totally agree with LBC that Ryback is boring. At least Cena puts on great matches, and has hella good mic skills. Ryback can't even have a real match. All he can do is squash. _________________

That would make Cena look weak ... WWE usually doesn't do that _________________

That's just cuz they're in season. He could have just as easily made fun of the Indians... the Cavs...
But hey! You've got Cleveland State again this year... maybe... right? _________________

| The LBC wrote: | Yeah, sorry, but Ryback is officially beyond boring. Like literally he is the epitome of everything that people griped about being horrible about Cena, except Cena can actually hold his own (and then some on occasion) on the mic whereas Ryan Reeves has the personality of a bowl of grapes.
This is really starting to come off as Vince and Paul trying to either troll folks by getting them to cheer for what they booed and derided Cena for for the past couple years, or they're trying to just draw the attention away from Cena's shortcomings by putting someone else out there who is far more one dimensional. The real judgment will come when he has his Warrior v. Hogan moment (in a match where Cena is an opponent on Sunday) and he actually has to sell (because I highly doubt they're going to have him completely no-sell Cena for a full match).
To be honest, Ryback doesn't even deserve the Goldberg comparisons, Bill had more charisma in and out of the ring. And who exactly is he supposed to be appealing to? Little kids... by continuing to assault and try to further injure a guy he's already beaten so badly he was (kayfabe) being hauled away on a gurney? That's some heel stuff right there.
The way things are going, I'll be happy in 6 months when Ryan Reeves is back in FCW and not the impediment to the development of a lot of mid- and upper-midcard guys on the roster. This squash-fest monster that doesn't talk works just fine for heels, but when it quacks like a heel but is booked as a face it's just blah. Take him the route that Heyman booked Rhino (not "Rhyno") in the last 6 months of so of ECW and you've got something quality. As is currently, it's becoming time for me to check the score/status of MNF. |
Nice Rhino name drop.
I wrote an article for a website years ago about how that was the proper way to push & book a "monster" character.
Not well versed in Ryback but I remember Goldberg's run well. There was a lot about his push that worked but then again, there was a lot that failed - we just didn't realize it till much later.
WCW had the roster back then that was able to sustain a weekly squash match and for better or for worse they got a ridiculous pay-off with the character in Atlanta the Nitro he went over Hogan for the title (which is more than you can say for most angles/gimmicks). _________________
