edwards has been mediocre, Bierrman average. Really dissapointing play from all our DEs except for Abe's ever so occasional flashes of excellence.
Really liking the way our DTs are playing. Ive always liked Walker a lot and I think he's playing great in the new scheme, as are jerry and babs. Can't remember seeing Robertson out there _________________ formerly MadAtFalcons |

Coach Mike Smith said that when edwards played the broncos he only played 41 percent of the snaps because of the no huddle offense of denver. It was just his substitution pattern. _________________

It also might have had to do with us having a large lead, thus they were somewhat in more passing situations as well. _________________

Ray Edwards is reminiscent of Jamaal Anderson. Maybe not as bad, but he cannot get to the QB to save his life. _________________

Last game:
Edwards - 13 of 49 snaps
Biermann - 36 of 49 snaps
Were we in the base 4-3 only 13 times? Maybe we should be in 4-3 more when the other team is running all over us. Akeem Dent was in on 28 snaps but maybe that was due to Nicholas's injury.
I noticed that Biermann was often tasked with shadowing RGIII in case he ran. He couldn't really rush the passer in that capacity and on many plays was just sitting back watching RGIII.
Some have suggested that Biermann be our temporary replacement for Nicholas if he misses the next game. Dent hasn't really stepped up yet so I'd prefer him not playing every down. |

| Yea... I think the writing is on the wall for Edwards... No way we pay him 7 mil to play this role.... With a deep DE class... We will grab a DE in the 1st round. |
